VLC player plays everything. You have no right to whine about not having codecs unless you have VLC (aka VideoLan) installed and still have problems.
Many obscure things are only released in certain formats that you don't get to choose. At least I can still play them. People with standalone-dvd-players, for example, could not play a RM file (shudder) (I use RealAlternative, of course.)
ATI has superior TV-out than all other cards. I've seen other people's TV out, and it looks like crap. I am on my 6th or so ATI card, and have been doing TV-out for 11 years now. Nothing else matches the quality. Yea, I have hauppage in there too. And an FM transmitter. No PCI slot unused:)
1) And we are just hearing about it now. They were not there to the extent that they presented any threat whatsoever to Americans on American soil.
2) We don't go to war for cheap oil. We go to war to get the oil so that we can sell it at an expensive price. That way, you get to pay twice. It's not about making things cheaper for everybody. It's about killing for energy, plain and simple.
First off, most people would lack the resources to sue. Second off, if state law says they can detain you a certain amount of time without arrest -- which many do, they did nothing illegal that they can be sued for. Third off, even if they did broke the law and were sued, the establishment likely would not side against a cop, for an arrestee. Remember, most of Rodney King's perpetrators got away with it, and almost every unjustified police shooting gets away with it too. 3 days in jail is chump change compared to such grand events. Wake up, please.
How would you like it if crime X had a punishment that said you were no longer allowed to express your opinion in public? Or, if Crime Y had a punishment that said you no longer had 4th amendment rights, and could be searched any time? Or, if Crime Z had a punishment that said you are no longer allowed to practice your religion?
All of these punishments are unconstitutional. Taking away someone's gun rights is NO different. The only reason it's even legal (which, truly, it is not) is because tyrants agree: Gun control works. Just ask Hitler, Mussolini, or Mao Tse Tsung.
EvilLyrics is the best program EVER!! (quicker download link: HERE)
Automatically search for lyrics of the song currently playing in Winamp, and display them in a tiny window. You can also store lyrics for offline viewing. This version supports Windows Media Player, Foobar2000, Sonique, iTunes, Winamp, and RealPlayer.
Not only that, but you can display the lyrics with timing -- they are hilighted as they are sung. They can also be sent to MilkDrop as they are sung. About 45,000 "karaoke" files have been created. Creating one is as simple as listening to the song once, and hilighting the lyrics yourself using the down-arrow key. Then they are uploaded and anyone else listening to that song can benefit.
I donated $50 to the author of the program, and more development is really needed. Development has been slow this past year.
His program does not actually store any lyrics; it just searches 50+ search engines for the lyrics, and frequently gets them right in 1 or 2 tries.
No single program has ever enhanced my music-listening experience more. Having a hard time understanding lyrics, I am suddenly finding the true meanings of many songs I have been listening to for 15 years or more. It is like a musical re-awakening...Suddenly being able to know every word of every The Misfits song is really sweet.
Obviously some annoying conspiracies have caused you to close your mind to distinct possibilities. Go revisit the 911 situation again. Do the research yorurself. See what's out there. It has way more validity than holocaust denial. Way more.
Well, that certainly adds fuel of truth to your argument. However, I very much doubt that the individual who pirated your CAD program to tinker with it was ever seriously going to buy it. If he downloaded 10,000 programs, was he seriously going to buy all of them too? (Yes, that's a slippery slope, sorry, but I think the point holds to an extent.) Most people I know.. Scratch that -- EVERY person I have ever met in my personal life -- would not be willing to pay $3,000 for ANY piece of software... There is morality, and there is truth. Unfortunately neither are of any help in the real world:)
Simply observe the chat above. I tried to make it abundantly clear that I could use 100% of my bandwidth 100% of the time. Within 6 months, after repeated harassment, they gave me an ultimatum: Use less than 100G per month, or be terminated.
Ultimately I was terminated. A few months later, I finally got $50 back; originally they were trying to charge me the $300 cancellation fee even though it was they who cancelled me, not the other way around.
In talking with thier esclation director, he admitted that I was having zero impact on network performance.
And, they say "no bots". And they consider bittorrent a fucking bot, if you'll believe that.
This was AFTER I installed a scheduler that basically only downloaded at 10% capacity during business hours. That wasn't good enough.
Buyer beware. SpeakEasy is nothing but another faceless corporation in my eyes. I've returned to the land of Mom-and-Pop ISPs. Silcon.com doesn't have great performance, but they leave me alone.
Try SeaGate... I left WD in the dust when they lowered their warrantees from 3 yr to 1 yr. That shows that they have no confidence in their own products. Seagate, meanwhile, upped their warrantees to 5 years!
The ending of A.I. was awesome.

