All our administration has to do is say how well this will help protect us from terrrrism, and these no-minded sheep will line up. People haven't fought to the death in this country in over a hundred years. Kneel and submit.
At this point it doesn't even matter. Cash used to mean something, it used to represent something, but you should just consider the money you get as "fun tickets". I'd love to see you visit the Federal Reserve and exchange your "legal tender" for gold. The dollar is way over-inflated, they (the US government) should just admit the balance between what is in the reserve and the cash/coins in circulation hasn't been in sync for over 50 years and just start using "credits" like in Total Recall.
I refuse to buy any Sony products anymore. I used to have all the great Sony gadgets back in the day... TV, Boombox, Walkman, Discman, Mini Tape-recorder, portable speakers, you name it.... and they all died. I'm not talking after 10+ years of use, I'm talking less than 2 years of use.
I do own a PS2 I bought off a friend for a ridiculously low price (needed my Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest fix).. but I've heard a ton of horror stories about the PS2's breaking down in a similar manner after only a years worth of use.
Oh, and don't get me started on the rootkit's Sony was installed on user's computers.
The PSP is a stupid design. I spent my $200 on a GP2X which is open-source, has a great battery life (which use AA's, not some proprietary gimmick), and I can watch video's on my system without having to "modify" or "hack" the firmware.
Who cares. Star Wars was great back in the day, Lucas ruined the Legacy, get over it. The same is happening to the Terminator, but at least you can't blame Cameron, as he has nothing to do with the ruining. Lucas on the other hand can eat dicks in hell.
I admit it's a task keeping up with the latest news in video gaming because of how commercialized it's become. I was just thinking the other day how/why Sony decided to get into the video game market, other than the obvious all might dollar and market-share. I find it hard to believe they actually CARE about the art-form of video games.
If I had my choice, I would like to go back to a simpler time when only Nintendo and Sega dominated the console market, and you had a few weeks to properly digest a new game, instead of new titles coming out literally every day. Even if I quit my job I wouldn't have enough time to play all the games coming out. "Bring me back to a golden time, from 85 to 89" -- Anthrax
You also need to take into the account your surroundings and environment... I'd rather pay $1500/mo for a 1 bedroom apartment in Boston, a very progressive and historic place to live, instead of Alabama or Arkansas, where civil liberties and evolution stalled out hundreds of years ago.
Doesn't Nintendo know that doing something like this can literally make the unit flop? Nintendo Revolution was such a great name for their new console... to not only rename it so close to the launch date, but to rename it "Nintendo Wii" is just ridiculous. Who ever Nintendo hired as a marketing firm, I can only hope they have signed paperwork saying they aren't responsible if this thing flops.
I have full sleeves, as well as tattoos on my legs, and i wear t-shirts and shorts all the time to my work... of course, I work for a start-up, so the owner doesn't give a flying fuck one way or the other as long as you get your shit done... but unfortunately a lot of IT places would rather you look good and be completely useless. It all depends on who is running the show dude.
Well open-source arena is kind of a different ball-game -- with the l0pht acquisition, you're talking about hacking and security, which is a very sensitive arena nowadays....
I remember working at a "Security" shop (that were recently acquired by Verisign), and at my time there I found numerous holes in software we used in house. Now, I'm all about full-disclosure and such, and so I had prepared a few advisories on these softwares, only to have my manager tell me it would be "bad for everyone" if I had released these, due to the partership they had with these businesses. So needless to say I wasn't going to sacrifice my apartment and food in my mouth for the sake of disclosure. I would've loved to release those advisories, but because of politics I wasnt able to.
I think hindsignt will be 20/20 for the l0pht guys -- usually with big business comes big politicking. At least as a smaller entity, they were able to do things their way. Things never stay the same when getting acquired by a larger company. Anyone who has had it happen to them, Im sure can attest. In 99% of all buy-out's, things turn for the worst.
If Microsoft does have the muscle to push this as a standard (which hopefully will fail) -- I'd imagine most motherboard companies will have the 2 "onboard" USB slots the Microsoft way, but also include a USB header with their motherboards that work the same ole-fashioned way. Think about it -- a lot of these MoBo places are Taiwan shops that absolutely adore Linux -- they would be shooting themselves in the foot too if they went down the Microsoft road.
Let's face it.. C (and C++) can either let you do amazing things or burn you. There will always be bugs in software, thats just the way it works. The only true way to protect from people trying to exploit those bugs, is from the foundation up via utilities like systrace, propolice, W^X, etc (www.openbsd.org for more info). That's the best way. Even when you program with security in mind you can still make mistakes. Yes, bugs are bugs and still need to get fixed, but they wouldnt have such an adverse affect if other policies were in place.
I just moved to Kansas City Missouri in hopes to find a job in computer security around here, and since I only came with a small suitcase and backpack, I left my hardware behind in New Hampshire.
The second day here I found (in a dumpster) a HP NetServer 5/100 LM server... it's a Pentium 100, 10 gigs worth of SCSI drives, an old cdrom, and 128 megs of ram... its currently running NetBSD, serving webpages with Apache, and running qmail:)
Anyone who sees this movie and says how awesome it is, obviously only cares about stupid action sequences. If you want the real story behind why they made this flick, all you have to do is read about Carolco's past. All I have to say is if it doesn't involve Cameron, it's not worth seeing if you're a true Terminator fan. If you want mindless action, just go see 2 fast 2 furious. If you want to see a great movie about man vs. machine, technology , drama, and the end of the world, just go out and rent Terminator or T2. Please don't support this horrid piece of hollywood trash.
Arnold once said in regards to a Terminator 3 movie, that he wouldn't do it unless Cameron was involved. Food for thought.
There's a huge difference between anti-US and anti-war statements. What Theo essentially said (Im paraphrasing) was "from the funding we recieved, at least that's once less bomb that can be built". How is that anti-US? If he would've said something like "I hope more terrorist organizations attack the US and blow stuff up", that would be a whole different story.
What it comes down to, is that free speech shouldnt come at a price.
Im a diehard UNIX user; I love Slackware, I love Debian, I love OpenBSD. Unfortunately, like you, Adobe isn't porting Photoshop and Macromedia isn't porting flash to UNIX anytime soon.
So I have XP Professional installed (which runs fine), and I use VMware for all my UNIX needs. I track -current in OpenBSD and I check out any new releases (like Slackware 9.0). The best part, you dont need a new computer or hard drive. Once youre done messing around or testing or whatever, delete the file VMware uses as the disk.
I know a lot about the subject of losing weight. I've read books and Ive done my research, so listen up.
If you're only concern is to lose weight (fat as well as muscle tissue), then going on a low-carb diet is the way to go. No candy, no soda, no pasta.
If you want to tone up and as a result, lose body fat, then you have no other choice than to eat right, with lots of protein, coupled with weight traning. You don't need to be like Arnold. Light weights can go a long way. The point is resistance. It's the only way your muscles will react. In case you didnt know: the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn, because the more engery your body will need to give to your muscles.
If you opt for the first choice, be sure to stay away from carbs for the rest of your life, because as soon as you start to eat pasta and drink soda on the regular, you will be right back where you started.
Eitherway, I would recommend to EVERYONE to get at least 20 minutes of exercise a day. If it's walking around your block a few times, going for a bike ride, it doesn't matter.
HAHAHHAHAHAH yeah riiiiiiight.

Im seriously considering getting rid of all my consoles and using that money to build a MAME arcade. There was nothing like 8/16 bit video games.

Am I wrong in thinking this is just another implementation of systrace?

Because we never went there in the first place dummy, why do you think there is all this hype to "go back"

Might I suggest VMware?
