If it is metabolized the same way, why does it cause a completely different response in my wife then the same food with cane sugar? We have tested this many times, and if we are going to have a sweetened product that has carbs, HFCS spikes her much worse and it stays high longer then cane sugar.

While I am no doctor, this might shed some light on things.

  3. Re:could someone do back-of-envelope calculation on Growing Insulin · · Score: 1

My wife has no official health condition, but if she ingests aspartame regularly, for some reason her blood sugar jacks up and stays high and her vision starts to blur. If she uses sachrin (she hates the taste) or sucralose (seems to not be bothered by it) then everything seems to behave normally.

HFCS seems to be worse on her sugar levels then cane sugar, and it's way fun to try to avoid that.

I think it comes down to everyone being different and different things affecting us in different ways.

In the first System Shock game after about 1/3 of the way in I started talking back to Shodan. That "AI" was given enough attitude and the plot gets to you enough it becomes personal.

So I play System Shock 2, I was expecting Shodan at first, but then they made it obvious that The Many were my adversary. That was until I got up to the office of my mysterious helper. When I found the body in the chair, the door shut and the walls turned into view screens showing Shodan, I instinctively fired at them. There was no reason for it other then the first games affect and how well the second game sprung that on you.

I'm disappointed there will not be a system shock 3 because I want another chance to "challenge a perfect immortal machine" as she calls herself in taunts.

Ok. So for someone to claim to be following an old religion and not some new fangled thing, they need to worship in the old ways. Then there are currently few if any Christians who can seriously claim to be anything but a fairly new fad religion as well. Or am I not getting your viewpoint?

My use of "pagan" in relation to non Christian religions is because of how Christians around me have used it. They have always, in my experience, used it to mean "any religion not following Christ". Since the discussion and original topic uses somewhat vague terms is it any wonder we are having such a discussion over the meaning of words.

For a really mind bending example of how grey a domain we are wandering into, look at Hare Krishnas. They are a fairly new organized religion, but worship as scripture claiming to be thousands of years old describes. Are they new and not worth any consideration or old and worth taking seriously? Where does this put the way Christian sects have evolved?

Am I reading to much into your original post?