I feel sorry for the rest of humanity who disagrees.
So to all the people who complained about Ren & Stimpy Adult Cartoon Party "not being like the original Ren & Stimpy": YOU'RE WRONG.
Adult Cartoon Party is far closer to the original than Nickelodeon's watered-down versoins. In fact, many of the episodes for SpikeTV's Ren & Stimpy Adult Cartoon Party were actually Nickelodeon episodes that got censored out of existence!
Ren & Stimpy Adult Cartoon Party is the true realization of the artists original vision for Ren & Stimpy. That SpikeTV only produced 6-8 episodes IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.
Remember, in the pre-pilot, they fuck a baby's head. It was never supposed to be a pleasant show.
So, a user COULD in fact choose to subscribe to RSS feeds only for certain subjects that I talk about (cartoons, politics, journal, etc).
Ideally, I would like the categories to be presented as checkboxes, where each user can cookie himself a customized view, showing only the categories (s)he is interested in....
I kinda thought I clarified that a bit. The system failed. The only action left to take was action outside of the system. A riot is about the only thing that gets noticed. Violence against humans i wrong. Unfortunately there are people who milk every opportunity for their own greed, even a greed to commit violence. However, a public uprising of some sort was definitely justified. What were they supposed to do, get togther and write a group letter to their congressman? Hold hands and sing? (That didn't work in the 60s, and that's part of why we are where we are today). If ever there is a time to riot, it is when the government itself declares the police innocent when they are not. There is no law when the law itself is above the law; it's just thuggery on a grander scale.
Unfortunately, when this happens, a lot of property will get damaged. That is the point. One can hope that this would at least cause the insurance companies to put pressure on the government, but who are we kidding? The insurance companies probably already lobbied the govt to make sure their policies don't have to legally cover riot damage.:) That sucks.
Technology is an efficient enabler, but an even more efficient oppressor.
Think about Rodney King? The man had unnecessary force used against him in an extremely obvious way. Of course, all the officers involved still basically got away with it, and the L.A. Riots were completely justified. (Specific incidents that happened within the riots, such as racial violence, were not.)
But think about police abuse, and the abuse of the state in general. Think about Tiannamen Square in China. Think about Guantanimo, and especially think about Abu Ghraib.
Do you think we would even know about such abuses, if CameraBusting technology was ubiquitous? Hell no. Just like most of China's citizens do not know about Tiannamen square, most Americans would not know about Rodney King. Nobody would know about Abu Ghraib. (Which I admit I can't spell.)
Technology is good. The advent of digital cameras, camera phones, camcorders, and all that jazz are a check in balance, by the people, against their oppressive government. We are living in a rare time in which we have tools that can actually be used to "fight the power", so to speak.
It wont be long before this rare opportunity is over. Once they perfect this type of technology, good luck capturing abuse. Good luck knowing what is really happening.
Imagine the police being able to beat anyone in broad daylight, knowing that it would be impossible to be filmed. Far-fetched? I seriously doubt it. Technology is moving at what seems like an exponential rate, and I fear things are only going to get worse.
Were the Cyberpunk visionaries really that far off?
I've had 6 DSL ISPs in 7 years. The prices only go up. Yea, I can get cheap verizon dsl or cox cable, and have random ports blocked, or not be allowed servers. The fact of the matter is, low prices are only for the bottom feeders. I live inside the d.c. beltway, arguably one of the most internet-connected places on the planet, as we live near the heart of the internet, Reston, VA. My first DSL was only $60/month in 2000. They went bellyup, transferred me to EarthLink (worst ever), then I went to patriot, which was $75/mo or so for 768/768. I wanted more so I went to LighteningBolt, got completely screwed over by the asshole Brent who works there (probably have something on my credit rating now, for refusing to pay for a "broken" modem, which I said I would pay for if they sent it back to me, which they refused to. If I buy something, it's mine and I get to possess it, end of story). So finally I went to speakeasy (by this point, $85/mo), and they reneged on their "unlimited access" flat out giving me an ultimatum: "DOwnload 100G a month max, or we will terminate you", which they did.
Now I'm on Silcon, and their bridge device sucks, PPPOE is slow, but I can still get 290K/s. I just can't surf comfortably, even if I throttle my downloads down to 190K/s. Certain sites are arbitrarily slow. SpeakEasy definitely had a better network; I just wasn't allowed to fully utilize it.
The Sex Pistols fucking rule. As do The Misfits (original only), Descendents, Minor Threat, and a shload of other bands out there. Punk is far from dead.

When you get a real computer that can handle what 95% of the machines out there can.
I didn't want to get that plain and simple, but yes. Same thing. :)

Are you going to write to your local swimming pool, complaining that she can't swim there?
