Who are these buffoons in charge of the record labels? Are they really this stupid? Or are they really living in a fantasy world where they believe they wield the power?
I'm also led to believe that Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms" was also one of the first set of albums from the assembly line and subsequently went on to be the first CD album to sell over one million copies.
Hard to believe that since Brothers in Arms was released in 1985.
I graduated high school in 1985. I remember having to select a path my sophomore year. I chose the "Academic" path which allowed me to take Honors and AP courses. I was no longer eligible to take some other classes like shop. I figured this was the better way to go.
Today, I earn $50K as a developer. I should have gone the "vocational" route and taken shop. I could have become a housing developer and made millions the last decade.
Thanks for guiding me down the right path high school!
I work for a city government. I learned a long time ago that trying to push open source software is pointless. Gov't organizations don't want it. They don't want something for free. It screws up the budget process. If we can save $10K on something, that will only hurt us for next year's budget. We can't have a lower budget. We must increase it every year and then actually spend that money. Otherwise, the budget office will slash our budget.
Please don't bring common sense into this argument. Gun fanatics don't won't to hear that. Just imagine if some students were carrying guns and they started shooting back and then the police were able to get in. Who do the police shoot at? Probably everybody with a gun.
You are absolutely correct. I'm looking to replace my PowerMac Dual G5 with a new Mac Pro, but I've got two lousy video card options, the Nvidia 7300GT or upgrade to the ATI X1900 for an additional $300. The NVidia Quadro FX is out of the question. I'm not paying $1500+ for a video card. When Apple has a good middle option, I'll be upgrading.
Thats because its all about TV market. Thats why hockey pulled out of the small cities who were passionate about their hockey and went to the big cities in the south where hockey was nothing more than a curiosity.
But we're supposed to have better infrastructure than Europe. Remember all the fees that were added to your phone bills since the 90's? They were supposed to go to building better infrastructure. What happened to them? The phone companies gave the money to the CEO's and shareholders. Thats what happened.
Come on, OS/2 was good but it wasn't THAT good. The video drivers crashed all the time on me and would force me to reinstall the OS. And it still had the dreaded C: prompt like Windows. I ran it from 1993 through 1998 but I saw it had no future, so I sold all my OS/2 software.
I find OS X to be a much nicer OS than OS/2 ever was. Its probably got something to do with Unix.
Because Microsoft makes it so easy to bash them.
While I admire what he's doing, I don't find it as important as what the other three people are doing. They are the real heroes.
Average salary in the $80K range?
Its designed for doing technical documentation. It began as a SGML toolset but has since moved on to XML.
Sounds much better than MP3. Its really the replacement for the MP3 but for some reason they went with a new name.

Its been his lifelong dream to work for Microsoft.
I prefer to work with PostgreSQL for the data and Django for the website.
Can't believe that it has any chance of becoming an ISO standard unless Microsoft has completely bought the entire committee.

Of course, the gov't would probably force him to.

They don't have to buy the mainframes. If any other company tried to do this, it would cost them $250 million.

This is why I hate my job. No incentive to save.
I used to have to reinstall Windows every three months. Those were the days.
In respect to those who lost their lives, I'm going to watch The Right Stuff this weekend along with the SpaceShipOne DVD from The Discovery Channel.
The end is near.
You shouldn't do complex presentations in Powerpoint. You're much better off using Keynote. It kicks Powerpoint's ass.

An outdated digital codec for an outdated format! Just kidding about vinyl though. I love vinyl. Just provide AAC or even better, FLAC.

Or those who were out of town and had their guns stolen after a break-in.
