    Since these SCO dicks seam to be able to make cash on this maybe I can

    I developed some Linux code some time in the past under a different name. But I well not tell you where the code is or when I entered it. Though I well give you a hint of what this code looks like

    Contains the words "Hello World Eh". This is very different from the "Hello World" that others have used. But Now I need to pay off collage loans and such, so now I will ask to be paid for my hard work and time put into the linux code. But I am at least not as stupid as SCO (IE I have more then 2 brain cells, and yes one of there 2 is missing).

    I in this basement bargain price well ask for a total of 6.99 per CPU. But Hurry now, Within 15 min's this price well go to 13.99$. Why the raise in the price, just because I feel like it, and realize I have a better chance of being hit by lightning, a meteor, and seeing flying pigs, while winning 4 different major lotteries at the same time then collecting on this requested cash.

    Also I well be suing IBM for using code I did not write, or own, but that was used in linux. WHY, well seams SCO can do it, why can't I. and to represent me in this court case, I well bring in none other then my Dog Hearshey. I believe this dog has as much chance against IBM as SCO dose against IBM.

    In conclusion, People get yourself a VERY BIG LART, and find the local SCO representative. Personally I like to use a 4x4x8 for my LART, as no matter how much KY you add to it, it is not going to feel good.

    Well going over the speed limit of say 100 km/h is not legal, yet everyone here in Canada goes about 120 - 130 on the 401. The OOP (police) give out tickets left and right, but hey, people still speed. So jailing a few people over file sharing well in no way stop the file trading.

    Also on the point made earlier in the forms that RIAA believes if I download 100 songs, they have lost 100 sales. Most companies would see it this way, but there is one flaw in this logic. If I had to buy the CD's, then I would probably buy only 1 or 2 CD's with the songs I relay enjoy. Not 100 to have 100 different songs that are nice, but nothing I would be to excited over to pay the record industries outrages CD costs. Also I still Buy CD's so RIAA is not losing cash on me.

    Back 3 years ago when rogers installed cable in my house, besides leaving a nice hole in my just finished computer room wall (we got the net free for a month and the 150 install charge waved for that moron) we also got a few fun pieces of software. The guy was sopose to come in the afternooon when I got home and well he came in the morning meaning no one who knew anything about computers was home and no one home knew we had a spot already in the wall for the cable o go to. But checked up on the software, one was a cliend that would send weekley info of what web pages you viewed (don't rember name) the other I beleave was for tech suppport allowing them to take control of the pc. Neadless to say after reading the contract, I found nothing int here saying we had to run this well unwanted software so it was quite quickealy uninstalled. That and the pc was scedualed for a format the next week just to be on the safe side.

    As far as I am concerned what they did was illegal, we did not sign for that software, and it can be considered a invasion of privacey. But at this point what well you do besides bitch at them over the phone. But someone running a home buisness having the software could end up finding rogers knows a little more aout his buisness then anyone should. And I see that as a major issue. Now on a further note I know of friends who have had rogers installed around the same time and where present during the install to find they never receaved this software. But random people did have it installed, odd eh.

Seams to have been /. , but for some reason I am betting there is that one line that they can and we all know well use when they see code the actualy like / want. And well that should not take long considering the quality of there code, even the hello world they produced crashed on me the other day. Tsalk about quality.     Back home whe I was in grade 4 (i can actualy rember that far back) we where rushed out of school to a fire alarm in the afternoon. What did we see but the science teacher walking back from a small pond behind the school looking loke he had taken a dip in.

