the big question is: will MSN continue non-metered access for DSL. I transfered nearly 1GB today... not unusual for us webdevs.
I've never used my Qwest pop account or webspace. if MSFT maintains the fairly good uptime then it will be a difficult choice on whether to switch or stay.
expounding on "classroom", how about a public library?
I am still amazed when some fuck gets/makes a call in the library and talks at full room volume. dirty looks don't work. sometimes flipping the bird gets the point across, but I usually have to throw books and shout, which just annoys other people trying to study. a portable jammer would be a great tool to have in this situation. I'm certainly not going to go whine to the impotent librarians.:)
crying babies and coughing homeless people are all that library patrons should need to tolerate.
Amen re: TomsHardware. I stopped visiting that site, and I let Tom know about it via an email. Then I found WebWasher, which blocks ads, popups, cookies, webbugs, javascript, etc. Very cool app and I can visit any site without a worry.
Napster said it believed subscription revenues would easily cover that amount. The company said that its basic subscription service would cost between $2.95 and $4.95 a month that would allow a limited number of transfers. Premium service, which lets people download all they want, would cost between $5.95 and $9.95. Extras, such as the permission to burn songs to a CD or transfer them to another format, would require additional fees, which have not yet been set.
sometimes I think DivX was a plot hatched by the MPAA to distract geeks while they sneaked "Open" DVD past us. now that DVD is an established format, with even first-tier geeks like Taco promoting it despite all his articles about the evil DMCA and company, bullshit like hard drive encryption will go down so much smoother.
JetFire/SkyFire is the greatest toy of all time. High quality metal/plastic, killer looks, good transform, the works. I traded JetFire for the Constructicons and I regret it to this day.
There was a cheezy TV movie made about 15 years ago called "The Wave" or something similar. I watched this in JR High english so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But, the Wave was basically a mind control system started by a teacher who infected his class, and they in turn spread it to the rest of the school and the community. They had hand salutes, meetings, and other mysterious symbologies. In the end, it turns out the teacher was playing a devils advocate-ha-look-what-you've-become role.
Just ironic that this SS-esque organiztion is also called The Wave.;p
What about a BOOK, for crying out loud, that depicts any of these things (including fictional sex acts involving fictional children)? Lolita
...or "Songmaster" by Orson Scott Card, which also depicts pedophilia. Sick to be sure, but I didn't need an anti-kiddie porn law when I threw the book back at the library in the 9th grade. Better to have these GGWK types jacking off in front of their monitor instead of sitting at a playground bench.
I find Communism appealing towards the end of a Civ2 game, when I go on tank/howitzer rushing blitzes. keep the people happy while cranking out the armor!
