    I know such always get critized by customers and it's Sony here... But lets try to look at it objectively. Running online services costs money. Running online services that are constantly improved, have new items or classes or whatever rolled out and the game being balanced all the time cost a lot more money

    So, your logic is that it costs SONY more to run servers when someone purchases a game off me and wants to play it online, than when I play it online myself?

    OpenOffice is good, but it's not a full replacement for modern versions of Office. If all you're doing is authoring memos and papers (by yourself) it will suffice, though. What's with the random dig at Nebraska, though? The state has plenty of social conservatives and plenty of liberals (see: Omaha) -- there's no reason to slam a pretty respectable university over your stereotype.

    Just because formal charges have not been filed does not mean they are not guilty of breaking the law. Also such charges are rarely pressed against organizations. But Wikileaks is breaking US Law by knowingly publishing Classified Documents. Visa and MC are both headquartered in the US. It is in their best legal interest to not do any business with any organization that is blatantly violating our National Security laws.

    You don't need courts and judges in the US anymore then. I mean, what's the point of wasting taxpayer's money and actually pressing charges and going to trial, when they can just consult you to tell them if someone has broken the law?

    I'm tired of hearing people bleat on and on about "international law". A law is only applicable if it can be enforced otherwise it's just a bunch of bureaucratic posturing. Also to be "international law" countries would have to surrender their sovereignty and that will not happen anytime soon in the US or any other country with a measure of common sense. Sort of like the political witch hunt posse know as the ICC. The US was roundly criticized for not siging up for this political motivated court. China, Russia, India, or Japan also did not sign up for this but you never hear any complaints about them.

    Yeah, but China, Russia India or Japan were not the ones pushing for ICC to get created.

    They are a private company and not the government, so of course they can decide who they do business with, and who they dont.

    I guess it'll be fine if I open a bar in NYC and hang a sign that says "We don't do business with black people and Indians".

    I can go spend real $$ on PLEX on CCPs website. I then get a item in game that is called PLEX.

    I can take said PLEX and sell it on the eve online market for ISK.

    I can then take ISK and buy SHIPS, AMMO, etc.

    If he had a modicum of common sense he would steer very well clear of people engaging in activities that are illegal in the country in which he resided. Alternatively he would realise that just by knowingly providing a place where people could discuss illegal activities english law would consider him an accomplice. The english legal system does not have any decent protection of freedom of speech and we have no bill of rights. The police in this country do not even need to ask a judge before writing themselves a search and seizure warrant any more.

    The same way if someone in North Dakota fires an arrow up into the air and it lands in the chest of a little Canadian boy on the other side of the border the American who fired the arrow can be extradited and tried for breaking the Canadian laws regarding murder because the countries have extradition treaties. How is this at all confusing? Just because someone breaks the law online doesn't mean the legal system can't possibly figure things out because your in a different country AND online.

    So, if American hacks into Chinese server, you agree that it will be ok to extradite said American to China?

    Or even better, if you insult King of Thailand, you just broke some Thai laws. Therefore, you should be extradited to Thailand.

    It's looking increasingly like this year is going to be the year of the hacker. It's a new security breach every week (often several per week). It's getting to be quite dizzying.

    Gonna be a tough year for IT security "professionals".

    Professionals left that world and went onto other things when suits concluded that security products are enough.

    So now, it'll be hackers vs security products and trained monkeys. Fun all around.

    Both of the scenarios involve groups who believe in their rightous cause and are willing to break the law and create harm to others to prove their point. One is certainly more extreme and damaging then the other however by condoning one you are implicitly condoning the other. Who gets to decide what constitutes a "good cause" that justifies breaking the law?

    Everyone decides that for himself. That's why you have a brain and should use it.

    If next year government introduces a law that says you have to jump off the bridge once a week, you'll be a good citizen, right?
