The above reminds me of the following scene in a canadian cartoon I saw many years ago.
MIKEY: Hello boys and girls, it's time for uncle Mikey's cartoon show. ZIP: Hello Uncle Mikey! MIKEY: Can you tell the difference between good and evil? SCENE: A green man lights a cannon, aimed at a cow eating flowers. MIKEY: Is this man being good to Cassie... GREEN: Say cheese.... hoohahahahahah! MIKEY:...or evil? (Cannon fires, Cassie is blackened, and the tail falls off) ZIP: uh... SCENE: Green enters, gives Cassie a flower, and pets her nose. MIKEY: Good... ZIP: (kisses his Uncle Mikey doll) SCENE: Green chases Cassie with a huge axe MIKEY:...or evil? ZIP: Hey boss, um, can you tell the difference between good and evil? MOK: (snorts something from his ring) Ziiiiiiip, try to realize, there is no longer black or white, good or evil. We've evolved beyond that. ZIP: Uh, but Uncle Mikey says we should know the difference between-- MOK: We all must have our own personal view of right and wrong. ZIP: but but but is what we are doing evil? MOK: Of course not! Remember Zip, 'evil' spelled backwards is 'live.' And we all want to do that. ZIP: yeah yeah yeah, but but Uncle Mikey says that -- MIKEY: So until next week, boys and girls, goodbye, and be good! ZIP: Goodbye Uncle Mikey. MOK: Zip, (takes Zip's Uncle Mikey doll) Zip, Zip, there is no Santa Claus, no Tooth Fairy, and No Uncle Mikey! (flings the doll off the catwalk) ZIP: (big tears and snurfles.)
As a white guy, I often take pictures of things like dams, so does my wife (who is black). It's a shame people who are not white seem to be hassled by ignorant rednecks (I spent 9 years in the hills of W.VA. so I can cast that particular stone) who are full of paranoia for anyone who isnt the same as them. That was not directed at the writer of this posts grandparent. We like dams because they are all over the US, have some keen geography around them most of the time, often attract a lot of differnt birds, and last some decent amounts of water, all those thigs are fantastic subjects for photography.
For an example of how the random life errors can screw up your social security related stuff; Back when I was a student in the early 90's my parents helped secure supplemental student loans for me. The feds a few years later somehow decidede I was married to my mother and cross linked our social security information. This wasnt noticed till a few more years later, when the IRS started giveing my mother a hard time. We found the problem and it took 6 months to correct. I should point out, I was living in another state and married (to someone other then my mother) at the time they screwed up her social security records.
It's wasy easy IMO to stand up now and boast about how stable Win2k is. I wont disagree with you there. But up till 2K What were you guys running on? I have had some serious issues with base NT4 over the years, most versions of Windows were not designed to handle multi users, and the multi user ones seem to not be great at handling hundreds of users. The stability of Windows depends greatly it seems on what you do with it. If no one ever uses it and it just sits there from 98SE on was rock solid. Yes I agree that NOW Win2k has made those problems less/go away, but as Windows releases goes so far 2K has been the exception not the rule. Win2k introduced some nice storage featres, but they are years behind other systems in that area.
Mighty Joe young as others have mentioned was an older movie recently re-made by the mouse. You Left out Congo (I think it counts as an ape movie) and by some extent one could argue both era Planet of the Apes films (the older series of movies/tv show and the re-make) might as well qualify.
The trick to seeing GOTF and not wanting to kill yourself afterwards is to watch it the way it was shown in Japanese theaters. It was shown as the first half of a double feature followed by My Neighbor Totoro. If ya aint go no Totoro then any upbeat/sweet film should work. (but it needs to be strong).
Vampire$ seemed to me to be an excuse for 90 min of woman beating (I just dont get off on that). That really stopped my wife and I from enjoying an otherwise entertaining vampire flick.
I'm missing the connection between Warhammer minitures and Anime. Maybe it's because I dont do a lot of miniture wargaming, you seem to know a lot about it, can you enlighten?
Where do you live that news stands sell this kind of stuff?
If you have ever seen obcessive firearm nerds (who can be ethnicaly Japanese or not) they are just as bad as the Warhammer types you mention above.
As for Maddox, LOLROF. Seen his stuff before. He clearly is turned on my male breasts (note how much attention he pays to them). Rumor has it he named himself after an obscure Japanese cartoon in the hopes it would get him Leader status, why else would he be waiting in line to see Spirited Away. I think Maddox dosent try hard enough on his website, sure he had the whole "provocative headline and text thing down" but a little more follow through and he can be "Uber 1337". Maybe he can become a/. editor. Someone has to generate massive flamewars now that Katz is no longer published here.
Gord: Silly camper everyone knows that the AWP has horrible accuracy when not crouching. (Gord looks up and sees certain doom) Gord: Oh, I've wasted my life.
Note the above is humor, and not any indication I wish ill upon the person who writes the Acts of Gord.
Having worked at Lackluster for a few years.... No the tapes they get are exactly the same as the ones that end up retail. All we do is unbox the movies, put them in the plastic rental cases with the printed slip covers. Then when they get sold as "previously viewed" we re-box them in the retail packaging.
Any chance it might make it's way to PC or some other consile? Some of us do now own Xbox and probably will not for a long time. It's hard to support a lot of consoles.
"Still, most movies it's just way better to listen to the original actors/voices. I shall never forget the horror when I tried listening to the english dubbed "Run Lola Run" after having watched the whole thing in German beforehand..."
I feel your pain. Thats 5 min of my soul I can never get back.
What about all the people living under tyrants set up by the US?

I can just see the short film at Machinma now.
D.N.F. says to me "Did Not Finish"
Sadly it works on so many levels.
So it would be a work of science fiction instead of a history book?
Mighty Joe young as others have mentioned was an older movie recently re-made by the mouse.

I find the Daily Show to be funny and have better actual news content then most major networks.
from a great guy (Mike Jittlov) comes a great film, that isnt afraid to be chock full of positive subliminal messages.

Many/most anime we get here in NA are aimed at kids and teenagers.
Few companies I think are willing to take a risk on boring salaryman/sports stuff.
Sadly Dragon Half was not popular in Japan (as anime). The Manga did quite well.
You guys forgot to mention one of the better non kiddy canadian projects back from the 80's. It was called "Rock and Rule".
I'm missing the connection between Warhammer minitures and Anime. Maybe it's because I dont do a lot of miniture wargaming, you seem to know a lot about it, can you enlighten?

I happen to have a copy of this on my shelf here, it seems to be Vol. 1
Did he write an entire series, or just the first part?
MD3 is also available on the PSX
Wizardry 8 just came out inthe last 2 years.

I thought "The Emperors New Groove" was a great film fom them as well.

One other aspect of Excel Saga is it also makes nearly as much referance to american film and tv as it does to Japanese culture.
