Just wait until Microsoft finds out that all these broadcast flags will render their Media PCs functionally useless.
They will spring from Redmond by the thousands screaming broadcast flags are stifling innovation.
Maybe. Just maybe their monopoly might make a difference. But then again if they get a cut of the fee broadcasters will somehow try and extract for viewers for "recording" their favouriate televsion show instead of buying them on DVD at Best Buy then you all screwed!
OK, I've had enough of MS, Ballmer and company spouting off about protecting their customers against IP litigation, etc.
Lets end the bullshit now and have someone like IBM suit MS for patent violations and force MS to open up their source like Linux can to absolutely prove they do not violate anyone's IP.
Sure like Windows code is absolutely pure! It may be proprietary but that doesn't mean its pure... until ya prove Billie and SteveO!
Sure... like just - keep fighting terrorism - losing indivdual freedoms - stop thinking
For christ sakes... just because something isn't point click and done doesn't make it any less viable.
1. Windows Network Neighborhood visibility and UNIX/Linux visibility in the same panel.
XANDROS 2.0, Lindows, Lycoris, MEPIS
2. Active Directory password management which includes single sign-on and password expiration policies.
Novell Evolution embraces mail, calendar and address book standards to ease data sharing.
Supported mail protocols include IMAP, POP, SMTP and Authenticated SMTP, as well as Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003. Novell GroupWise support is currently in our development branch.
3. Interoperability with Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000.
See above
4. Font compatibility with Microsoft Office and Openoffice.org and/or StarOffice.
Crossover
5. Windows Terminal Server clients using RDP out of the box for home grown applications and special Windows applications.
Xandros, Lycoris, SUSE, RedHat... or just install VNC...
6. Ability to click on a file in a Windows or Samba share and initiate the associated application.
Fille association is not a roadblock. Simply a minor configuration issue.
I tried Xandros Open Circulation on the weekend and this distro is the closest to what a home user would expect from a "windowed" OS.
The install was FLAWLESS. Truly. Network setup a breeze and it even found my Windows shares and an OLD SoundBlaster 16 ISA sound card. I haven't had any problems with it since installing it.
I've tried many of the other distros and they are just not ready for the home or small business market. Its like the Linux community can't bring itself to simplify the environment in case they be compared to oh no... Windows.
Xandros is my new preferred distro and I'll certainly give NLD a try.
I can just imagine the fit Ballmar must be throwing about now in Redmond. I can just see his fat sweating body jiggling down the hall screaming at the top of his lungs while spitting on all those poor, developers, developers, developers.
Redmond's response should be VERY interesting indeed!
I tried the 19" Sony LCD and did not like the lack of crispness and the refresh problems. Everytime a web page is moved or anything is moving on the screen the entire screen seems to vibrate! Serious headaches!
I tried and now have an Apple 20" Cinemas Display.
I know it may not be within everyones budget but I can not recommend this monitor enough. Very crisp at 1680 x 1050! It truly is an unbelieveable monitor in every category! Wide view is especially helpful for peering around corners, etc.!:-)
Step Two: Applications. Thats with a "s" OpenOffice is a good start but office applications are NOT the only ones needed.
Step Three: Linux. Is still a pain in the ass to install along side or over top of Windows. NOT as USER FRIENDLY as many would think.
Linux needs to be able to install along side Windows and allow the user to select which programs will handle what file types using a very simle GUI during first start up or install. This will help the users make connections between the programs they're used to in Windows and their Linux equivilents.
Without things types of solutions Linux will not be adopted by the home masses simply because they can't or don't want to have to think about anything technical. Like TV. Point the clicker and press a button and it comes on. Press another button (icon) and programs just work.
Right on Steve! Better rub that shining fucking head of yours harder for your next big idea!
These MS tards are getting to be beyond belief. Honestly... now because MS didn't "capture" the market first everything else is the product of thieves, terrorists, whatever.
Listen, MS will NOT capture the livingroom because their technology is still either too fucking complicated (VCRs flashing 12:00 anmd black tape) or too fucking useless. And if consumers really want that functionality they'll buy it in a box that simply plugs into their TV (TIVO) not into their home network.
Ok is it me or is just about every fuckin' industry (even remotely associated with computers, software or hardware - RIAA, MPAA, etc) working double time with some "selected" monopolies...companies (Microsoft, INTEL sorta) to ensure their own monopolies are protected with the next generation of hardware or whatever-ware.
I think we need to develop an IP threat meter system that companies could use to illustrate to hardware and software users when their activities are starting to be recognized as threatening behaviour!
Give me a fuckin' break and start breaking this souless monopolies NOW!
When will everyone just admit the problem is with Microsoft's swiss cheese OS and monopoly developer policies!
I think that its only a matter of time before a big Forute 500 gets slammed by a nasty trojan or driveby install and they let loose the wrath of their legal team on Microsoft.
If Microsoft continues to give away, developer, developer, developer packages to virtually anyone then every Windows users can continue to expect this kind of activity.
Its wrong, it sucks but hey... ain't that America!?
Maybe someone should implement a useful color coded warning system that citizens can use as a simple guide to the level of threats they can expect on their computers... oh wait thats already been proven to be a HUGE waste of time! Damn it all anyway!
Ok enough with the clueless masses and XP "tards" comments.
I can not for the life of me figure out why its the consumers fault that their OS allows BY DEFAULT virtually any "developer, developer, developer" to dump, install bomb their system with just about anything and for some reason its their fault.
So if I have a house built for me and the builder gives all the other developers, developers, developers, the same keys and they in turn give those keys to other users and those users routinely enter my newly built house and break my televison, unplug my radio and turn the lights on and off... it MUST BE MY FAULT!
If Rob, Real, MS or even Apple want to create a truly excellent user experience then they should all let the user decide what file format, platform or whatever they want to use.
Wonder Bread doesn't force me to use their toasters and music, ditigal or otherwise should be the same.
Lets face it. The battle is ALL about locking in the user to your platform. It has NOTHING to do with building a better user experience.
Ultimately, music, especially digital music will be nothing but a commodity like pork and coffee and will continue to lose value as the existing monopolies struggle to lock users in.
But then again, I'm Canadian and I can copy my friends and neighbours music anytime I want! Even share it if I like!:-o
No matter what those poor Americans do to try and stifle VoIP its not going to work because any legislation will appear to have been put in place to secure the existing monopolies.
People will inevitably find offshore alternatives just like most of the big US corporations did! LOL!
That should bring the democracy treat level to Holy Shit - Pink or whatever it is...
I can't believe gamers are so desparate that they'd actually pay for a 7 day stress test! These theys people deserve to have the wallets stolen after you repeatedly smack them about the head.
To think that in the near future this is what online gaming will evolve into makes me want to take up knitting.
Pay to BETA, Pay for the Game, Pay to Play... what a useless fuckin' herd!
Boy I can hardly wait for the time when I'm crusing through DukeNukem ForeEver and as I'm smacking down aliens in the 22nd century MacDonalds will be loving it from the roof top of a near by building!
Sorry but I not going to be buying ANY games that are going to abUSE my hard paid for bandwidth to bitch slap me with more f*&#'n ads. Christ is this a stupid idea!
Its almost as lame as those ISPs who used the great music download scare to limit monthly bandwidth.
In front of the vault is not going to make a difference!

