    If they need the papers to get the LEOs and they have a good chance of actually using the prefilled lawsuits
    then by all means they should have the papers done and a judge "on call".

    of course as "The Court" i would charge them the maximum allowed cost for the papers (no bulk discounts either).

    the biggest challenges are that of scale (you would have to somehow dock ships next to it and then either

    1 chop it into shipping container sized blocks and get them onto the ships
    2 tow it to somewhere they can melt it down and pump it into cargo ships

    i would think that making sure it doesn't cream a tanker (or other shipping) should be the biggest concern.

    Under the UCMJ as a member of the armed forces you are required to perform any lawful order but you do have some leeway.

    1 If you get ordered to run to %base% with package and the news that you are being overrun then anything that fufills those orders "counts" all the way down to collapsing at the Base Commanders feet (or the entrance guardpost).

    2 dinking around with stuff to get around WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN LAWFULLY ORDERED TO DO is not (this situation)

    3 The only cases where you can disobey a lawful order is
    A when the order is absolutely impossible (violating physical laws not having even close to the materials needed and no way to get them)
    B when %goal% has already been done by another person (you will need to report same of course)
    C When you can prove in an absolute fashion that the law you have been given is not a lawful order
    (but this is a huge risk since you may get clipped for not following orders/interpreting laws for a superior officer)

    Even if you could see everything at all times there will always be a possibility that something will happen and there is a nonzero chance of "something" being FATAL.

    And i would say NOBODY reading this will believe that any automaker can design a system that is actually even 99.999% effective.

    Part of the reason that the TSCOG thing is taking so long is that they know that when it gets to the IBM case
    THEY ARE CARBON.

    well lets start with The Fifth amendment slide by the Miranda regs and end up speaking about the rules of evidence
    (i think that they are not "allowed" to use any info prior to the reading of the Miranda text but will anyway).
    some Leos use the YOU ARE NOT UNDER ARREST ploy to try to skate by Miranda (its implied that it only applies when you are under arrest)

    The trick is we have 2 concerns

    1 disaster recovery (the hot copy gets destroyed)
    2 ensuring security

    If anybody wants to somehow compromise the system they would need to somehow gets hands on the keyset. Given that these persons are "targets of opportunity" i would bet that various TLAs know exactly where each of these folks are at any given time.

    So we have the possibility that in an attack Norm Ritchie goes missing then depending on the lag time every TLA in the area gets their hands on the other six on a "MY OFFICE YESTERDAY" basis.

    all y'all have to do is setup a few sub sub basements with a few racks and fridges and then move anybody that can
    hack the doors into the group (of course filter for the obvious "problems").

    a few hints
    1 most good hackers will have some sort of criminal record
    2 hackers may or may not like a normal uniform and the hair thing may be an issue
    3 when you have a group setup DO NOT VISIT DO NOT ASK "HOW" (plausible deneyability is a good thing)
    4 psych evals may be another issue

    quite frankly if you are that "worried" about color being accurate then you will have spent the US$200+ on a color calibrator (and of course a high end monitor)

    now wether that monitor has a glossy or matte surface (and what color any gels you have on the surface) is up to taste.

    1 why waste time reinventing the wheel when drop in solutions exist??
    2 2 hours is not enough time for a secure site (that actually works)
    3 how could you expect a random laptop (much less a MAC) will have a developers environment installed??

    and what should be said is not only no but HELL NO in fact both BP and the drilling company should be banned from US waters. (currently online rigs should be forfeited as part of the fines BP will be paying for the next hundred years)
