I have a TiVo and I think it would be great if Amazon purchased them, because TiVo is pretty sad right now. Their boxes are slow, buggy and fail at playing video from streaming services fairly often. They reboot more often than Windows and their iOS app is pathetic.
Amazon is actually pushing their AMZL service to do just that. They've talked about letting other companies us it. Eventually, it could be general-purpose delivery service. Only problem is they totally suck at actually delivering stuff, so that's maybe more of a distant goal.
You might be able to find some of the older MBP's with the normal ports and Mag Safe. They just discontinued them, so there's likely inventory somewhere.
Presumably it's the first meeting that's 90 minutes, then they keep selling stuff and installing it with shorter meetings. Many people will fall back on the established relationship because it's easier than going elsewhere. I'd never invite them into my home, but I'd guess readers of this site aren't their target audience.
A number of "home service" companies hire local companies, including Home Depot. They all suck, because the large corporation can't vet the sub and people who are doing well won't take their crap jobs. They are no threat to BB of what they are doing takes off.
Sounds right. I stopped going there years ago. Most stuff was either:
1. Shipped direct from China and generally garbage with long ship times. 2. Priced over MSRP and/or current prices on Amazon. 3. Have such poor descriptions and photos, I can't even tell what's being sold.
Although in fairness, #3 is a problem for amazon as well. I can't count how many movies or shows I've looked up to purchase on Blu Ray and they have basically no information as to what's included.
The rare situation where I find something that's obviously made in China but being sold by a US seller, I've found that it rarely lives up to the description. Either it doesn't work or it lasts like a week.
I have tons of stuff I'd sell on eBay, but even all the stories I read and here from people directly about fraud and how eBay handles it, I'll just toss it in the dumpster. Not worth the trouble for $10.
I don't use 1Password, but I do use Apple's iCloud key chain. I view this as potentially positive for me, since Apple's solution barely works and is not cross platform. A fun example, if you run out of space, macOS deletes your keychain. Even with iCloud enabled, it will never bring it back. Apple just can't do cloud services, so maybe buying something that works is a good idea.
I think you mean PCB for Phone Click Bait, which seems to be what they are calling for. That's basically all people watch on phones anyway. I'd never watch Westworld on a phone.
Sounds like Mr Stankey's big idea is to be like Netflix. By the time they figure out how to do that, Netflix will be 10 years ahead of them. He's chasing the past not looking toward the future. Seriously, how do people this dumb get to be executives?
We laugh, but based on the idiotic statements from Mr Stankey referenced in the excerpt above, I'd say we have pretty good odds of something like this show. I've heard pretty stupid things from executives before, but Mr Stankey is a cut above on the moron scale.
I blame Bixby, about the worst digital "assistant" I've ever seen. I bet that Bixby is "interpreting" actions or words to do something stupid...
That's probably the answer. They added bixby for marketing reasons, since all the cool kids have digital assistants and they needed one as well. It's just that they can't write decent software. Having had a Samsung phone for doing Android development, I know I'll never get another one because their software is just so bad.
I can't figure out how to find new shows that I'd like. It's claimed they produced 1000 hours of original content last year. I can't find most of it, apparently. They just recommend the same few shows over and over again. They've been sending email about recently added shows they think I'll like, but they have been so far off base of late. More like "here's a show we know you'll never watch but we paid heavily for it, so please?"
I'm burned out on Marvel shows, since almost all of them are the same on Netflix. Most of the other shows are trying too hard to be "edgy" and are just boring. Even the opening theme/graphics are nearly the same on every series anymore.
It's impossible to find anything good for young kids, too. It's like they lease all the crap that doesn't sell elsewhere and not much else. I started a few of their series with my kid and they were so embarrassingly bad I couldn't imaging anyone green lighting them. We set up a kid's profile, and now it's taken to recommend all sorts of non-kid friendly shows. That's a recent change. TV MA and effectively PG 13 shows for a kid well under 10. It has to be intentional, since they seem to really, really, really and to push some shows to make them a "hit."
On the other hand, their UI is still better than Amazon's. It's almost non-functional. I've maybe watched a single series there and nothing else.
As for the original article, I haven't figured out how to rate a movie or show in years. No wonder it's being removed.
The broken and scratched discs was a top reason as to why we left. After sending back one movie twice to get a working copy, I lost interested in what I was trying to watch. I noted that based on how many we watched in a month, I could just buy discs for about the same amount of money since getting anything recent was almost impossible.
As a human, I find it nearly impossible to find the recycling plastic type logo on most products. Many just don't have them, or they are printed on the cardboard insert that is separated before recycling. Many are molded so poorly that you can not make out what they say. I say just collect all plastic, of all types, shred and incinerate it to make electricity. A large-scale plant can do this efficiently and cleanly. Much better than dumping it in the landfill or ocean.
And a good 50% of the plastic I get isn't even recyclable by my area anyway. They take HDPE, but only from milk jugs and related products. Not the small pill bottles from the pharmacy which are all HDPE. Most stuff is "PS" or "Other".
Timestamp as I recall/guess. Not very secure, but then that's the point of this article. Maybe it encodes that using some algorithm, but there's no networking.
Nearly every keycard lock made (perhaps until recently) has absolutely no communication with anything. They are programmed by they keys. When a new guest inserts a new card, all old ones are deactivated. No communication needed. They are made to be cheap. Many have a secret port to reprogram them, however.
How do I know? I used to evaluate these systems. Newer locks use RFID which may be better.

Step 3: Profit!
But with an online course, he may be better than Watson.
I don't think he's that dumb to commit securities fraud.

Be careful. Many stores have separate SKUs for those "up front" connivence items and they cost more. Or they push the stuff that expires sooner.

Come on, give him proper credit. From that article, he seems sexist, too.

I'm surprised he didn't just say "we need to work smarter, not harder. Well, smarter and harder until I get my bonus. Then screw you all."
I had @home in the early days. What a complete waste of a company. Almost nothing worked besides their basic internet service.
I think you mean PCB for Phone Click Bait, which seems to be what they are calling for. That's basically all people watch on phones anyway. I'd never watch Westworld on a phone.

Good news for Apple's new streaming TV service, for sure.

You didn't mention "marketing". Not sure how, but with Samsung, it's probably some dumb marketing feature gone awry.
Their new interface is pretty terrible.
