As long as governments want to draw these lines and claim nationalities then they need to be able to deal with problems that transcend those lines.

"Apple has paid $1 billion to developers." - is a half truth. That's maybe why the editor of the article put in the full sentence:

"And Apple has paid out over $1 billion to app developers (their 70% cut fo all sales)." (spelling error preserved so you could get a hardon)

Apple didn't 'pay $1 billion to developers' cause they're such nice guys. They did so because that's what the developers had coming to them. To put it in the context that they did it for any other reason is faulty and/or misleading logic.

It is clear that the $1B is referring to the money users paid for the apps

is 100% correct so don't get your panties in a bunch.

And then what happens if the medical union didn't get what it wanted at the bargaining table? Ooops sorry no medical attention for you, they're on strike.

My father is pro-union. In the years growing up at home his workplace went on strike no less then 3 times and each time he did not want to at all. None of his friends did, but management did. So our family was stuck accepting handouts to help feed the kids because some people wanted another week of vacation or another $1 an hour. He called other men 'scabs' as they drove past the picket line to work to try and feed their children. There may be a time and place for unions but I've never witnessed it. The end of my fathers work with his company, the union went on strike one last time, and forced the business to close up forever as they couldn't meet the demands. The company is currently located in Mexico where people who want a job can have a job and feed their children.

Reforms are clearly needed, since nobody should have any reason to fear anything but due processes if they are accused of a crime.

If we're to put cameras up why not equip each police officer with a wireless cam that transmits the signal through their car live over the internet. As soon as they sign in it has to be on until they sign out. They can be logged and archived and would probably do a lot of good in court. You'd also hear a ton of them whine about it cause they'd have to change their behavior.

Not to defend Outlook, but MS Exchange does come with Outlook Web Access. It provides a web-based interface that provides a web 2.0 interface to Outlook. Probably 90% of what you want to do in Outlook (read/writeyour mail, setup meetings, contacts, etc.) can be done in OWA. It even degrades nicely for older browsers. It's actually quite a sophisticated webapp...though of course, you're still using Outlook.

That may help defend against being a carrier, but the payload has already been delivered to the computer by then.
