    umm just about any company that would think of having stock has a policy of DO NOT TALK TO THE MEDIA WITHOUT CLEARING WITH MEDIA RELATIONS and yes they will approve everything that is said (or corp legal will be "talking" to the media) im sure that there is several meters of regs that need to be followed.

    odd with any distro released in the last 3 months (or so) you should be able to 1 connect any devices that present as a "mass storage device" and have a 50% chance they are auto mounted (and will show up as sd? even if they aren't automounted) 2 use 3/4 of the wired network cards running about (not counting cards that aren't functioning in any OS) 3 use 1/2 of the wireless network cards (possibly with a native driver but..) 4 use 80% of video cards (not counting cards that came out 6 months ago) the tools are out there (results may vary but..)

    what i would like to see i a study where a group of real live Amish farmers are split into
    4 groups
    1 Windows Pro Current
    2 MAc OS X.whatevers current
    3 BSD UNIX current
    4 Mandriva Linux 2006( with devel branch sources setup)
    each farmer is given a book with the basics (to include Login /password) and then given a list of tasks to do
    i wonder what the times would look like??
    (and yes i would give any tuning/patches needed and Mandriva was chosen due to it being real linux and newbie friendly)

    actually cards come in two different types credit cards = no real money behind them (except what the cardholder pays) debit cards aka check cards = real money with a possible "extra account" linked in in a credit card case (or with a debit card and a low tech shop) the card gets run and two copies of the bill are printed 1 gets signed and is kept at the shop for 5 years 2 gets handed to the buyer and may or may not be retained in a debit card case when the shop has the tech then its pin code time

    umm the two weeks thing is only if they decide to leave not you decide to remove them In the case of a firing you know they have done something wrong in the case of a resigning they could do something wrong (and this keeps them in handy if the wheels fall off)

    second best policy would be to have them serve out a 2 week notice but during that time
    they sit beside the person replacing them and help with the transition (note the new person is the one doing the actual work)
    (me on the VM thing i would reroute the box to the new person or have some sort of autoforward setup

    ie you enter Mr Andersons box and the software tells you "The box you have selected has been disabled please standby while you are redirected to the current person"

    A "Mandatory update" is patch that become REQUIRED to use the base program(s). Think of it this way lets say that federal law required that after #date all cars on the highway had to have new Blue colored tires (which just happened to have gps mini transponders in them). And the Police after that date started using M60s on cars that did not have the new Blue tires. Same kind of thing

    or how about the computer "killing itself" if you went total fusion because of what it did to you. truthfully how many times have "you" said to your computer "Would you please save me the trouble and discoporate!!" or something to that effect. heck if our computers could properly listen to us that would be half the battle.

    pardon me but 'computer software" was from the start "open source" since nobody thought to close the source since you might NEED to have somebody else help with the code so that it would work.
    SCO unix is a bastard copy of either or both of ATTUnix and BSD Unix both by custom open source (in fact i think The ToolChain had sections written by MR GNU himself.

    as it so happens the GSM carriers can use just about any (gsm) phone method

    1 do the signup and get a rock cheap phone
    2 buy/whatever your cool fancy and unlocked phone
    3 swap in the sim from the RCP
    4 profit!! (ebay the RCP for all it matters)

    I would figure that if you did this more than once (remember the quote that says 3 times is enemy action) i would not be supprised if you suddenly found your self "downtown" discussing this matter. (some stores have cameras that are linked to corp offices and yes they do see EVERYTHING)

    as it so happens there is a "no drm" marking for a sound media disc to be labeled with the Compact Disc Digital Audio logo it must contain only a series of 44,000hertz stereo (the hertz may be off) wav files and the filesystem glue (aka RED BOOK AUDIO) so if it has the logo.. (btw Phillips i think owns the logo and has sued over it)
