In a previous story re: 2.6.x someone mentioned that PS/2 (the interface, not the Game system) Mouse support is broken w/ 2.6 if you're using a KVM switch. I have experienced this problem w/ 2 different KVM setups (one at work and one at home) and wondering if this has be resolved.
In a nutshell; The problem occurs when I switch back and forth between machines my mouse stops working or goes erratic. (the work-around is to restart gpm and then X) I dropped back to 2.4.24 because it doesn't have this problem.
I have Q3 for linux (paid $20 Woohoo over a year ago!) I'm currently shopping around for a decent 3d card that works w/ xfree and has (Open Source) hw accelerated 3d. Looks like the Radeon 9100 is the only (nice) one. But nobody seems to have one in stock. for under $80:(
I would be more interested in talking about the internals, not the eye candy anyway).
Then you are posting in the wrong thread my friend. You do realize that the "eye candy" is what most people see when they use a computer. Apparently It isn't the case for you but for me, I typicaly don't compile my OS.
(which is not part of the OS in any serious OS
That's a lame and short-sighted comment. (I don't use it, but) MacOS X isn't a serious OS?
You know, I toyed with the idea of picking up a 15" TiBook.
1. I think the 12 " is too damn small. The 17" is just absurdly large. The 15" just feels right (for me at least).
2. The one-button mouse thing. Yeah, I know it's a lame excuse, but I just find it rather detracting in a Special Ed kind of way. I wish apple would change that. And no, I don't want lug around an external mouse.
I dont know but IMO a smaller/thinner notebook is a very specialized product for a small market. I personally have a Dell Inspiron 4150 and I think it weighs in around 5-7lbs, but I think it is a perfect weight/size
To each his own. The notion of the perfect size/weight is subjective. I personally think the IBM T30/T40 is the perfect wieght at less than 5-lbs and it is still very functional.
And exactly where is the free software movement today? Remember this is in terms of the FSF; the open source movement is something entirely separate from what RMS preaches.
.
I know difference:)
The idea that Free (as in speech,) Software and the philosophy of sharing that set the groundwork for projects like the Linux Kernel and Samba to name a couple, such that the software it's produced is seeing use in devices from MP3 players to IBM Mainframes.
He gives the Free software community a bad name, and with him on the forefront, Free software will never be part of corporate america (which is becoming more and more synonymous with America itself.)
I disagree. Without people like Mr. Stallman, The free software movement would not be where it is today. His "problem" is that he envisions a perfect world where all software is free. This is a noble goal, but the reality is that this will never be. There will always be need (and a market) for non-free software. But keep in mind also that not everyone in america is a corporation.
I for example have a 1998 sentra, so nothing like onstar, but I do have a CHECK ENGINE light as well. Diffrence is, I know where my access port is, and it blinks the engine code.
(OT) Assuming you can find the acess port , how do you detimine what the code is/means? The owner's manual for my car, (a 98 Mazda 626) doesn't tell you squat except that "you should take it to a service center as soon as possble." I'm interested in learning about diagnostics to know what's wrong with my car.
I personaly use this paticular printer at work. This thing is awesome and very fast especially for bulk jobs. The *nix OS support is very good since it runs an LPD service. but as you said the consumables cost $$$.
can you say "hidden APIs" anyone? and just when sun figures it out there will be an update/patch that will change things around again.
You know, every time I hear this arguement, I always think, well, if MS's own products use the "hidden API" if they issue a patch, wouldn't that break their own apps? It makes me wonder if it's really true that there are hidden API's in windows.
Yeah, install an afterburner kit with the stealth dimmer switch. Sadly, I tried it and fsck'd up prying the screen from the faceplate (I cracked the LCD). I still have the kit, but I'm too lazy and enjoying the new gameboy I bought to replace the one I lost to bother attempting it again. I know about this place but when you count shipping and labor, the price is steep.
I think metroid would make a decent movie. but I doubt any one but true fan of the game and is a writer/director would do it any justice. I had no desire to see Tomb raider. I caught it on cable and it only confirmed my initial impression that it sucked.

No, it's not flamebait, But please expand on that. In what way should it change why?
...can I buy a boxed Linux Version of this game?
:(

I know you're being sarcastic, but did you know that there is such a beast?

You must be the authority on bad puns.

What you descibed already exists it's called I2O.
It didn't seem to take off because Microsoft wanted to shut out Open Source developers. See this
Simple answer: If your current hardware does what you want acceptably, then there's no need to upgrade.
I second Viewtiful Joe. Got it for X-mas, great game! Reminicient of many old school games. (Double Dragon, River City Ransome, even Mega Man, et al).
Another great original GC Tittle is Pikmin.

...When are going to switch to the "Stardate" notation of time?
The State of Utah is predominately Mormon.
So yeah, Novell is probably run by Mormons.

Also IBM=Inverted Bowel Movement.
You mean like this?

Pr0n is not educational. In fact, watching pr0n could warp your sense of reality.
:) ), despite what a pr0n flick will have you believe, not all women like anal sex.
Here are some rules to help clue you in:
1. If you're interviewing for a job and the HR Person is a hottie, no matter how hard you imagine about having sex with her. It just won't happen.
2. If you catch a woman masturbating that doesn't mean she will/has to have sex with you.
3. As a previous poster mentioned, if by chance you manage to get that far with a woman, ejaculating on her will not make her orgasm.
4. And lastly, (and trust me on this one guys
But is it Edited/Censored? If it is, then it's no better than what Cartoon Network does and I don't want it.
I think metroid would make a decent movie. but I doubt any one but true fan of the game and is a writer/director would do it any justice. I had no desire to see Tomb raider. I caught it on cable and it only confirmed my initial impression that it sucked.
...I'm still waiting for OS Drivers for my Ti ACX100 based Wifi Card.
Translucency in win2k? You want this. The author of this software posts on /. sometimes.
