    Outlook Web Access (OWA). There, I've just saved you 10 minutes per day, or around 60 hours per year. I don't know how many members of staff your company has, but if you're using Citrix, I'd imagine quite a lot... lets say 500.

    500 x 60 = 30000 man hours per year saved by switching on OWA and NATing port 443.

  7. Re:Fingerprint Reader? on Child-Suitable Alternatives To Passwords? · · Score: 4, Insightful
    A fingerprint reader wouldn't work. Fingerprint reader software (such as the wonderfully open source ThinkFinger) map out a fingerprint by locating easily identifiable marks, such as swirls or dead-ends, and map their proximity to other easily identifiable marks. As this girl is seven its fair to assume that in a few more years her fingers will be twice their current size.

    The fingerprint will be the same, but scaled up so all proximity will be lost.

    Kinda off topic, but... in the last couple of years I bought myself a new watch. I spent a bit more than I wanted to, but I really wanted a Breitling Aerospace. Specifically the one made from Titanium & Gold.

    With a christmas bonus in my pocket, I walked into Sefridges jewellery department, tried on the watch I wanted (still wearing it) as the salesmans pitch started;

    Salesman: Now this watch is made from titanium, are you aware of the properties of titanium

    Me: Yes, very light and very strong, this its why its used in the aerospace industries

    Salesman: Thats correct, and its also a self healing metal

    Me: Excuse me?

    Salesman: thats correct, if you scratch titanium, it will heal the scratch like your body will with a scar

    Me:

    Salesman: I know, amazing stuff

    Me: sooooo, you wouldnt mind if I took a serrated knife to this breitling then

    Salesman:

    Me: I think someones been telling lies to you, but I am going to buy this watch anyway.

    I recently had to travel to North Korea (don't ask... work related) much as I had to travel to the former Soviet Union, and billboards are noticeable by their absence. These places look dull. Even though we have advertising forced on us 90% of the time advertisements are (usually) asthetically pleasing, vibrant and a sign of economic growth.

    Yeh, they annoy me a lot of the time too, but they are a symptom of everything we westeners (I'm British) hold dear about our way of life.