Dot Net...or NOT!

And it will also come with a handsome carry case and easy to store tripod.

I can not believe someone, especially in California, didn't point out to the Governator just how FUCKIN stupid this law really is!
canadians_can_share@iam.ca!
I won't say that "everyone" is going to rush out and buy a PS3...
With little or no game innovation in the near future I can't see the PS3 or XBox2 causing near the hype wave that their predecessors...
Lets see
19" LCD monitor $1000
20" LCD TV $1600
The look of the faces of the tards that don't know there is NO difference...PRICELESS!
Hey, maybe we need a colour coded scale which consumers can use as a quick reference guide to commercial terrorism.... ah forget it just invade!
You mean...
Our Passion. Their Profits!
Show'm the code...
Get'm to sign LONG-TERM usage agreements
Go back to Redmond and continue working on the real code!
Speaking of code... wouldn't it be a blast if one of those "worlds" governments propellerheads found proprietary code or IP in MS's code!
I hear the hounds a howl'n!

A social network driven by geographic areas for the specific purpose of driving advertising.
Great now the freaks can masturbate while socializing with their neighbour's avatar! fur sur!
Tards!
I agree...
The problem isn't how the content is delivered.
The problem is the quality of the content and the technologies that impair or hamper consumers use of the content!
HD-DVD, Blu-Ray... blah, blah, blah... seems to me the fight is over who will control the next gen technology!