    It turned out earler that day he was cleaning out the chemistary lab (this school went from 1 to 12, big place) and found a semi rustey can leaking oil in the back. Now most chemestry teachers would realize things like Sodium and other things are stored in oil to prevent them from exploding if they come in contact with water. Wel this teacher not having a chemestery background thought nothing of it. Later that day he took this can of oil back to the pond and tossed it in. He started to walk away when the can did a mini depth charge scean you see in a WW2 movie, compleatealy soking him and cassing people int he school to beleave it happened in the school and pull the alarm. I don't rember all the details like exactaly what chemical was but I rember he was not there for grade 5

    Well the other day I was talking to a friend who just did a compleate study for a large companey here in canada he works for. The study, should tye move from 2000 to XP. things taken into account are advantages and disavantages for the change, security, and ease of movement. Probaly more but hey I was not taking notes. And gess what, the resport says that there realy is no advanatage to move to 2000 and XP only has some more things built into it (which can be more issues then they want to deal with). Security, 2000 has proven itself some what secure, and no real security advanatage could be found. and cost, well M$ would have basicaly screwedthem out of a LOT of cash for basicaly nothign big.

    Personaly I have tryed XP, and reality is, its 2000 with a new look and more crap built into it. And I have had issues with som much software bult and integrated right into windows before. So adding more is seen as a bad thing unless m$ can put out beter quality code.

    So in all honesity, I have seen no reason personaly of by study for anyone to waste there hard earned cash on XP if they are alreasy running win2000.

    now my next thought is, how can the collage justify forcing people to either buy a copy of XP or pirate it (and we know the free thing well be more popular). I would not be suprised the university has grants or somthing from M$. But hey what do i know right.

    Also one last note, if the school is wanting security why are they not forcing fire walls instead, or better yet making students use linux. Just a thought here

    ?If this passess, then well they well be given the right to do what others would be jailed for. If I decide that I am against somthing, such as Paypal (just a example) and I decide to DOS them, and case damage by doing do. Then hell paypal is not ging to be happy and can get cops on me if thye wish.

    Now we are saying that if this bill passess, then the RIAA well be alowed to DOS psp networks. Now considering how DOS works not only is the guy next to my house get DOS, but I get it to. It would affect the general area to be honest. Now lets say my system takes damage, software messed up ... what ever, I can't get anyhting from RIAA.

    There are countless examples I can go into but hey my time is worth cash. But also noote one thing, this is a US bill. I am in canada, so what happens when they do a DOS attack that goes over the border. If my companey is hit because soem one ran kazaa on our network even tho its not alowed. Then well they can mess up corporate data and such. Now this just became a VERY tuchey subject.

    I find it interesting no one has mentioned gaming in this talk. Personlay I do a lot of gaming, keeps me from killing the marketing drownes where I work. But now I go onto game spy and see 10000 people playing medal of honor. the thouhgt came to me of exactaly how much band width is sucked down in online gaming.

    I decided to try it out, ran in a game of medal of honor, and watched the throughput. Neadless to say I saw a constant of about 10 k/sec. I know this sounds like a good 56 k modem speed at best. But start doig math, and you get some big numbers (my math sucks so I an't doing it here).

    Now do we stop playing games online, Hell know. Do you realize how many marketing drownes could die from this. Yes soon, my ISP rogers well be caping my line at I beleave 8 gig a month. So Say Myself, my brother game online a bit like normal. My father, broter and me decide to surf the net, and then ontop of that the new linux iso comes out (Generaly A few new ones per per month). Then start doing more math. while my head hurts from thinking about doing this math, I can tell you it blows by 8 GB.

    I can understand the ISP's reason for wanting to cap, but in general, most customers only grab a few mp3's, surf, and game. And you would be extreamly suprised what this well sick down in terms of bandwidth. So what ISP's are forcing us to do is take a step back, not forward. It well hurt them in the long run because people well not want to pay extra cash because they decided to play a game of Quake 3.

    One last note, Look, a DSL in my area has not caped and is not planing to, while Bell has and Rogers is about to. I know of many people who jumped to rogers when bell caped, so they well all jump to look when rogers caps. In my eyes, for some of the ISP's here in toronto to cap is like beating your head against a brick wall, It can realy hurt you.

