Microsoft created the Anti-Virus market through their bad design choices, now they are putting forth an "optional" effort to help alleviate the problem. I'd personally rather see them solve the bigger underlying issue that brought us all of the malware and viruses in the first place, which would really put the AV companies out of business. Would they cry foul then too?
10.04 is supposed to be a LTS release, and they are nearing their deadline. Roll back to the "stable" version of X, and push these patches forward to 10.10. Anyone who cares about having the latest and greatest will roll along with the 6 month release cycle.
Which browser you use for normal browsing should be irrelevant in regards to site development, as you should be testing across all major browsers.
Surf the web with whatever browser you prefer. To the end-user, everything should come out as the developers expected across the major browsers. I know you're likely not going to visit/. on all the major browsers, but I sure hope the/. devs do.
We've been using Postini for the past few years, and have had great results with it. I just hope the Google interface design team does some work with Postini. Not that the Postini interface is horrible, but it could use more of the polish that Google brings to their apps.
I use Cedega to play WoW with a nVidia 5900FX. I just switched from Win2k Pro and can say that I've seen no noticable drop in FPS, unfortunately I never checked my FPS in Windows, but I average ~50FPS under Cedega in 1600x1200x16. I can tell you that my latency in game went from an average of 63ms in Windows to 42ms in Linux/Cedega.
ISPs provide DNS services for their customers as well, why not just add a blank record for that domain on their nameservers so that it comes up unresolvable, or better yet, resolve it to an ISP run website telling the end user that the site has been blocked.
I realize that this isn't going to block the site for 100% of the people, but I would wager that the same people who could defeat this system, could defeat the layer 7 firewall as well.
It really depends on how it's presented. If you go in to a long winded explination on why it must be converted to.ogg files, and what advantages.ogg files have over.mp3 etc, make each step a manual process, then I agree that Joe Sixpack would probably not do it. But if there was a program where all Joe sixpack had to do was drag&drop their.mp3 files, and it would auto convert their.mp3 to.ogg and put it on on their new media player for them, I don't think they would have a problem using it.
"Oh, I just have to convert these mp3 files, and I can use them on my new music player? Ok"
If Joe Sixpack can be brought to believe that rebooting their machine everytime there is a problem is acceptable and a normal process, then getting them to run some easy to use utility to convert their.mp3 files to.ogg shouldn't be a big deal either.
I am a SysAdmin for a company that provides listings for real estate web sites. Sadly we aren't fully w3c compliant, but we make sure all of our code renders properly in both Mozilla/FireFox and Internet Explorer.
Last week We had 12,156,966 hits to our sites, which is only the search related pages, not photos etc.. 11,689,635 (96.15%) were from Internet Explorer.
I'd wager to say we would see a much more diverse range of users than a site specifically designed for web designers. I hate to say it, but IE is still as much of a force in the market as it ever was.
I'd say a lot of Minnesotan's know about Janklow as well.
Anyways, Janklow really isn't paying his dues either, 100 days in jail for vehicular manslaughter is a slap on the wrist compared to the maximum of 20 years that could have been given to him. It disgusts me that the person he hit and their family are the ones that are really paying for his crime. I'm sure if it was just an average person that was in the same situation, they would have gotten much closer to the maximum sentence.
Pretty cool that you would need a USB keyboard with this, now if I could only find one without those annoying windows keys, clicky keyboard would be even better.
Sadly that's all thats holding me to using PS/2, the lack of a decent USB 101-key (not 104-key) clicky keyboard.

Star Wars quotes?
I think a simple:
"Hi!" *genuine smile*
Would land most any geek... Star Wars quotes would be a bonus.

Any web designer or developer worth the paper their paychecks are written on should be testing their sites against all of the major browsers anyways.
Doing so makes whatever browser you're using for your normal browsing irrelevant.

F-prot from Frisk software. http://www.f-prot.com/
I just checked, and a 60 seat corporate license with full updates would run you $240 a year.
You're welcome!
It took me quite a while to find myself.
Have you checked out their Games DB? Specifically: http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios.com/wiki/World_ of_Warcraft#Mouse_Issues
If/when you upgrade to 5.0 I got the same fix to work by editing the ~/.cedega/configuration_profiles/cedega_5.0 file.

Windows NT 4.0 came in x86, PPC, SPARC and MIPS varieties.
3 cheers for the KDE team stepping up and making this happen!
Now hopefully Apple pulls the CVS'd version of KHTML, and bases their next release of Safari off if it, and the cycle can continue.
I can tell you that Minnesota does not tax groceries.
This actually looks like a great program, it's just too bad it's not cross-platform.

I just wish people would learn not to spend miles riding in blindspots. This happens to me a lot, at least one driver a day does this.
I would have been in far too many accidents if I hadn't looked over my shoulder. (Still at 0 accidents *knocks on wood*)
Actually you need to patch the linux kernel or write you own network stack to DO the remote attack against an OpenBSD box.
At least that's the way I read it.
Woohoo! Go Microsoft!
I hope you win this one.
Next thing you know, they will be able to handle e-mail.
What the hell... I'll take www.shaveyour.bush
*flashbacks from the 70's* Ugh...
