I'm not putting them down. I'm saying that it is not the news slashdot says it is. And I've contributed plenty in the past (to open source) and continue to do so, so go away.
This game is dynamically linked to DirectX, which is a large program library. 3D Winamp visualizations are also small, because they don't have much rendering code in them either, but they're also not optimized very well (like a *real* engine such as Quake 3 or UT2004). Just because *your* "hello, world" is statically linked to the C++ library and mine isn't, doesn't make mine better because it's smaller.
And procedural textures? The demo scene guys have been doing this for ages.
If you build packages from source, there's often an option you can give the configure script to change where the program stores its system and per-user settings.
Try./configure --help next time and see if what's available.
This is just a guess (I'm not a game developer) but most Linux game ports do NOT work on Linux, they work on x86 Linux. I guess it's much easier to port a game to a different OS on the same architecture than to a different OS on a completely different arch.
It's a pre-alpha software, so there's no tutorials or documentation written yet. So saying that you need a background in Prothon's parent language isn't such an unreasonable requirement.

I agree with your arc comments, but... 1) The line drawing is nicer in photoshop because it gives you a better visual IMO. 2) The circle selection/stroking method works well in Gimp 1.3/2.0, but it didn't seem to give you very good quality on =1.2
...but the flipping-through-your-cd-album is a bad idea. One of the nice things about computers is their ability to display lots of information, like a list of albums, on screen at once. This seems to be a much slower way of navigating your record collection.
Actually, even virtual machines are exploitable. There was a really interesting article in Dr. Dobb's about utilizing flaws in the JVM to break out of Java's sandbox.
Or perhaps he considers C "functional" in that the basis for blocks of code is a function, as opposed to Java's basic block the class. Better words are procedural (as you say) or maybe function-oriented:)
Yes, what on earth is that problem supposed to say? In the first post I realized that some people who are new to Java don't know that you can't store primitives in collections. But with the longer explanation I'm thoroughly confused.
I understand what the grandparent post means. My company does a lot of data analysis, and the tools are just not available in Office (Open* or MS*). We deal with lots of electrical data (currents, voltages, conductance, etc.), and so I've had to write various plugins & plugins to make the work go quickly.
I guess having a crazy high-res version will help when they scale it down for DVD/VHS/Broadcast.

This has left me underwhelmed.
For what it's worth, it runs quite well under WineX.
But that isn't a solution, it's a workaround for shitty software! In Linux I don't have to su to run UT2004 or Half-Life.
And so how is that secure?

*BANG* Let me back in you assholes! This isn't funny!
Agreed. If Windows ran on PPC I'm sure there'd be games for it.

I hate to be a spelling nazi, but you misspelled pwned.

But if it is *my* car, why am I not allowed to know all the specs?

The web site is called phone LOSERS, and you couldn't even spell the text of your link! Saints preserve us!
No, only less of a man.
Can you elaborate more on object vs document? I've always thought of my documents as objects when I code.
This is a very, very misleadingly titled article. Shame on you editors!
