There's zero evidence of this parasite affecting human behavior so they try to use a correlation between cat owners and suicide to prove a theory. You ignore the obvious cause and embrace the obscure? This is on the level of saying crop circles are made by bored aliens instead of British rednecks with boards and strings.

Net freedom is a good thing up to a point. Leave it in the hands of the corporations and the internet bad guys and the net will be a disaster. Sales taxing the internet is no solution and anything that is legal should be allowed. People can say it's hard to decide which laws should apply to the internet but most people would agree on the obvious ones. Banning kiddie porn, identity thief and scams should be obvious. Letting Congress decide is nuts because most of them are internet illiterate. Better to get together a group that represent all sides to try to find common ground. If you have a serious need then it's a great thing but you have to be realistic because for a $50 cartridge you can probably make a handful of items that would cost a few bucks each. We're a long way from kids making their own toys to save money. Any part you make will be expensive. I've checked into some more industrial units that run off bulk stock and then you're talking something that costs the price of the plastic and electricity. It's a very high buy in but if you are using them a lot for practical purposes then they make sense.

I was expecting a few minutes at best so storing enough to run LED lights for 6 hours was impressive. The number of charge discharge cycles is a major question. What intrigues me is pairing this with spray on solar cells so you end up with a coating that collects and stores power. Imagine light poles that collect and store power then discharge it at night with no visible wires or solar cells. Also roofing tiles that collect and store energy. The real trick would be getting the life cycle to match solar cells which is actually quite long. Traditional cells wouldn't come close but pairing this with nano technology might make the cells more durable. Either way it's interesting technology. Ultimately though what it's likely to do is create devices that are completely disposable since the batteries are fully intergrated.

Romney can say it with a Presidential conviction that Obama could never muster. Obama would merely send in the marines to shoot them in the face. Just imagine if the aliens demanded health care! I'm missing the innovation? They rushed out an iPad clone. They made it close enough that the average person would be fooled into believing it's essentially the same thing. If it was innovative then there wouldn't be an issue. Even the OS looks like the iOS at first glance. I'm all for competition but they are trying to piggyback on Apple's success. It can be harmful to consumers since some are thick enough that they'll buy one then get home and find out they don't connect to iTunes and intergrate with their Macs the way they expect. Trust me it's not ridiculous I've seen it happen and a healthy percentage of the Galaxy sales are from people that either think it's the same or simply think it's an iPad from another maker. That's exactly what Samsung intended. Why not release one in colors unless the intent was to confuse? If the OS looked different and it came in colors I doubt they would have even gone to court. The shady companies used to do this like releasing a product under the name "Samsong" that looks suspiciously like a Samsung product. Now the majors are doing. Knock off products have now gone mainstream that's all that's changed.

The reason we run out all but completely by something like 2055, it may be 2060 now because of drop in demand, is we use too much and waste too much. If we cut usage by 50% we'd still have nearly a 100 year supply. Sound outrageous? Hardly. When you factor in older gas guzzlers like older SUVs, we are only managing 25 or 30 miles per gallon. Doubling that is 50 to 60 miles per gallon which some cars already do. Come up with sensible hybrids and we can probably make the average 60 to 80. By sensible I mean limited or no battery storage. Most of the waste is from constantly changing engine speed. Make the engine run at optimal speed then add in a limited battery storage just to buffer excess and cars wouldn't need to cost much more. The reason is the gas engine would be radically smaller since the car would be run by electric motors which are more efficient. There's extra hardware so the buy in would be a little higher but cutting your gas bill would save you money. Also with regenerative braking in city would be only a little lower mileage than highway since the engine is running at the same speed. You'd have unlimited range as well. Make the cars smaller and lighter and you save even more. It's why I always say conservation is the only real solution in the short term. Everyone says to build more nuclear plants which are very expensive. Switch to efficient appliances and bulbs as well as improve insulation and you save a bundle and we can shut down some coal plants instead of opening new nuclear plants as a stop gap. I used to live a half hour from my mother. She just redid her house with new windows and insulation and she had to replace her AC unit anyway. Her power bills are under a $100, usually $80. My bills for a similar sized house were $150 to $250. FYI why didn't I do the upgrades, I was renting. Most people would save the most for the cost of investment just by replacing their fridge which is the biggest energy pit. I'm against fracking but the up side of poisoned well water is cheap gas. Forget coal and nuclear build gas fired plants. Less pollution and you can build one in a quarter the time you can a nuclear plant. Decommissioning one is radically cheaper and they have a longer service life. There are fixes to get us through the next century and lessen environmental impact we just need the will to do it.
