You can buy a copy of Apple's OS independent of its hardware. It's not like it only ships pre-installed on Apple machines.

Is the copy that a consumer can purchase independent of Apple hardware a full license or is it only an upgrade license? Apple doesn't put too many restrictions at installation time to make it seem like it's an upgrade but they can certainly make an argument that all boxed copies of its software are upgrades. If that's vague, then all they have to do is change the packaging to make it clearer. Such a change would have no impact on the customer experience. Then the argument that you can buy a full license of Apple's OS independent of its hardware goes out the window.

In fact, here's the page from Apple on their online store. If you kindly click on the link that says "Find out which version you're using" you'll discover that there are two options for upgrade: from Leopard or from Tiger. I've looked all over their online store and couldn't find a full license of Snow Leopard sold anywhere that didn't require the consumer to own a previous version of OS X.

Perhaps you can show me where you are able to find a full license of OS X that is not an upgrade.

What allowed Nidal Hasan to kill people was rampant political correctness.

Whether what Nidal Hasan did constitutes terrorism is still open for debate. The typical things we identify with terrorism such as a political cause, message, or grievance is still unidentified. When a combatant buries an IED, we can assume that his issue is that the US leaves Iraq/Afghanistan. What's Nidal Hasan's gripe? His deployment? The US's role in the Middle East? Does anyone know? Does he even have one? When is an act terrorism and when is it just simple murder?

Is the shooting at Virginia Tech terrorism? Or is it only terrorism if the perpetrator is Muslim?

The incident in Entebbe was not hijacked out of Israel. It was an Israeli plane (El Al). The hijackers boarded in Athens.

There has only been one incident of hijacking from an Israeli airport in the history of Israel. That occurred in 1968. Justified fear or unjustified fear, their airport security works. The goal of airport security: prevent bombings and hijackings. Have they succeeded? Based on lack of bombings or hijackings since 1968, yes. Is it because of airport security or because no one in the world wants to bomb or hijack an Israeli plane packed full of Jews?

You can backup everything with Time Machine (Mac OS X). My hard drive recently crashed. The most recent backup was 15 minutes prior to the drive crashing due to automated backups that involves a simple configuration. Detection of a drive designated to be the target backup drive starts the process without the user having to do anything else. 2 hours after getting a new hard drive, I was ready to go again. Or your system preferences can be backed up to a cloud and replicated to other machines that you have access to with MobileMe.
