It might go up a bit... but 4x over 6 years... even 2x over 3 years... complete BS. Most people who are going to be using netflix in 3 years are already using it.
it's a chrome issue, because chrome (in chromebooks) isn't a service, it's the underlying OS. If you have processes that are designed to work in chrome, then if google shuts down chrome then you're SOL. the hardware is shot unless you want to install linux, which is not going to be any help in getting these processes back. So yes, it's a chrome issue, and yes, it's a big deal. On a related note I have like 25 games on OnLive, and if it shuts down I lose all access.:(
this false dichotomy of direct vs. indirect costs have no bearing. Here's the issue: Q: is it a big deal if a journal charges $3,000 for an article? A: No, because the author has already invested > 10x in the article. The additional journal cost is small. QED.
I don't get your point, so you agree with me is that what your're saying? It's super expensive to write a journal article. If it costs a little bit to publish it in a good place then so what? A small fraction of the total cost and better than free posting on a website.
I find the argument over pay-for-placement journals kind of silly. I estimate it costs me $50,000 to write a journal article. This includes research, grad students, overhead, etc. Based on that, no big deal if it's an extra $3k to get it published!
I for one welcome my new time wasting overlord. Why the hell not, sounds like fun! I'm not going to hold my nose because of a 4 year old Linux thing, or a 15 year old cd root kit thing. What I care is, how awesome will bioshock infinite 2 or assassin's creed V look? The only thing missing fromm the summary is a ship date. Will it be out the door in time for Christmas?
agreed with Tourney... lots of jobs really suck, and lots of people are stressed to the point of health impacts and have considered quitting. Many of these jobs pay significantly less than IT wages. also, the survey in the summary showed a jump from 69% last year to 73% this year? stop the presses!
I assume they only set it up in the first place to spy on visitor communications. NK is building out their cyber team as seen in SK attacks. I guess they decided the spy opportunity wasn't worth it compared to the flow of info into the country.
that's the whole issue. Even if my android is secure, if somebody else's android is pwned then I can get screwed as well:
Voice - the other android's voice call is being recoreded/processed, grabs my credit card #, SSN, or other info.
Text: the other android is compromisded, sends me a text that appears to be from a friend.
Email: same as text.
In short, My security is at risk whenever I connect with somebody else using Android. My iPhone is really good at identifying which of my contacts has an iPhone vs. other, so this is a layer of added security for iOS.
Yeah but it sucks if the fucker I just emailed got pwned on his android and now the chinese govmt is all up in my business. fact: the android ecosystem is insecure. If an android phone touches your virtual sphere, it is a disease vector.
i take it that you're one of those people who took a very specific statement and used it as a license to do whatever you wanted? Now you have trojans? Sux, but at least it was a lesson learned.
maybe europe should switch to imperial / US customary units? how come the world is always telling US to change?
I don't get this? Is it encrypted? What does it have to do with google nose? It's too early n a mondday for me to parse this--insights?

hint: netflix for pr0n.

That's what she said!
I read the summary very closely to see if I could make a "that's what she said" joke, but I came up short.
First they came for the spammers, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a spammer...

Set up an international enforcement body. I am 100% serious.
fascist.
it's probably per year. don't you think? doubtful that they consume 270 TW of power.
yo dawg, I heard you like bitcoin, so I put some currency in your currency so you can spend while you spend.
inb4 HOSTS!
maybe if the routers had been configured with HOSTS FILES then all of this could have been avoided...

that's fine, just don't text/email/call me from your android, so i can be sure I'm safe.

'[Mass killers such as Lanza] don't believe this was just a spreadsheet. They believe it was a score sheet. This was the work of a video gamer'
wtf!??!?!??! how to go from a spreadsheet to gamer? might as well go from spreadsheet to accountant, the logical jump makes no sense!
also, keep in mind there are games with no guns in them - I'm playing through Arkham City right now, and Batman doesn't kill anybody!
