Dude, there's a 4th book. Children of the mind. And yes, Jane is in that book. Also, this book is more weird than Xeno..
Anyone bought something from Clubcomputer.com?

Palm IIIe Announced

Hello; I'm about to buy a palm IIIx. (MSRP: 370). shopping.com and buycomp.com used to have the IIIx at 250ish -- now they're both around 300. I want to buy it from clubcomputer.com for 250ish but you must have a membership. There is a Trial membership for $1 but it seems like it could be a scam, Has anyone bought anything from clubcomputer.com?
Check out www.jabber.org. It's supposed to allow a way to communicate with people via a number of protocols (AIM, ICQ, etc) without you having to keep an AIM client open, an ICQ client open, an IRC client open.. etc..
I got the Emulator, but to get a ROM image of the PalmOS you have to do a long process that grants you developer status.. You have to list apps for the palm os that you have written, and are writing, etc.. It's a big hassle.
After reading all of the Palm testimonials here on/. on the last Palm article.. I'm really thinking about getting one. However, I only have a crappy high school summer job, so the latest and greatest is out for me.
The Palm website says that III's are $250 and IIIx's are $370. Does twice the storage and a better screen warrent $120 dollars?
Another question -- Does it come with the cable to hook it up to my PC?
This seems like a great time to plug FICS. (Free Internet Chess server). I have played "team games" there, which is somewhat similar, but on a much much smaller scale. I'm talking about games like 3 on 3 here. It was nice because we had some others to bounce of ideas.. Then again, we had a focused discussion. Not something the "world" can do very easily.
Well, the kernel code has "forked", basically. From the 2.2.x code came 2.3.x.. Updates to 2.2.x will not contain new features, and will only contain bugfixes etc. The new features are tested out in the 2.3.x series (where stablity is not much of an issue -- until the jump to 2.4.x approaches)
Well, I'm from Texas and always thought it was: Deb - EE - un. (Deb sounding like Debra.) I have a friend around here who says Dee - bee - ahn. Just like you do. (: It's funny though.. I have typed Debian more than I have said it. (Well, if you exclude the wild chanting I just went into to write down the phonetics above!)
Well.. the exploit was out there.. just not in the public. I got hit on IRC w/ nestea before the patch came out. 'Twas annoying..

oh, and if you're not behind at LEAST one firewall and you're connected to the Internet, you deserve anything you get hit with-- regardless of OS. Period. So, my grandmother.. On a dialup account on a win95 box.. In a support for disability channel on IRC.. deserves to be teardroped?
This comment is at -1.. Another comment which was dated 1 minute earlier that contains the same information is at 5. This guy wasn't TRYING to be redundant! This post doesn't deserve to be at negative one. He posted this to try to be a nice guy.. Look what happened. He got slammed 2 points because he was down a minute, and now there's a good chance he won't be a moderator because of his negative alignment. This scares me, because I don't want to only people left with postive alignments to be moderators who hit the -1 far too liberally. Read the guidelines. Focus on promoting, not demoting!
I remember once,/./.'ed a MSNBC poll. I don't remember exactly what it was, it was a long time ago.. But I do remember that MSNBC took down the poll after we skewed it.
I'll kill you in my dreams. I turn the other cheek during the day. I'll kill you all. (I'm so sorry.)
The subculture of my dreams is waiting for me to fall asleep. I know you're scared; you should be. I know you're scared.
Hero.
This attic of my mind, these feelings I can't hide, I can't share I feel alone.
The subconscious keeps me here. I fell in love with a balladeer. I saw your tounge; it licked my heart. They called you queer.
Hero.
Dreamer.

Ok, I believe this song is really about the dark side that everyone has (normally expressed in dreams).. But I found it strangely appropriate. Parenthesis represent lyrics I've heard in concert.

I'd rather have a life than a living.

Cool.. Note AAAA is not a part of the address, it is only the DNS record for ipv6 addresses (like MX is for mailing)
6bone.net AAAA 3FFE:B00:C18:1:0:0:0:10

Less is More, and 128kbps is "orders of magnitude" greater than 28.8kbps. since when is *4 an order of magnitude?
128 kbps = order of magnitude of 100
28 kbps = order of magnitude of 10
Granted, those are bits, and we all think about bytes, but it's still true..
Daveo, my man, Why'd you give up the caps?

Me too!
Really. I am tired of all these FPS and RTS games. In fact, I'd rather play chess or bridge than another quake or warcraft clone.
(Speaking of that.. There needs to be a bridge program for linux. Any coders interested?)
Or maybe I think Microsoft, Adobe, Apple and Macromedia are making too much money already, and this is my little protest against them.
Unfortunatly.. I don't think piracy harms the companies like you want it to. Think of it this way..
If MS-Office had never been pirated, do you think it would be the de facto standard for documents in the workplace?
Funny, it's down for me.. Do you guys read German? (;
Hey, I heard someone mention this earlier..
"Effer". (Said "F'er")
I mean, come on.. How many of you haven't effed up something on a computer before (;
Did you ./configure with the option specifying gnome support?
Red Hat? Don't you remember The Catcher in the Rye? It's an obvious refrence to Holden Caulfield's red hunting hat!
Wait.. No it isn't. I can't think of any other similarities. (:
