The trick to re-doing "Who's on First" and not being lame is hard to pul off. I think the Animaniacs did it with the Slappy Squirl and Woodstock concert version. There are IMO a few other examples, but I cant think of them off the top of my head.
I have Klingon Acedemy on DVD. It was never made that way, but I dumped the contents of all the CDs onto a single DVD and it installs and plays fine that way. I wish I could have done that with True Crime and a couple other 4+ CD games.
You can download teddy (the drawing engine)as a java applet from a university website in japan. It also has links to smooth teddy an updated version.

Yes urban legends to end up all over the media in the place they supposedly happen, but only when the journalism of the local media is so craptastic they cant bother to actually check the facts.
In columbus, Ohio. A mall was the supposed site of a famous legend, the story spread and the local media printed it as truth. Then a couple days late when no one could verify in any way the contents of the legend hey started to try to backtrack on the fear they were capitaliziing on.
The UL in this case was an old 1800's era one.
But sometimes the point of the humor is funny talking. For instance in the Life of Brian, the whole reason the Roman (I think he was a governor) was so funny was his way of speaking. Sure the scene where he talks about Bigus Dickus would have been funny without it, but it was a twist of the humor knife the accent gave to the whole thing. I'd also point out that in the same film the people were giving him names that would give him trouble to pronounce and they were all "He talks so funny, hur hur".
Back in the day "Shareware Games" comprised of not only some dude in is basement, it also was the only way most people experianced Doom and many other high quality (for the time) games. Later many of the high end "Shareware" people went to the "Industry" so there must be something to the "Industry" but then they went to be "Indie" so the "Industry" must not have been all that hot. Maybe in 10-20 years it will go back to "shareware".Many studios would not exist today IMO without the start they made in Shareware.
At least they had overcoats. I remember the TV series when that punk kid (Ritchie I think) became Immortal and was always wearing that varsty style jacket and then pulling a sword out is ass. Or the Highlander universe, like the Anime universe has a other dimension that characters can summon things from, Highlander has swordspace and Anime has Hammerspace. I suspect these dimensions are related to the Cartoon universe where people can summon just about anything when needed.
I seem to remember in the book, part of the reason he employed the small folk was to avoid industrial espionage, I think there was a bit about how he used to have problems of coming up with a new confection and then suddenly a rival would have a duplicate out.
Or am I somehow mixing "Toys" story with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I'm glad it has the Great Glass Elevator and seems to imply they will show the bits from the book (like how he got the umpa loompa people to work for him) that didnt make it into the first film version.
"We're NOT talking about alcohol -- we're talking about terribly addictive drugs which cause people to do absolutely anything to get their next fix, regardless of whether or not they have the money."
Having worked in a mini-mart I regularly saw people behave the way you describe but not for crack, for alcohol and tobacco products.
I think people need to understand only a certain percent of people want to be helped or kick the addiction. On top of that even the ones who want out have only a certain percent success rate.
The ugly figure is for alcohol that percentage is around 5%, no matter what they do (AA, no help, or a public health substance abuse program).
I can't say what the solution should be for the rest but I don't think prison is the answer, unless they have broken some law like stolen something, assaulted someone, DUI, etc real crimes. Simply being intoxicated in and of itself should not be the crime.
Lord of the Fries is abetter IMO Zombie based game then GBR, but thats because my first time playing it an experianced player blazed up to the front and I was spending most of the game running up the tracks.
A good place to find the hidden adventure games is the adventure company.

I was rooting/hoping the one scientist guy (who worked out the timing) would manage to make it out or at least much farther in the movie. Why can't someone who is smart and resourceful be successful as well?
At least use a hard one like IDSPISPOPD. Or the fake ones embeded in the Dark Forces data files.

I was partial to amber myself.
How about good ol "I'll destroy usenet" via my "Usenet Freedom Front" John Grubor

Americans invented a special hell called the DMV.
Teddy was also the engine used in the fun PlayStation2 game Magical Pengel.

It's a free mod, but you have to own BF1942 otherwise Desert Combat is so much wasted drive space.
You can see those "sambo" lawn statues all over the USA as well.
I've never seen an owl get /.ed.

On the non mac side I think one of the early deal wield games was Rise of the Triad.
I can just see it now. Slahsdot reviews "Clicking on the right side of the brain".
You can spend a whole lot less and get Dork Tower (a game in spirit of dark tower), sure it's not electronic, but it's 1/10 the cost.
