  1. Re:This is just fud on Apple Responds to iTunes Spying Allegations · · Score: 1

Not for me. I tested it. Did you? If I play a song that was ripped from a CD, the mini store shows other albums from ONLY that artist. If I click on another artist that I riped from a CD, the store changes to show JUST the next artist that I select. I don't get a list if all of the most downloaded songs from iTunes like you indicate.

  4. Just add a pinch od SCO. on Microsoft to Buy Stake in AOL · · Score: 1

These are two of the most despised companies. Maybe they should both buy stake in SCO. This way we can focus the public disdain on just one company, and Slashdot would only need one topic icon. I propose we use Satan as the icon.

  5. It will work on SiteKey to Prevent Phishing · · Score: 1

It will work because I doubt phishers are up for a challenge. They will just target websites that don't have extra security precautions.

If all banks do this, it's a different story. They will find a way to exploit the system. It should work for a while though.

  6. It bothers me! on Hackers, Spelling, and Grammar? · · Score: 1

Bad grammar and spelling does bother me. My family is very bad at both spelling and grammar. I'm not sure how I ended up with good spelling and grammar skills. I don't harp on people too much about it though. However, when I can't understand someone's sentences, I am very bothered.

For example, a simple misplaced comma can change meaning.

Push this button to deactivate the system and sound the alarm.
Push this button to deactivate the system, and sound the alarm.

Those sentences have different meanings. The first sentence implies that pushing the button will sound the alarm. The second sentence implies that you need to also sound the alarm.

Sentences like the following are even more annoying.

hi john how are you doing im doing good do you want to go to a movie tonight

A sentence like the above one takes several scans for me to know what the hell it means.

I can handle small mistakes (I'm sure I even make a few), but when I can't understand the sentence, things have gone too far.

I love del.icio.us. The only reason I use Firefox over Safari is because of del.icio.us. I have the same live bookmarks on my bookmarks toolbar on my PC, Mac, and work PC, without having to import them when I make changes on one computer. If I bookmark something at work, it shows up on my Firefox bookmarks toolbar at home.

Also, I have a live bookmark on my mother's, and on a friend's computer. All I have to do is tag something as "Mom", or "Joel", and it will show up in their bookmarks in Firefox.

When my 70 year old mom asks, "Where can I get cheap ink cartridges?", I will add a bookmark to her Firefox. All remotely.

FM receivers on these devices are popular at gyms. An area of society that eludes most Slashdot readers. Most of the TV's at the gyms are muted, and broadcast the sound on an FM frequency. A quality FM receiver is not needed there.
