fear is probably one of our oldest (evolutionary speaking) emotions. how many other systems within body/mind could possibly rely upon it?
With something as fantastically complex and interconnected as the brain, altering it to handle a superficial manifestation of something as primitive as 'fear' couldn't possibly have wide ranging side effects could it?
I wonder what portion of people into that whole 'gluten free' business actually have celiac disease, vs people hopping on the new trendy health food bandwagon.. what's next.. gluten free acacia blueberry pomegranate beer fortified with phytonutrients and strawberry ketones? (next up on Dr. Oz...).
don't forget the self medication with alcohol.:( that gets expensive after a while.
what's always awesome and fun about these conversations is that people (typically right leaning types) hyper-focus on the entitlements that go towards individuals, while *completely* ignoring the corporate welfare that is our DOD and government procurement system in general, and is at least an order of magnitude greater in terms of cost. (not to mention entitlement programs for individuals put money directly back into the economy via consumer spending, as compared to a Raytheon or Boeing.)
did you really just suggest that? by disabling those features i'd have a dumb phone -- with the addition of a browser, I suppose. An overpriced dumb phone.
Maybe my eyes are going bad, but browsing the web on a ~3 inch screen at a snails pace isn't worth much to me.
i think you left off a third demographic "people who reject the need for being CONSTANTLY connected/tracked"
I make enough money for a smartphone, i know full well how to use one.. i just don't want to be constantly within nagging range of email or texts. And i definitely want nothing to do with social media, or stalking/snooping apps.
If there was a compelling reason for a smart phone and/or app (other than social media nonsense, or the aforementioned email/texts) i'd buy a smart phone. but right now, it's just about tracking users and this irritating social media bubble that cannot pop soon enough.
foolishness is not illegal. carrying cash is not illegal. carrying cash should not used as a proxy to assign guilt for some other crime. the police should not be able to press charges against *items* and deny standing to it's owner.
civil forfeiture is an abrogation of our civil rights and we should be throwing the ones responsible for it in jail.:(
Was this created by a content farming script or something? OK cool, so no more keys due to 'switchgate' how about explaining that scandal a bit ?
Or explain how the irritatingly passe use of appending 'gate' onto the end of anything resembling a scandal now applies to a car recalls rather than just political scandals.
Also, how about explaining how a push button start would correct the situation?
And finally; props for writing a summary that literally contains all the information contained in the article. (Well almost all of it.)
well then there's the whole due process thing and actually doing their jobs.. vs arresting someone based on a single claim of "HEY THAT GUY HE STOLE MY PHONE". just because you say your stole phone is at x location, doesn't mean it's really your phone to begin with.
As long as it allows people to take: obnoxious duck faced selfies obnoxious pictures of food cell phone cameras have been 'good enough' for years.
Now when it comes to joe and/or jane sixer taking pictures of 'real important events' (that like 99% of the photos taken, will never be viewed -- ever) does the DSLR's better image quality really matter? Looking back at childhood photos (my parents had a polaroid) I couldn't possibly care less that the photo is a bit grainy, or that the camera didn't take pictures with the sensitivity of a fucking CIA spy satellite.
i wonder how the show "Moon Shiners" gets away with this -- they even have diagrams on how the stills work. (Granted, alcohol isn't as hard or illegal to make, but moonshine AFIAK is illegal to produce, even for personal use)
Your signature is oddly ironic for this particular subject.
If this is true, what does that mean for wankers like Kurzweil and the fantasy of the 'Singularity'?
no way.. that kind of creation myth sounds like great fun. that it also describes 'The Hobbit" is just a coincidence.
didn't they create the intellimouse explorer (those were hot shit back in 1999.) as well as the natural keyboard?
Salem1!

the Germans are not a people known to fuck around, doubly so when beer is involved.
I'll take my cues on beer from the Bavarians :)

Hmm currently only available for Mac..
On one hand, smacks of hipsterism. on the other.. as a windows user, now i know how it feels.
Did the mullet come with the car, or did you have to grow it separately?
(kidding, of course. The sad thing is, that car probably gets mileage than than just about anything made before 1990)
did you really just suggest that?

I think to be technical his wife is extremely rich, he's just 'wealthy'. :)
also the liabilities rule in the US are much more lenient than say.. Germany. (it's also much easier to get a license -- and more mandatory)
you mean preying on passing motorists is not a public safety issue???

300 employees is not a startup IMO. new or small company sure, but not a startup.
