Because obviously Microsoft is paying them to publish games no one will buy so that Windows will be confirmed as the PC gaming system. How can you be so blind?;)
on a 1.3Ghz and an 800Mhz Athlon. Very neat stuff. I needed to recompile ALSA, so I used that as a test. With clustering disabled the build time was 2min and 51 sec. With clustering enabled it took 1min and 51.
The only thing I didn't like was having to rollback to a 2.4.19 kernel, because I've been using 2.4.20 and its stable, but I guess there'll be a new version eventually.

1) The tech can and does speak for itself. As more IT managers learn the benefits of Linux (from their colleagues, not from some $4000 marketing drone) Linux will become more widespread.
2) Yes, lets ditch Tux. He's so stupid. And dumb. I hate Tux. I really like the Windows logo, its much more personable. Hurray for wavy sheets of glass. Hurray for blandness!
3) Without them there would be no GNU/FSF/Linux. Bill Gates originally a "technician" too.
4) This is a proprietary technology. While Wine and Transgaming have made major improvements, we don't need DirectX, we need a replacement that blows DirectX away. And XML support in the kernel? The best troll ever indeed.
5) We have focus groups. They're called Usenet, web forums, mailing lists, and IRC.
You can use LeechFTP for FTP resuming. I think it supports HTTP downloads too.
There are *lots* of free zip utilities. (Personally I think WinRAR is much better and worth the money).
For an alternative to RealPlayer...hmmm. You got me there:)
WindowBlinds makes it clear that it is a demo, so complaints about it expiring are just lame. The LiteStep devs are working on skinning, and I think I saw a WindowBlinds FX clone recently (try Shell Extension city).
Its possible to find lots of freeware for Windows, you just have to look harder. Look at GNUWin II for some open source apps.
And make sure to download Ad-Aware to hunt down those evil spy programs.
I tried it out quickly. Is there a way to set up keyboard shortcuts? Like in KDE I have Winkey+R = run, Winkey+D=console (from my litestep days when D meant DOS box).
"There really should be interface schemas that can switch on-the-fly to whatever sort of task you are engaged in."
Great idea. I remember that Ray Dream Studio 5 had "workspaces." You could arrange the windows just so and save different layouts (like one for modelling, one for animating, etc). It was a useful feature and it'd be nice to be able to do that everywhere.
Though with KDE I usually have a virtual desktop for each task (graphics, coding, browsing).
I've seen Trigun, and I don't think there's much objectionable content to begin with, so it'll probably be okay.

Is there a Linux port of Daikatana?
Romulan: Hissssss
Picard: Now A'm gonna get right in there with'em. Ah she's a beauty, look at the coloration.
*Romulan lunges*
Picard: CRIKEY she's mad. Calm down there, there's a good girl.
Well, I'd pay to see it...
I can't find any patches or full packages to download in the pub/qt/source folder. the last file is qt-x11-free-3.1.0.tar.bz2

As I said as AC: Best. Troll. Ever.
Saw it on the gentoo forums, which in was linked to from a newsgroup.

This is probably waaay to late to get read, but check out www.minion.de/nvidia.html for some info and patches that might help fix the bug.
and that Hurd users prefer Hurd over microsoft, large hard disks, applications, women, and sex.
Also, check out Penny Arcade for their view of how TabletPCs make sketching the comic easier.
Not just the OS X dock either. Look at replacement shells like LiteStep for a lot of sidebar ideas.
A virus to uncap cable modems? Shit, I hope there's a version for Linux :)
Today? EB and KBToys had it in yesterday.
Oh, I took it to mean we'd be able to deep fry them.
The CTRL+C = color wheel has been changed in recent versions; now its CTRL+C = copy, the way it should've been.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but isn't Cartoon Network starting a channel called Boomerang that shows all the old classics?
You're posting on slashdot so I don't think you'll have to worry about having meaningless sex ;)
" De-brand the desktop to make for a more useful system."
Exactly hoe does that make anything more useful?
Suprised it takes even that. XMMS decodes Oggs at 0.9% on a Athlon 1.33 Tbird
Error: personal_gripe not found
Although if you start it with the -i option you can specify a file on the command-line
MrSID -i filename.sid
Yes, I'm having the same issue. I guess that's not very helpful though :)
