There's really not anything out there to handle mass production at this scale, but that's the best part; once you show that it can be done at a small scale, tons of resources come pouring in and generally they figure it out. The chip and solar technology right now is geared for a completely different type of production, so even this technology is amazing, it's got a lot of inertia to fight and would probably be 'born' at a startup, after a lot of failures.
How big is the waste though? I don't claim that documentaries are accurate, but one was claiming that you could take all of the nuclear waste ever produced and stack it a few feet high over a football field - that sounds like a really silly problem to even argue about. Another claim was that all of Frances nuclear waste is stored in ONE building.
I don't know if any of this is true, but we talk a lot about waste storage, but what is the volume of the actual waste?
To go with that, we're finding ways to reuse what used to be waste. I don't believe that we have a "store it forever" problem, but more of a "store it until we can figure out how to use it" problem.
Hey guys... I don't about you, but I come to SD to argue about RAPE, because there's no where else on the internet to do that, and this site right here has been rape based since day one! Can you believe some of these faggots talking about science in here? What a bunch of noobs. Clearly the issue here has nothing to do with science or using chemical detectors in new and interesting ways, it's all about how stupid all women are and how rape happy every man is. This is something new and exciting, so why not have the same conversation that everyone has had 50 times before?
I've done something similar, but I also tossed in a cheap 5kV ion generator and a grounding screen. You put the filter on the pull side, the generator in the middle and the grounding mesh on the push side and it does a decent job of filtering out particles and making the air smell fresh. You can get everything you need at Home Depot, except for the 5kV circuit, which is like $5 online.
I think it's even worse than that. They have near infinite computing an intellectual power. The network seems insecure to the most viable threat, which is organized banking and government. They have the resources to attack and dominate the network, it's just not worth breaking or exploiting yet.
I don't understand why the radar systems aren't a bigger deal. From what I understand, the missiles are radar guided, so doesn't that mean that in order to fire them they are probably using Russia's radar system? Wouldn't they have had to check about the radar ping? In any case, Russia can claim that they aren't responsible for what the separatists did with the missiles, but it's a different story if those missiles are tied into their radar system isn't it?
This seems awfully short sighted. If we were pigs we'd probably look for others by seeking out piles of crap and filth... and we're kind of doing the same here. I'd like to think that as we advance technology beyond setting things on fire for energy, that we'd start to clean the place up-- maybe even leave it cleaner than when we got here.

It would be interesting to somehow see the total dollars spent on gaming between the two groups.

This sounds like a video game perk. "Visible Supernova - Temporary 5% increase in research "
101 unoriginal snarky comebacks! This right here is why I have been moving from another aggregator towards slashdot...
Sadly, I think we still have complete deregulation on the checklist.
You're confusing DRM with overzealous copyright laws.
Says millions of Netflix users... without DRM there would be no Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Streaming, iTunes, etc.
