Almost none of the parts, from CD drives to case share the same "standard color." I also think I remember that Ford used black on its Model T's because it made production faster, being that the color black dried quicker than other colors, and I believe is cheaper to produce. Is this a way for companies to increase production and lower costs as well?

Not to mention if you are hosting a site that is giving these programs away or if you give internet service to those who compromise systems then you are partly to blame as well. I find that those with more talent and knowledge in computers are less inclined to wreak havoc and more focused on finding out how to fix compromises to systems.

I can almost guarantee to you that a good percentage of sales this Christmas for the Xbox was due to misunderstandings to the similar names of the Xbox and the Game Cube. (you could argue the same on Nintendo but from what I understand GameCube was announced first) Now this thing is going to be called the Home Station (pretty similar to PlayStation)? After all there are no real landmarks or other solid navigational aids in space so it uses picture comparision on where it is and where to go next. 15. Re:Microsoft is not stupid. on Why The U.S. Surrendered To Microsoft · · Score: 1

I would like to reply to your comment about "ease of use" being the turn of the tide. I believe the open source movement should not waste its resources towards making its software "easier." For starters, isn't the whole open source movement about sharing and innovation for free? Why then do we waste our time arguing when MS does something in the market place. We are creating this software for those few enlightened and educated individuals who strive to learn and do more. By adding ease of use to the operating system to account for those who "just don't get computers" like my grand father we are contradicting this procession. Simply put, adding ease of use means adding restrictions in that you are only able to do what you should be "allowed" to do. Hasn't that been our major argument against MS? We have set our sites to "competeing against MS" (or other OS's) but to me from the very beginnings I always viewed open source as a "key" to the hungry for knowledge and creativity, not for makeing a buck. We can achieve much more than making a simple portal to the internet in order to buy and sell things; the internet has changed from pure access to knowledge to a big shopping mall. While that may be good to some, to me I believe its a waste of the potential for the internet. I am sorry if I went on a rant, but I hope you would agree, at least on most of my points.

The subtile difference is that in the second article they say "The trailer kicks off with a shot of a black, pig-like soldier, who is no doubt a minion of Ganon himself, bursting through a wooden door." Okay people is it just me or does this sound like two different stories? If what I am reading, and hopeing, they are doing is releasing two new titles of The Legend of Zelda saga. I don't believe that Nintendo would release this new system without some really killer titles from the getgo becuase they are going to be in strict competition with the Xbox. I think it would be very unlikely they would wait a whole year without some killer title such as TLOZ. After all the other highly anticipated title, Metroid Prime, doesn't look like its going to be finished anytime soon.
(Did anyone notice that the GameCube is released 5 days before the Xbox according to preordering on ebworld.com? I for one hope the 5 days helps to get the Xbox out of the market in order to keep Microsoft from takeing over yet another market.)
