Americans are a puritan bunch... and the puritans did approve of killing people (remember, they burned witches for entertainment value)... just not of sex.
no no no... non-Americans are just slutty cowards.
Only the cynic is the "true" American and patriot.
Amen! I was watching the call-in portion of CSPAN, and a lady caller literally said "We shouldn't be questioning the president now, we should be standing behind him." I couldn't beleive what I was hearing. this is exactly the time when we SHOULD be questioning the actions of our leaders. remember the Bill of Rights, the most important document in the last 400 years, a document way more important than the Declaration and the rest of Constitution itself? it was put in there by sceptics of the government!
sadly our media is driven by popularity, and since dissenting opinions are not popular they are not heard. dead afgans are not a popular image, so we better not show that. wake up people!
or, perhaps the conspiracy runs deeper. what better way for timmy to discredit an up-and-coming competitor, in this case slant-six, by revealing a clearly bogus story posted on said competitor's site.
slant-six looks stupid, slashdot looks trolled. the majority of us who have just heard about slant-six for the first time are left with a negative impression of slant-six. but since slashdot is trolled regularly, nobody is suprised with the "editor's gaffe". so no harm done to timmy and company!
Blair's support is a combination of 1) genuine righteousness 2) to put their own IRA terrorist problems to the front, but mostly 3) payback for convincing the reluctant Clinton administration to bomb Yugoslavia.
c'mon everyone!! even if this bill doesn't pass, we may still be screwed. the content and hardware companies are coming together (slowly but surely) so it won't matter if "copying" is legislated away or not -- it will be built into every computer component by IBM, Creative, Toshiba, Sony, etc. it's already started with DVD-ROM, "secure" soundcards, HDTV. what software is running the system is IRRELEVANT if it can't do anything with the underlying "secure" hardware.
I certainly didn't get any calls or helpful advice from Qwest.
after puzzling over my dead connection, I tried the old reliable on-off-on trick. sure enough, I was online again. the first fix for the CodeRed attack I found here on slashdot! no help on Qwest's site, of course.
Qwest's DSL tech support is in fact worthless. if your connection goes down, and if you can sit on hold for 20 minutes, and if you can take the insult of your intelligence (is the modem plugged in? did you try a reboot?), they never give you an answer on why your DSL is down or when its coming back up. "everything looks ok on our end! it must be you!" swell, thanks. sometimes they even promise to "get right on it" if someone else in your area calls in with the same problem. to be fair their service is alright, just don't expect help when Things Go Wrong.
one of Qwest's talking heads was just on the news, explaining nobody will get a refund because it was "an external attack" and "the modem isn't our hardware". lol
if you're putting DEFINITELY in all-caps you really should spell the word correctly. this error is made countless times here on/. by otherwise reasonable sounding people (1).
definitely. as in de-finite.

hell, it's in the USA Decleration of Independence!
"...That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it..."
thanks for the tip... my Cisco675 is set with web/telnet disabled and I was wondering why this worm was affecting me:)
could you post a link to the Qwest image of the latest firmware? why this isn't even a priority to them is beyond me. getting the 2.2 image from them was like pulling teeth...
...is also causing Cisco 67x DSL routers, widely deployed by Qwest, using firmware prior to 2.4.1, as well as some others, such as 3Com LanModems, to crash -- recoverable only by a power cycle.
I can confirm this... I'm a Qwest user with the Cisco675 router/ADSL modem with 2.2 firmware. My connection has dropped 3x today already, requiring a simple power off-on to re-establish the connection.
I haven't been surfing heavily today but there is a noticable slowdown from time to time.
why are YOU so threatened by others being threatened? the guy's comment was just stupid. he said "The reference board has only two PCI slots and no onboard Ethernet. Ouch. I'll stick with my Mac for now." he's judging a reference board... anyone in the DIY scene knows that reference boards come like this, microATX style. nForce boards will be available in the fall. and there IS onboard Ethernet in the nForce.
the "stick with my Mac for now" comment just makes him a big target for catcalls. sure pal, go ahead and stick with your "supercomputer". he's the instigator.
as far as mainboards with no legacy ports, I'm not aware of any. but you could disable them in BIOS to free your IRQs if that's what your worried about.
"stick with my mac" means he is terrified of the DIY PC market. too many options, too many mouse buttons, too many apps, too many OSs to deal with. although the fact that he knows about mainboards is a rarity for a Mac person.
totally. I used to work phone customer service, and calls like this guy just went in one ear and out the other. you say things like "yessir, I understand... blah blah" then when they hang up you just say "loser".
unless you demand to talk to a supervisor, then ask for THEIR boss, you're comments go nowhere and your time is wasted.

looks like Escape Velocity: Nova is also available on Windows. no details, just a link to the exe installer.
the first Escape Velocity was a memorable game.
If you're a Firefly fan, you should check out this guy's website. He just finished 2 DVDs of commentary on the show for his Masters degree project.
Corp rock was the 70s and 80s. We are now well into the HIP-HOP-IN-A-CAN era.
