Coral will due fine with the ocean becoming minutely less base. Coral evolved when CO2 was an order of magnitude higher than current levels, and thrived during the Eemian 130k years ago when temperatures were higher than current. Coral also has low generation times and rocks an extremely R selected reproduction strategy which means it's one of the least likely species to be adversely affected by changing climate.
The ignorance chemistry, biology, and natural history required to fall for the histrionics of climate change/global warming is ill becoming of nerds. It requires a serious hatred of the biosphere to work against raising CO2 to the plant friendly 1500ppm utilized in greenhouses and marijuana growing basements. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume ignorance is your excuse.
It rose over 300 feet at the end of the last ice age, humanity thrived. Sucks if you own beachfront property but not a problem for most of humanity, let alone an extinction level event. Ignorance of natural history is required to believe this scaremongering.
a mere 15 million years ago CO2 levels were 4 times higher, average temperature was several degrees warmer, and seas were 200 feet higher. The earth was an unihabitable wasteland! no, wait, it was lusher and more fecund than now. It's a reasonable hypothesis that returning the CO2 levels to their prehistoric norms could raise temperatures back to the previous levels. That it would cause extinction level events for humanity is ridiculous chicken little bullshit.
Global warming if it ever kicks in should increase the areas where cacao cultivation is feasible, thus increasing our supply of chocolate. Burn some coal for heat/electricity today to increase tomorrow's chocolate supply, it's a WIN-WIN!
I know a repeatable experiment. Greenhouse A. maintain at 100 ppm co2 Greenhouse B. maintain at 400 ppm co2 Greenhouse C. maintain at 1600 ppm co2 Grow pot in all 3 greenhouses. It dies in A, grows normally in B, And grows faster in C Simple reproducible science. The vast majority of plants grow better, and can grow in more marginal areas, with CO2 concentrations like they were 15 million years ago. The green choice is to increase co2 output massively
The Mongols invaded Russia in the winter so that they would have an easier time moving supplies on the frozen rivers with sledges. No player in the tech sector is as bad ass as Mongols of course.
when driving, i plug my treo into the cigarette lighter to charge, plug the cassette adapter in and listen to streaming shoutcast stations. hundreds and hundreds of stations out there to choose from, currently enjoying old time radio dramas mostly. sprint must have pretty good coverage because i've not had any dropouts in my commute or local trips. since i've already got the unlimited internet package on the phone for irc and browsing, so it's basically a freebie. i have been thinking of updating to a bluetooth capable car radio to make the wire mess a little cleaner
not the YouTube that is currently online at YouTube.com, which is Flash H.263 video that only runs on Macs and PC's and that's it.
youtube works great on my wii actually
"I seriously doubt anything from M$ has multi frequency capability needed to bridge US and EU networks. I could be wrong, due to advances in digital radio, but I doubt it and but I'm sure your and your wife's phones from 1999 are US only." doubt the phone from 99 is still functional period, but it may have worked
there are 4 gsm bands, any tri-band or quadband phone will work on either continent. the wing is of course a quadband phone.

no but steve gerber was limited by donald the duck
"Back in the late 1970s, the Walt Disney Company threatened to sue Marvel Comics over the design of Howard the Duck, which, or so they claimed, was too similar in appearance to Donald Duck. To avoid litigation, Marvel's old management signed an incredibly stupid agreement with Disney. Under its terms, all future appearances of Howard must conform to a set of designs that Disney provided for the character. You've seen this design. It's the one from the black-and-white HTD magazine, with the ghastly swollen beak, the beady eyes, and the baggy trousers that make the duck look like a derelict. What's absolutely astonishing, though, is that the Disney agreement is worded in such a way that Marvel isn't even permitted to create a new, alternative design for the character, even if that design bears no resemblance to Donald."
donald duck debuted in 34, 40+ years later they were using ip law to throttle the creativity of others based on a passing resemblence
i let my sattelite dish subscription lapse months ago the tv shows i watch, buffy, enterprise, stargate sg-1, southpark, adult swim, smallville all are available for download within days of showing, frequently before broadcoast
setting up a newsgroup robot to harvest my favorite shows is harder up front then using a tivo granted, but i can store the shows anywhere on my home lan which gives me 300+ gigs of show storage (60 gigs used up by my sons dragon ball z collection alone, but hard drives keep getting cheaper, and adding storage is trivially easy) if one of my friends miss a show, i can just burn 'em a vcd. i have no tv in my living room, but a 29" monitor and a dvd-drive equipped computer works very well in my entertainment center
$449+shipping was the cheapest i could find one so far

and they picked up a kid from sparta, and a kid from the future, and they all became eagle scouts in the sequal
can't remember the titles at all though, hope someone can
i still have both my mad scientist club books in a box under the stairs, guess i'll pick up the new ones for my kids to enjoy without worrying about them thrashing mine
well, it has gotten harder to find new 8 tracks at radio shack, but ebay always has blank 8 tracks for sale, value village and other thrift stores sell many prerecorded 8 tracks that it is easy to tape over
i have many mix 8 tracks i make from my mp3 collection for cruising in my car
They've been working on their embedded dram technology, which as an offshoot allowed them to make that demonstration athlon northbridge with 8megs of l3 cache. One of their athlon DDR chipsets coming out this year is supposed to have their integrated video, with the video ram being integrated as well, which should blow away the bandwidth available to these UMA systems.
The video is based on the Rendition technology Micron got when they bought out rendition years ago. They haven't released anything since their 2200 chipset way back when, but their visual quality and feature support were top notch back then, and the 3300 and 4400 chipset while never commercially released, did allow them to keep pace somewhat with the advance of technology.
If they can execute properly, we may finally see an integrated chipset that can compete with seperate video cards for a reasonable price.
Here in washington state we have (had? this was back in '86) the washington state pre-college test which all HS juniors are supposed to take. one day after the test these 3 guys in suits came to school to talk to me and determine how I had cheated, since my grades in no way supported my score. Luckily my teachers confirmed that my grades were solely the result of being a lazy bum who refused to do homework.
my first overclock was a 386 I had a 16mhz 386 in an intel inboard card(that I got as part of a trade deal for a car I had replaced the engine in). the inboard was for upgrading an XT to a 386, but I was sporting a 286-12 at the time which made the card useless Got a good deal for a 386-25 motherboard, as far as I knew the motherboard was fixed-frequency. Pulled the chip off the card and dropped it in. Ran fine for 3 years until I upgraded to a 486. Percentage-wise it was a better overclock then my cel300a that's been running perfectly at 450 since I bought it.
I have an intel venus and an intel providence p-pro motherbaords, both have undocumented jumper settings that allow you to go to 233 by upping the modifier. my p-pro 180's have no problem running at 233.
The best place I've found for finding undocumented overclock information is... well damn. tom's hardware used to have an overclock survey started back in the days of the p-pro, in the comments section people would list the jumpers to get the undocumented multipliers and bus speeds. After some fruitless searching it appears he has dropped this section. i sure hope i wrote down the setting for my boards.
In general, check the jumper settings for the various bus speeds and multipliers. If there are any possible settings that aren't documented, try 'em out
