... from $36 bucks to a full $3600... will be the test bed for the Windows Vesta launch.
Vesta? Those freakin' bastards! Sure, the buy in will be $36.00, but then they'll charge $283.00 for the sleeves, and then what will I do when winter comes?
Myth can be setup to automatically power up to record (using the BIOS), and then shut the computer down again marking the new wakeup time to start recording again once it's finished. Any regular use of Myth (watching pre-recorded shows, live TV, etc.) delays the shutdown.
It's true. My wife has gone from complaining about my expensive computer hardware purchases to giving me her pay bonuses (which used to go to clothes and books) to purchase more computer equipment.
I've still got 23 floppies with a zip-spanned copy of Outlook 98 that was given away for free a number of years ago. Now if only I had a computer with a floppy drive...
Maybe it's me, but perhaps I missed the Sluggy Freelance Expo? I tried to like Sluggy, but for whatever reason it never really stuck. Maybe I'm too much of a linguaphile and am addicted to Tycho's posts?
Call me crazy, but I think the XBox 360's specs would include a wireless controller (and the ability for four), HD AV out to a TV, a headset, XBox Live subscription for a year, and most importantly replaceable multi-colored face plates!
But seriously though, most of these things don't really compare easily, if at all... Who uses four wireless controllers regularly with their computer? I have four player games all the time- how would you compare Live service? Maybe a WOW subscription? But the XBox's service covers all the games.
When it all comes down to it, they're different things- hence the polarization here, IMHO. People that would benefit more from a PC lean to that, where people with outdated computers or a lack of skill for building their own, or people who want a plug-it-in-and-go integrated system up front gravitate toward the XBox.
Ah- I think you mis-spelled it. You obviously haven't read the third book, or seen the third movie so I won't spoil it all for you. Suffice to say, the ring has been destroyed.
The office I support had a machine that lost it's processor fan and died earlier this year- it was so old (P166) that the motherboard had to be replaced because we couldn't find a processor to fit in it, which meant we had to spend about $250 for a newer mobo/processor combo.
About four or five days later, his own (secondary) computer started making a bit of fan noise, but just on boot up. He pointed the noise out to me, and I said a new fan would cost them about $6.00- I'd go pick the thing up tomorrow morning.
The next morning I come in to check on the box, and it has a two inch hole drilled in the side of the case, which is covered in packing tape. Curious, I pulled the box out to take a closer look, and found two more holes on the other side of the computer. When he comes in a few hours later, I ask him about the holes. His explaination:
Well, I was worried about the computer overheating and frying this one too- so after you left last night, I took the case off and cut a hole in the side with the dremel tool so I could look in and check on the fan to make sure it was spinning. But I cut the hole on the wrong side and all I could see was the bottom of the motherboard, so I took it back off and drilled another hole on the opposite side. Except now, when I look in the hole, my face blocks all the light, and I can't see in to see the fan anyways. So I drilled another hole to shine my penlight in. It took me about three hours to get it all working, but now I can check the fan any time I want just by climing under my desk and shining the penlight in.
At this point, the look on his face made it very apparent that he was sure I was about to comment on his un-hindered genius. It was everything I could do not to double over on the floor when I explained that I could install BIOS fan monitoring software, or, since it was his second and normally unused computer- He could have just turned it off for the night, and I could replace the fan now for $6.00 and five minutes.
He doesn't say directly, but it can be inferred that he has poor managerial skills as well. What's he doing when someone is fixing his computer? Sitting and watching. How is he handling his team? Poorly- the entire team is upset, people are getting desprate, look where they're asking for goodness sake!
Looks like a communications issue- I think the GP was expecting the Excel file to be infected with the viruses- I did RTFA before posting, but I figured that I must have misunderstood.
BTW, OpenOffice opens Excel files just fine in my experience, Windows or Linux. Still, I see your point. Why not just release the information in the post?
But how would you determine 'normally'? By prompting the user?
You've changed data in a cell, are these changes ok?
I don't see AV software companies jumping from the signature-based detection just yet. No, this is just another bullet point to add to a list of features: * Guaranteed to catch know-viruses with your current signature update! * Catch new viruses before we even know about them 95% of the time! * Send us your money now, and then send more to us again later!

<Insert Sony product fleecing joke here>
It's all in the .sig...

Worry not! I believe one of GW's proposals for the mission to Mars involves an orbital sifter array.
Only partially true. It's finished, but they're waiting for April 1st to make their announcement on Slashdot.

Kinda, only for porn with cucumbers and carrots.
PA's just more popular, really.
You'll use the Charmin like everyone else! And open a window or something...
Microsoft: Where do you want to go today?
Google: Do no evil

Thbpbhphbphphphbttt!!!
Still, reading your post, I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not?

You too? So, ah- when's the anniversary?
Ow! Love you too, honey! Hey, wait! Put the bat down!

/me furiously twirls "numchucks" about and hits self in the nuts.
But this way, tomorrow's story won't be a dupe!
(Please don't mod me redundant!)

Why not just scan the zip file? Your AV program should be able to uncompress it safely.
So.... within ten years?
And just think! Now, I'... er.. he'll only need seventeen disks for backup!
