Many people pirate Windows, for many reasons. Cost, availability, etc.
But imagine now if it's becomes a nuisance to crack everypart of the OS which phones home. People will go elsewhere... legal perhaps.... but what about the people who wont pay.
With Linux now coming of age, it seems about right that a significant market share would now drift in the direction of OpenSource operating systems.
No mod points. I concur completely.
How about a Raspberry Pi?
Buy:
- a Pi. (http://www.raspberrypi.org/)
- Plastic Pi case (https://www.modmypi.com/shop/)
- 32gb SD card
- HDMI touchscreen (http://www.chinavasion.com/china/wholesale/Home_Audio_Video/LCD_Monitors_TV/8_Inch_LCD_Touchscreen_Monitor_AV_VGA_HDMI_Car_Kit)
Install Xbian, a XMBC media player based Linux os (http://xbian.org/) and you've got everything you need.
Cheap too!
I got mine yesterday (after my co-workers tricked me into thinking I'd not get it)..
It's slow like the Engadget guy said.. not up to HD media playback in a fast manner, though that should change once the software's optimised.
However, it's crazy low power, size and features mean I can make my own mini-nas/access point/controller for my caravan which runs on solar.
So many different ways to apply the Pi, as long as your aren't expecting it to be a fast desktop PC!
Anti-XSS protection exceptions however, are not a one-click solution. So hence it being a deal breaker.
You're confusing running Noscript, and it's per-site blocking - with XSS blocking which applies to all sites, not just one.
Might want to read up on NoScript, babes!
Neat, but that site wont work with NoScript installed unless you allow XSS.
Not a huge problem for some, but is a deal breaker for me.
unless there's a workaround?
The screen shot has an R5 pirate copy of Toy Story featured in it.
Guess they forgot to rename the file before taking a shot. Noice.
Portal was free earlier this year, as a build up to Portal 2.
If the accounts were all Steam accounts were activated then, and the game added - it would cost nothing.
They are amazing. My firm uses lots of them.
Dont buy the IPPBX 2820 - they're unreliable.
The 2820V/n models are solid as a rock, and have a ton of usable features

The comments on that page are amusing.
Check out the Amiga conspiracy nut going off on one. Excellent!
I do hate it in this day and age, where people speculate before people die.
Report the news after it's happened, not before.
It's like akin to reading about Jade Goody demise.
Everyone else is still buying XP + 2K3. It just works, if you're an MS shop.
I think that was a really good troll. If not, you're quite the nut case that needs locking up pronto! Aneurysm coming soon?
Torrent. Job done.
Just to say I had a 48k, 128k, +2, +3 before moving onto the Amiga 500.
The Spectrum made me who I am today. All hail the bald git, Clive!
But the project itself is a good idea.
Fork?
Cheesey, you're like a loose cannon with a set of rampant badgers inserted in the barrel.
It's not going to compromise M&W, lets face it. If so, they would have already gone to pot.
It will look nicer (read: no artificting) when texture compression is turned off - but there is a performance hit.
That will use the 512mb of ram.
Was pretty entertaining, but the pacing, but I was left wanting more.
If paced better, and was a 6 hour film I could really imagine it being something special.
As it was, I expected an epic, but was given more of a short story.
Still worth watching again, but not on par with LOTR in terms of immenseness.
7/10
Check this out for SP2 on Windows XP install CD: linky

Half Life 2 and Doom 3 both do.
The difference in HL2 between DX8 and DX9 is noticable.
My Athlon800 runs faster in DX9 with my ATI 9600XT. With DX8 mode activated it _crawls_.
Slashdot Virgins? Thats the entire userlist surely? /coat
You can monitor any protocol.
1. Run FileSharing app and share something you own the copyright too.
2. Open NetMon tool.
3. Read off list off incoming IP addresses.
No need to know anything about the protocol, but now you can trace every single person!