    Now lets take this way of thinking in a operating system. If a operating system is not great, then it well not be popular. Now when windows hit with 95 and 3.1, basically there was no
    real other os on the computer shelves that had the same gui for pc, or was as easy to get a hold of. So the masses well buy it.

    Now that multiple operating systems are easily avaible, anyone who realizes what a good operating system is well use it. The more who use it the more popular the operating system gets.
    And we as the users (the smart ones anyway) thrust the power upon RedHat.

    Now Microsoft was given power by base line consumers who where given few other opportunities hence they put power on it. As microsoft promised much. But when the day is over,
    most have seen that Linux has proven to be the greater of the systems, and RedHat one of the best of the distributions. So we thrust power upon RedHat.

    As long as redhat uses the power responsibility, then RedHad well be here for a long time, but can not be compared to the daemon of microsoft who have abused power.

  14. Actualy used a Dick the other week on Death to the 3.5" Floppy? · · Score: 1

    Well to be honest I have had to actualy use a flopy disk the other day. Dam took me 1/2 a hr to find one. And another hr to find one that was actualy working. But I have a very good reason, it was on a old 486 server running ms Dos. Don't ask, they have it it works.

    But on my Pc's at home I do have floppy disks but I don't even think they work as I have not tried in over 2 years. since CD-RW drives hit, I have had no use of flopy disks, and have even found that flopy disks are more expensive then buying cdr's.

    I have been downloading mp3's back when it was all ftp's and in the back allys of the net. And so have a lot of my friends and we all agree that when we are downloading mp3's we seam to buy more cd's. And make things worse I like imports, meaning double the price so we are talking 30 - 50$ canadian for the stough I buy. But for about 3 or 4 months I have not realy been downloading, and neather have my friens. Manily because we where all in co op jobs so little to no time. Byt when we got back in school and they gave us back the laptops (sheridanc makes us lease laptops) we all start downloading mp3's again. And hay wate we find our selves visiting the local cd store looking for more cd's with a artist of a specific sone we enjoy.

    So this is 4 people all experencing the same thing when it comes to CD's. When we download mp3's we buy more cd's.

    To me its very simple, getting mp3's makes you hear more music, and if you realy like a artist, you will want more of that artists music. And you want to hear it in the car and other places. You can make cd's but the sterio system sI use are clear enough that I can tell the diffrence between a real CD and one I made. So I will buy it. Its just that simple

    ok well i was not going to post. But hell but u are missing some math. I make Canadian dollers. You make us dollers, so dam hey if we both make 50,000 a year. But if my cash is worth .65 of your cash, then these prices even out. So 80$ in canadian seams high for us as 80$ in us would seam high to you.

    Now as for this math thing. Then well if they improve the speed and give me decent service then well I would pay 80$. But the service has been well crap. So for me to pay 80 $ i want less restrictions and better service all around. Else I might as well pay just a little extra say 100 and get a buisness line.

    Well after reading all this the guy at the next desk had to ask why I was laughing so hard. I showed him and he could not stop laughing. I believe it have made its way around the office.

    I can't believe these toys are bad for kids, I remember being a kid having all sorts of action figures such as GI GOE and transformers. And my toy box was not complete without a few Rambo toy guns or something like this. Talking to my father before, he has basically said the same thing. And right now I am a collage student who is coming off with straight A's and has already gotten job offers, so I don't think I turned out that bad. So

    Most kids understand that things like this are just for fun, so why should you shield them from kids. The world is a mean place, plane and simple. You should let your kids figure this out instead of babying them to the point they thing every person is nice.

    This reminds me of the day Harry Potter came out (I have not seen it yet) people where handing out pamphlets at the door explaining how the movie is immoral and evil. I wish I had to have gone to a theater to talk to one of these people because it would have gone something lie this.

    I have nothing against the Bible but its is full of stories of death and destruction, but we still read it. So why should we shield our kids from every little thing in this world. It just doesn't make sense.

