Wow. Talk about full of yourself. You really think someone's going to read that long scribe so that they'll better conform with YOUR preferred use of language?
What are you, delusional? Do you think anyone who's a non-geek even know what the Internet Archive or Creative Commons are? And why do you use the word "broken" so incorrectly? Flash and Silverlight work. When something doesn't work its broken. Something isn't broken just because you don't LIKE it.
How could modern humans be LESS intelligent than cavemen? There were only a few thousand cavemen, there's 6.7 billion modern humans. Yes we still fight wars but our periods of peace are much longer than our periods of conflict and its not like the whole world is fighting the same war at the same time, WW1 and WW2 aside, and those two combined lasted less than a decade.
As for the intellect of alien races, why do you assume they'd be peaceful? How do you know they wouldn't be more violent than we are? If there's a community of spacefaring races out there in contact with one another how could they avoid conflict for all of time? Some of their natures might even dictate violence.
You have arbitrarily chosen peace as a sign of intelligence and warfare as a lack of intelligence. This reflects your personal preferences almost certainly but this does not make your assertions fact.
The lack of deportations may have something to do with the populace wanting the country to be a bit better than it used to be back then when they were the norm. I sure as hell don't want someone deported just because they are an illegal immigrant. When they break some OTHER law then its on the table.
I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way either.
He's not wrong. He's abandoning a niche group of people, progressives, for a much larger group of people, moderates. Thats what you are supposed to do in a democracy.
Majority rules. Otherwise its not a democracy anymore.
Ok all of your very civilized and reasoned arguments aside, prison rape for Hans Reiser is NOT cruel and unusual punishment. You see he can recover from prison rape. His wife can never recover from being dead. Unless the state EXECUTES Reiser then its not a disproportionate punishment AND he's only going to have to endure prison rape for 15 years instead of life in prison as most murderers get.
You mean to the detriment to all 'freeloaders' right? Reasonable people don't mind paying others for their work/labor, only unreasonable freeloaders do.
I too am an atheist and I would be inspired if one was elected president given the current religious makeup of the country. And yes it has a lot to do with "golly gee, maybe that means _I_ could be president too!"
I'm black and I know we've been campaigning to be seen as equals but this excitement around Barack isn't coming from blacks. Blacks didn't even rally behind the guy until he won Iowa which was a majority white state. Blacks stuck with Hillary until Barack proved he was more than just the black candidate. No this excitement is coming from white people who want to believe their country has opportunities for all and not just them. Its one thing to say opportunities exist for everyone, its a whole other thing to actually see it happen.
I assumed you had aspergers because the emotional appeal of Obama's candidacy is obvious even to REPUBLICANS. So for you not to be able to understand it made me think there just might be something wrong with your brain. If I was wrong then I was wrong. This goes way beyond simple disagreement though. We could disagree on whats the best color shirt to wear to a party, but for someone to not "get" Obama's presidency whether you agree with his policies or not is just puzzling.
About your signature......there's nothing sad or shallow about wanting to be proud of one's country. The past 43 presidents the US has had have been white. Some were great, some were bad, most mediocre. Seeing as how the US has survived the worst presidents we've had even if Obama is just as bad as Bush it would still be inspiring to have our first black president. We'd get there even before the snooty French and other assorted European nations.
Don't really know why you are unable to grok this. Are you a highly skilled IT professional? Possibly afflicted with Aspergers syndrome? The lack of emotional perceptibility that comes with Aspergers might be why you can't see why Obama's candidacy is inspiring so many people.
Sticking one's head in the sand is just as bad as crying wolf. We haven't hit peak oil yet. We haven't even explored all of the oil fields in the oceans, under the two polar caps....etc. We're depleting the known fields yes, but we haven't even tapped the unknown fields yet.
I look at it in a completely different way, its incredibly flattering. They're still the ones who made it happen. Jobs just held them to the usual Apple standard, perfection.
As fro the keynotes, I've never been to one either. Apple always posts the keynote videos for the most recent keynote for months on their website until the next keynote comes along. Here it is for you: http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/0806wdt546x/event/index.html
Another reason by the way Apple doesn't point out the names of key engineers or lets them do interviews is to reduce the likelihood that they can be poached by competitors. It also gets everyone onboard with the mindset that talking to the media without approval just isn't done at Apple and this helps keep down on product leaks.
If you ever actually watched the end of keynote you'd see that often Lord Jobs asks the engineers to stand for a round of applause. The atmosphere of the company is secretive though. Most tech companies issue endless press releases and promises of things to come and then produce crap where as Apple stays quiet until they're actually ready to release something of value.
Thats more than a bit of wishful thinking. Most consumers don't care one bit what OS runs their phones. They're not in this for your revolution, princess.
The fact that iPhone owners use more data bandwidth than other smartphone owners flies in the face of your "brand whore form over function" assumptions of iPhone owners.
You are forgetting about an important group here, customers.
A platform with no customers won't matter even if its a developer's shangrilah.
That being said I'm sure Android will quickly rise to be the #2 platform after the iPhone becomes #1 but Apple's device will have more customers because it focuses on them. The average buyer doesn't care about open source or free software or even know what those things mean.
And if being open really mattered for mobiles then why is Blackberry #1 instead of Windows Mobile at the moment?
Keep in mind Apple is also trying to filter out crapware so that the AppStore doesn't gain a reputation for well... crapware.
The $99 fee makes sure only dedicated, customer focused, developers step forward instead of "scratch my own itch, fuck you if it doesn't serve your interests" free software developers.
At 6 million sold, I think the market is rejecting the assumption you have that the product is inferior. It ain't always about features, rather its about if you can easily use the features you do have without a prior knowledge of computer science.
You are making it sound like the only appeal of the iPhone is that its new and thus a "fad". You're totally ignoring the quality of the software on it, the user interface or all the apps that are coming for it.
"Further reading."

You are quite the Debby Downer today aren't you?

Maybe that was because the government was keeping prices artificially low at taxpayer expense?

Sounds like someone needs to learn the lesson that some freedoms are more restricting than the highest security prisons.
Whats it like to feel oppressed by entities that aren't really oppressing you?

His difficult nature has never been a secret. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
Stolen? You mean from that BSD license that encourages anyone to take and use the code legally?
Oh so you didn't really mean stolen then, you were just trolling.
Apple has user interface superiority for non-autistic humans. Thats what they really have.
Maybe not for you, but for Apple employees it obviously is what makes them want to get up in the morning.

So no, its not like that one trick pony RAZR.
And then subsequent updates unbricked the phones.
Make sure you get in all the pertinent details.
