    I've got grade 2 piano and no IT qualifications, and yet I'm working in IT instead of busking my way through chopsticks.

    If that wasn't enough, news outlet MarketWatch reported on Friday that Susan Mauldin's LinkedIn page was made private and her last name was replaced with "M", in a move that appears to keep her education background secret.

    I doubt it has anything to do with keeping her education background secret, and more to do with simply wanting to disappear until this particular shit storm blows over. Lot of (rightfully) angry people out there, some of whom might do (unrightfully) angry things.

    The issue I have with your statement is the conclusion you've leapt to. Why should teleportation be possible because space is relative? It makes no sense. There's no link there. You may as well have said that telepathy is possible because we have dreams.

    In order to maintain Moore's Law -- by which transistor density doubles every two years or so -- it now takes 18 times as many scientists as it did in the 1970s. That means each researcher's output today is 18 times less effective in terms of generating economic value than it was several decades ago.

    Firstly, no, it doesn't mean that.

    Secondly, Moore's Law is not the sole benchmark by which to measure technological progress. Not by a long way.

    Uber isn't doing anything. Their cab drivers are the ones absorbing the costs to take people to shelters.

    If Uber was doing something they'd reimburse the cost of fuel and time to their drivers

    Newton got his name attached to more than one concept. Newtonian mechanics and Newtonian fluids are two separate concepts.

    You'd be surprised what kind of impractical ideas people will try to get away with when looking for funding.

    The bump's outer layer must be flexible. This automatically makes it more susceptible to cutting.

    Newton did a lot of stuff, and got his name attached to a lot of things.

    One of them is Newtonian mechanics. Another is the term "Newtonian fluid."

    These are two separate concepts.

    91% accuracy...let's assume that gay men are 10% of all men. So this program will correctly identify 82% of men as straight, and misidentify 8% of straight men as gay.

    If 10% of all men are gay, it could just say "straight" every time and you're up to 90% accuracy already.

    In other words, not terribly useful.

    I fail to see how it could be "useful" in any way - any moral way, anyway - even if it was 100% accurate.

    The majority of stars are in binary systems, but this does not necessarily mean that the majority of life will be found in such systems.