    I believe AMD / IBM should develop this to the point it could be released say in 3 or 4 years. Right now the chip market is moving to the 0.13-micron mark. Imagine an Athlon with a 0.015 micron setup. AMD would have such a advantage over Intel at that point that it would not be funny. If they don't implement this until 2009, then Intel might beat them to the punch by developing there own 0.015-micron technology, or just pay IBM cash for the designs.

    I can see it now, a dual AMD Athlon system running 10 GHz per processor at a 0.015-micron chip scale. Now that's speed

    Rent music, that another good one. Let me guess, they have backing from the RIAA (this is just a guess). Te only use I see for this is if you want to hear music before you buy the cd's then you can rent the song. But even then, I can go to HMV and get them to let me lessen to the cd for free.

    Now here's another thought, if/when the company goes under, then dose the music you have payed for and where still planning on paying for still be usable or well it be auto deleted or something.

    If this were the only way to get music over the net, I would just buy cd's (and I buy more cd's since I have been downloading mp3's if anyone is interested). At least then its my music with no real risks of losing it because a company goes bust.

    Well to be honest, I have been watching this sine the first Athlons came out and proved that Pentium was not all that. So far AMD has been able to bask down Intel at every turn. The 2 ghz p4 is still slower then amd's athlon 1900 (1.6 GHz). Its not the speed, its what you can do per clock cycle, and amd chips dose do a lot more.

    But reading the article, I find that the again go after the ghz number,

    Of these, the P4 Northwood could be the most compelling CPU release of 2002

    Their reasoning, the p4 well be unto the 4 GHz barrier in a few months. The Athlon is planning to make some jumps as well which, makes this sounds to me like the article is written by someone leaning towards the users who love big GHz numbers and not real speed.

    What makes this even funnier is the fact that most users could buy a 1 GHz and still play the latest games and the other things in 2 or 3 years.

    Lets see, I am betting within days, this Virus (that's what it is, the FBI can say what they want) ends up on say computers in Canada. What I want to know is what they well do to prevent non us computers from being infected. From what I have been reading, they are not doing a thing meaning even tho I am not in the US, they can still see what I am doing.

    Now her is how you prevent yourself from getting the virus.

    1 don't open he .exe on e mails, my friends never send me exe on e mail because they do the same thing I do, del it

    2 Use a firewall. Got a fire wall/dhcp running on a p120 Linux system. This means they would literally have to hack the firewall to get to my systems. Do they really have the time to hack my system that is non US

    3 Just don't run windows (or at least on the computers you ar doing bad things on).

    I am already splitting a cable line in my house to 5 different computers. I use a old p120 as a dhcp/firewall to split off to the other 4 main computers. If they do come up with a better protocol than NAT that allows them more "control" over devices behind my cable modem" they are going to come smack into my firewall. This would stop their protocol cold.

    So what dose this mean, not much if you put in a fire wall on a old computer worth 50$ which in the long run would cost less then paying for a few extra ip's.

    I believe something like this is needed so people committing crimes over the net form a different country can be brought to justice. So having this is good, but read it carefully. It basically gives them a huge amount of rights. They even suspect anything and your actions on the net are watched, your pc can be sensed and so on.

    So if used correctly, this can be a good tool to help stop crime o the net. But wait a minute; the DMCL was meant to help the little guy when used correctly. And we all know how well the dmcl worked out. I fear something similar may happen to this.

    One thing I know talking to a friend who was on a microsoft programming team. They do not get bonuses on quality / security of code, but on the fact of how fast they can get it out for cash. Basically as I was told, there software is never really fully tested. With 2000/nt, until patch 2 came out for either of them, they where riddled with security holes and bugs. Microsoft is a moneymaking company, not a quality software company. From someone as big as microsoft, they easily could test there products extensively, but that would cut down on there profits. O dam we could not do that to pore old billy boy gates could we.

    Personally, I would not care if microsoft is a monopoly if they would be some what inventive (they just re vamp others ideas) and put out quality code.
