Right, its been a while since I used windows, but this is what I guess is happening.
The email is faking the mime type, and telling windows that the attachment is text, hence displaying the notepad icon.
When the attachment is d/clicked, windows sees the.pif extention and runs it as a.pif
I have been able to mess about with this type of mime/extention trickery and make a web page open a word document with the content "You tosser! This could have been a virus!"

The only intuitive interface is the nipple. Everything else is learned.
1) Linux does have a central figurehead directing development. It *is* Linus. Linux is just the kernel - the rest of the system is GNU / Other.
2) You do *not* have pseudo-linux. You have Cygwin/XFree86 running KDE 1.1.2 - Linux is nowhere to be seen on your system. And as I remember, KDE 1.1.2 sucks:)
There are alternatives (cross platform, noless!) to DirectX - SDL is superb.
You really need to install a full system based on Linux. Mandrake is a good starter, holds your hand for a lot of the setup stuff, automounts your drives and will let you compile your own software (as long as you install all the "Development" stuff.)
Everyone the games companies care about is running windows? Someone tell id this! And Activision!
FWIW, a Linux system is no longer limited to the l33t g33k people any more. Distributions like Mandrake can bring it to your "average gamer".
If by "average gamer" you mean people who dont want to bother installing software, bugfixes, changing configurations, tweaking graphics cards to get the best gaming experience - the answer for these people isnt Windows. Its a console. Windows will still expect you to keep your system updated with the latest DirectX, graphics drivers etc. to keep up with the games.
Video games make people violent... blah blah... violent TV makes kids kill each other... yadda yadda... ban violent games... that'll make our kids peaceful again...
Utter crap. People will blame anti-social behaviour on anything but themselves. Who is responsible for how a minor shapes themselves? The minor? No - the parents.
A long time ago, before anyone had heard of televisions or video games, there were these things called The Crusades, which were particularly anti-social and violent. They came about due to religious prejudice. They came about because people were raised to believe that people from another country who believed different things were unholy and deserved to die. Religious wars still rage today, arising from generations of hatred.
Perhaps if people took time out with their kids and taught them tolerance and kindness, we wouldnt have to look for something to blame for their behaviour.
No, C++ means increment C after you have used its current value, therefore the next language we use should be D. If it was ++C, I would have agreed with you:)
Where is our DirectX, our Cakewalk, our Quake III?
DirectX - Mesa
Cakewalk - not a musical guy myself but I'm told there are some good midi sequencers out there.
Quake III - Quake III. Sheesh... cant you use a search engine? Here's a tip... www.lokigames.com - you can even use your windows Q3 cd with the download!
Sorry, its been about 5 years since I had any MS software in my possesion.
the question for the lawyers is if the negligence is to the point that they are in breach of their portion of the EULA
Yeah, Under the trade descriptions act (in the UK anyway) a product has to be fit for the purpose sold. IIS is not fit for serving web pages, due to the huge security holes. Yeah, patches can fix this, but the purchased product is not fit for the purpose it was bought for. Plus, I have seen a few systems where patches for the CGI Decode bug are not effective. A full refund would then definately be in order. It would be interesting to see what happens if a case is ever brought to court.
This is an interesting point. Can MS be held responsible for holes and bugs in their software that cost businesses money?
MS Could say that part of running a machine connected to the internet is checking for bug fixes and applying them, and that it is the users responsiblity.
However, companies pay a lot of money for MS software, which is marketed as secure and easy to maintain.
Can anyone with an MS licence agreement tell me if they have a disclaimer absolving them from any responsiblity if their software goes wrong and costs you money, either due to downtime or data loss?

Our exchange server crashed, and the WINS servers were acting really strangly. Dont think it had anything to do with getting to 1,000,000,000 though :)

Anyway, thats just what I think.
This should have been called "Star Trek : The Slow Motion Picture". Terrible.

In answering the question, what does the Red spectrum tell us about Quazars, there are certain things that need to be established.
1) What is a Spectrum?
2) What is a red one?
3) Why are they so frequently linked with Quazars?
Just put a neat line through that we'll come back to it later.
And I think that confidently answers the question What does the Red spectrum tell us about Quazars!
Hmmm... wouldn't that make her more stressed? :)
I just cant get used to seeing Konquerer with a C.
Yeah, I know its a troll but I have to bite...

I thought UnrealIRCD already had ssl connections, and XChat 1.6.4+ have an option to connect in ssl mode.
Reminds me of what my dad used to say... "Fight Fire with Fire".... He didn't last long in the fire brigade...

Simply cut out the un-needed words.

Come on, we all know that 80% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
