Not bulldozing such homes would mean the end of the Rule of Law in this country. /facepalm
I would say that seeing israeli bulldozers destroying houses in your neighbourhood would make it all the more appealing to young palestinians to 'fight for the cause'. To them, it just confirms that israel is an evil which must be destroyed with whatever means neccessary.
The only party in the conflict which has the ability to restrain itself is the israeli state. I don't condone the actions by radical palestinians, but I do understand why so many of them pick up their weapons to fight.
Not that I've actually checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if nearly all phonetically good sounding memorable names are squatted. Especially when sites with names like "flickr" got popular and domain squatters started paying attention to sites like that.
And even if you dont "need" a good name, it shouldn't be possible to make money of it this way. Its just.. wrong... in my eyes. Making money of typos of people or making money of random dictionary words without content is evil.
Its a good move, but im still waiting to see some more action against domain squatters. It is so infuriating to have a good idea for a website, only to have 99% of the possible/good domain names being taken and being part of some advertizement network. And I just refuse to pay them.
Ofcourse, in economic terms, it would probably be worth it in the long run if you have a very good idea to pay some extra for the better domain name. But its like paying for "protection" money because the alternative is worse...
Ah, but should the aim of IP protective-type mechanisms/laws be there for the sake of the net benefit of society? The argument is that the actions of free copying hurt the net profit of the artists/studios thus you "steal" their profit. Ofcourse, you are not giving them your money, which is what makes them so upset.
What *would* be better for society? will we loose artists if their work is not protected? do they need the studios to market and fund them? What is the actual effect? Would 10% of the people who download stuff buy it if they could not download it? Would we have new artists which would do new clever things if there was no piracy today? These are things which cannot be clearly measured, and the answer would vastly differ depending on who you asked. And, depending on that answer, it would lead to the conclusion that more or less protection is "better" for general society. And then again, for better or for worse, there are not many things which are done because they are "better" for society. Because, should doing things for the benefit of society be the ultimate goal?
"fall back to WiFi hotspot when the user is at home, at work". I agree that the wording could be better, but they meant to say that these new cell phones hold a list of trusted wifi networks which it will prefer over a cellular connection, such as a home or work wifi network.
How do I know, besides reading the article? I develop for cutting edge cell phones and PDA's for a living.
"So add a donate tag/link after the splash screen. Improves the odds that illicit copy might get ya a few bucks... maybe not the full price but something is better than nothing.
Be pro-active, create a crippled version and sumbit that one to the torrent sites. Maybe include a coupon code within the game to tempt players to do the right thing and purchase a legit copy."
There are some excellent recommendations here: I think this is a great idea. Make it easy for me to donate some money towards the developers if I think the game was good enough for a few hours, but not good enough to warrant a full purchase.
Oh hell, I mentioned nazis, I've killed the thread.
actually Godwin's law states that a discussion isn't terminated when mentioning nazi's in an appropriate context.
Godwin's Law is not meant to describe situations in which Hitler or Nazis could reasonably be expected to be mentioned, such as a discussion of Germany in WW II.
Being European, I've modded this insightful. We have tons of ignorant people here too, the debacle which is called the "referendum" on the European Constitution proves that. Remind me to never be in favor of refendums again. If you are amazed by the stupidity of "the government", you havent experienced the collective wisdom of "the masses".
Why not? The library works this way. You get a library card, you have access to all their books. You cancel the card, and you dont have access to their books anymore. Isn't this the same?
Well, Anime is just a medium. You can expect to find very bad, very good, very weird, very boring, very exciting, very cute, very gruesome, very lovable anime. And there is no one-size-fits-all (tm).
But, if you're into movies. (I prefer series) Check out Grave of the Gireflies, Wings of Honneamise and perhaps Jin-Roh (the wolf brigade) or Akira (Personally I don't like it -that- much, but I know some people who swear by it).
In series, I would recommend: Cowboy Bebop (ofcourse), Scrapped Princess, El Hazard, Photon, Planetes, Escaflowne. I'm not sure about evangelion, it's good, but a bit over-hyped I think.
But anyway, just like with 'normal' movies and series. There are anime-movies and series for every different tastes. But I admit that most anime follows the 'action & sex & humor' strategy to attract as large a late-teen audience as possible -grin-.
I think no matter how he put it, you could still add the "In your FACE.. etc" part to it and make it sound like he was a little child happy he apparently was better at something than a friend.
The way I read it, he's just congratulating the team for doing what it's paid to do and perhaps putting it this way will increase the likelihood that more funds will be granted to ESA. (Which is a good thing)
I find it funny how you find hidden motives and words where there clearly are none. Yes, perhaps some Europeans might think this way, as might some Americans when Beagle failed. The way I see it this is silly and I just want more space exploration, no matter who does it. (C'mon Japan! C'mon China!) Also I believe that the people who actually work at these missions (at NASA and ESA) do feel some competitiveness, but are mature enough to just congratulate the other when a mission succeeds because the outcome of the missions is more important than who has accomplished them.
There is a web-forum (yeah, like so many others, but better of course;-) I've been working on for a couple of years now. The intention was to create a framework with which you can create all other forums. The fun thing about it is that I've used it to create all kinds of different (non-forum) websites with the framework. From a photo album to a telephone-cost-administration system. In my opinion it shows how you can write a good OO system and make good use of the features a scripting language can provide.
Everybody keeps forgetting that the job of the
patent office is not to judge patents, its just
to grant them and to make sure it is a 'new'
patent (ie. it doesnt exist in the patent-DB).
To enforce such a patent, that's an entirely
different matter. (your swings are using my
patented motion?)

And what would be the reason why 75% of them perform so bad?
lack of good teaching? parenthood?

talking about games, this video with footage from battlefield 2 was deemed "a terrorist recruitment video" by congress.

Several games.
Jake2 (Quake 2 clone) as the AC already posted.
Puzzle Pirates
Tribal Trouble (good!)
check out javagaming.org for tons of discussions about the subject.
and tools? how about:
LWJGL: http://www.lwjgl.org/
JMonkeyEngine: http://www.jmonkeyengine.com/
Xith3D: http://xith.org/
And there are probably tons of other games and tools I'm forgetting.
And regardless what the trolls will say, it is perfectly possible to create a 2006-level game in java.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go drag a blind in my jalopy to some speakeasy before a hard boiled torpedo catches us in the struggle buggy."

Well, here is a documentary/film about tiananmen, although not a hollywood blockbuster.

After a little googling I found this:h tml
http://seclists.org/lists/politech/2001/Dec/0017.
Appearantly he made a post which explained how smallpox could be spread.
"The secret of government spending: why build one when you can have two for twice the price?"
In all seriousness... why not have them compete? The more competition, the better the final reactor will be.
Just a small nitpick... (since I'm dutch)...
"Joke" doesn't mean "First Name". Joke IS a dutch first name, pronounced "yo-kuh".
