A lot of the media-related portions of code were not implemented in 2003, because, as you point out, it's a server OS. It's not meant to be used for multimedia (other than serving it up).
A quick check of most server rooms will show that most servers don't even have a sound card in them. Why would you install superfluous files?!!
Now, as per the GP -- if you're running a server OS on your desktop, then you deserve all the imcompatibilites that exist.
I remember back when people would run NT Server 4 on their desktops, and complain about not being able to run 16-bit apps, or old dos games. WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT? THAT'S NOT WHAT THE OS WAS MEANT FOR.
People have the common misconception that 2003 is based on XP, when most of the underliying tech is from 2000 SERVER.
DON'T EXPECT A SERVER OS TO BEHAVE LIKE A DESKTOP OS!
How could they feel lonely? 3's a crowd! They could play Hearts with a dummy hand, or compare GUIs.
Failing that, you should put a dunce cap on each, so at least they'll figure out their place (I'm not trolling, I'm just pointing out that they should recognise that they're in the corner for a reason).
Well, the picture is actually real, however the write-up that follows (a weight lifter has a prolapsed rectum while lifting) is what's false. It's on snopes, but I won't re-link again, since I linked it near the top of the thread.

I think you've missed the point of projects such as Firefox and Thunderbird.
Firefox is supposed to become the browser used in the Mozilla Suite (and will be rebranded "Mozilla Browser." Likewise with Thunderbird, Sunbird, and some other applications.
They have been recoded from scratch, to be better than Mozilla in every conceivable way. The interoperability won't exist, as the Mozilla Suite is being phased out to be replaced by the Mozilla Suite.
I agree. Throw in a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and it's the fucking dirtiest crazy shit ever.
"Where's the computer hiding?" people will ask, thinking you are using your OS X Voodoo. "Perhaps it burned up like your Cube?"
"HUZZAH!" You shout. "THE COMPUTER IS BUT UNDER THIS ATTROCIOUS BEVEL!"
Somewhere else in the thread shows internal pics. The components run up behind the screen, as well. At 1.9" thick for the 17" and 2.2" thick for the 20", this is impressive as hell. Though, it makes sense, I have a Thinkpad R51 here that's thicker. The only thing I've seen thinner was an LG tablet, but both of these have only 15" screens.
I've been putting off buying a Leatherman for some time now, waiting for a model with everything I want (released later in September, apparently), but the addition of a USB drive would be KEY, since the intended purpose of (me) using the Leatherman is to work on computers.
Seperate thoughts go into seperate paragraphs. If the paragraphs are undeveloped and short, then it gives the illusion that each though receives its own line.
Haikus convey a single though across 3 lines. Plus, the GP doesn't follow the required 5-7-5 syllable pattern of the haiku format.
GTA3 and GTA:VC have billboards, posters, radio spots, etc.
They are all for fictional companies and such. They even went as far as creating the domain names advertised (For example, http://www.petsovernight.com/)
Yes, I am.
The interfaces are purposely similar. Do not let this fool you into thinking their inner workings are also similar.
Don't worry! Port-a-Nuke is here!
Of course it can. A price range can be slow, a processing power can be sfast, and the distance can be measured in smetres.

I thought the wheelbarrow was to carry away all the manure found in most interviews.

Just reindex at 9 in the moring, when you've stopped computing for the night.

This is what Microsoft did with early versions of MSN Messenger.
They used AOL's network.
This resulted in AOL explicitly blocking them from using it. And Microsoft went and deployed their own servers and whatnot.
I think that's where the computer goes.
YES! MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!

The hammer is BOFH-approved. All PFY are recommended on using one.
W&R is a solid book. As is all of Pinker's work.
Is that not a required attribute of the ninja?
Yes, I am a ninja who kills people who think they are smart.

Face litigation? In the non-existent federal court system?
Unless the job is lesbian porn. I don't wany any tranny surprises.
Pinker was born in Montreal, and got his BA (BS? Whatever, it's in Psych) at McGill.
Who cares? I'm out to make a run of "my k1d 0wns y0ur k1d'5 c0mput3r" bumper stickers!

PuTTY is pretty solid, and I believe it handles ANSI.
It's primarily Win32 software, but there is a UNIX source. Might work in OS X, though there is an OS X port on the way (according to the FAQ)
