"I have a lot of down time." Makes me think you did it on your employers time which you've already been paid for. If anything, I would either ask to retain the copyright or the right to release it open source.
A few questions I have. Do you really print that often? At home, I rarely have a need to print. I probably wouldn't print much at work if I had a tablet.
Do you have a desktop? If so, I would just install dropbox or look at a printer that supports it.
To those saying he should just get another laptop, mine rarely leaves my docking station at work. A tablet wont replace your computer, but it could replace a laptop if you have a desktop as well.
my HTC EVO 4G supports this, have to pay Sprint an extra $30 a month to use it which I don't. I went the root and install wifi tether option which is what I suggest.
So why are we posting ads written as articles on Slashdot? I fail to see how this is news for Nerds. It really has nothing to do with the normal topics of slashdot as well as being an ad.
Plus, if your not doing shopping or authentication, or the authentication isn't really a huge deal such as posting a comment (Where's HTTPS on Slashdot!), why spend the money on the cert, time setting it up, and the extra hardware requirements.
That being said, HTTPS should probably be used for all passwords because users may use the same password on a blog as they do for online banking.
Dell's markup is huge, but the time and effort you'll be putting in will justify the cost along with failure rates. I would just look for a cheaper vendor. Also, you may not be able to legally go the route your looking at. Many government entities have to put out RFPs before making large purchases.
I'm a bit older and I always remember having an account mostly to track how much to charge my parents. The school district I work for passes out cards right before lunch with a barcode to scan to track payment. I suspect that this system has little to do with watching or more to do with money. Tracking food is probably the BS that the school district gave to the government to get them to shell out the cash for a new system.
Most places don't install cameras to prevent bad behavior or even to catch it in the act. The real point of most video surveillance is to tell that bimbo that said he/she fell in isle 3 he/she is full of it. I work at a place with about 200 cameras in about 15 buildings. No one actively watches them, we just get request for video of a location at certain time and burn it to a CD.
Bluetooth range can go up to 100 meters depending on the class of the transmitter. Class 1 ~100m, Class 2 ~10m, class 3 ~1m. A class 2 the recording device could be hidden in the trunk of the abandoned car at the place next door. Class 1 could be down the street.
Don't even have to do the root certificate. If the filter solution is set inline, it can intercept it just fine. really, no point in blocking or filter search results anyway, search results don't pose much of a risk, the user has to click on a link at some point that is either going to be filter or not filtered. Personally, I just plug my EVO into my computer at work (a school).
We use something called Visions. It works, but I suggest putting the computers in a public area and actually watching them. Nothing you can do will completely restrict use. Even with our filtering, we walk into some rooms and every kid is on either facebook or youtube (both of which are blocked).
A big reason there's no free market with ISPs is because of government regulation. If I wanted to start my own ISP and had the money to do it, I would have to go through the trouble of getting franchise agreements with every town I want to customers in.
I went to a local vocational school and did some unpaid internships. These where part of the class time and only lasted one or two days at a time. If your working for more then a few weeks or not through a school of some sort, then yea, that should be paid.
Putting aside the liberties and constitution protections this would stomp on, how many cases actually have DNA evidence left? All I see this doing is making criminals work harder to not to leave DNA.
Your examples aren't the same as what happened here. It's not that MetaLab's product influenced the design elements in Mozzila's Jetpack, It's the fact that the gui elements are exactly the same. None of your examples are exactly the same and some of them have even gone back the other direction with open source software inspiring closed source software. Too be fair to Mozzila though, it was just a mock-up which is aimed at getting the point across.
Why should the government impose in the foods I CHOOSE to eat? As long as its not toxic or contaminated, I should have the choice to plug my arteries if I want to. Stating that this is a New York Bill in the summery would have been nice as well.
Why would any other Linux distributer want to purchase Novell after the deal they made with microsoft? That would make them part of that agreement as well.
You get what you pay for. Cheap camera means blurry picture that you can't see past 10 feet.

odd, my wimax works fine. I actually even have clear for my home connection. I get about 8 m down. Only issue is latency issues.

I could be wrong, but I didn't think unpaid interns where legal except in a very few limited cases. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/campus-overload/2010/04/is_your_unpaid_internship_lega.html

In Kansas City, MO it has a video as well.

They really know how to spend OUR money.
Maybe they are taking the kids trap shooting?

We revoke network access where I work if your suspended. This guy was being fired and they let him continue to work?
