Yea, this offshoring is rather annoying. All the textile jobs moved offshore, so people got into IT. All the IT jobs are moving offshore, so where do we go? What happens when plumbing jobs go offshore? We'll eventually be a country of rich corporations and unemployed citizens. Well, maybe that's a bit of a longshot, but it makes you wonder.
Also, wget will listen to robots.txt, just specify what is allowed and what isn't allowed for wget to grab. Granted, this can be circumvented, but it should help with most of the users who are not smart enough to get around it.
Didn't bro. You just brought up a point that made me think of some other things to say. I did confuse median with average until you reminded me of the difference tho.
Hrmmm, that may be the case. They should be going by the average to establish a rate, not what most of the people use.
Reguardless, I think the same thinking of driving down the interstate would apply here. They won't pull you over for speeding if you are in a group that is all going about the same speed. But if you are clearly blowing past the majority of people, they are coming for you. Yea, you could use your pipe 24/7 uploading and downloading Bittorents, but that's not what they intend for residential usage. They either want him to 1) curtail his high usage or 2) pay for a commercial plan.
Unlimited usage is a very misleading term, but I think it was a relic from the dial-up age, where Unlimited mean hours of usage, not bandwidth. The AUP probably defines what "unlimited" means for his contract, and probably also includes the "this AUP can change at anytime we see fit" clause. So, he's basically going to have to go by the AUP, or find another provider with a more friendly AUP.
No where in the constitution does it decree we all get unlimited unmetered high bandwidth connections to the Internet. Sorry, he's got a few choices, they may not be the choices he wants, but he needs to make one.
1) Abide by AUP 2) Find another provider with better AUP 3) Purchase commercial plan which probably has more favorable AUP.
It's nice you are sharing legal software with others. Kudos to you. But don't expect them to beleive this is nothing illegal, and don't expect them to allow you to pay $49.95 or whatever for 100 times the average. I'm sure if you were 2 or 3 probably even 10 times the average, you'd be ok, because, after all it's an average. But when one or two people are sending that much traffic over their network, it's raising their cost, and eating into everyone's pocket, because the only way to recover would be to raise all subscribers prices.
If you have another choice for a provider, check their AUP. If not, either accept the terms of the AUP and not leave Bittorrent open for the whole month, or go back to dailup.
Remember, you don't have a right to broadband, so use it wisely.
But the Dell DJ sucks from usability. Blender reviewed all of the current iPod killers (before the mini iPod) and said while some where cheaper (the dell), none of them could compete with the style, user interface, and ease of use of the iPod.
Also, the iPod is the only player that works with audiobooks.
That's the biggest reason I'm trading in my MD player for an iPod. That, and now that I use iTMS, my purchased music is easily transferred to the iPod, I'd have to do some crafty work around to get it into the MD player.
Prices are not copyrighted nor confidential. If they get leaked from the printer, that's the printer's problem, not the person who posted it on the Internet. Yes, this is problably "not right" to post this information, but neither is it "right" to pursue illegal action under the DMCA to find out who posted pricing info. Prices have been ruled once to be not copyrightable. The DMCA deals with copyrights, and not other illicit acts. Best Buy is acting illegally and squashing free speech by taking this course of action. You should be allowed to talk about sale prices if you know of them, without fear of lawsuits. There is no reason this is even remotely protected under the DMCA.
They claim the cards do not track the players winnings, but what they spend to "comp" you with freebies. Of course they aren't free, you paid for them when you dumped your money to them at the casino, but it makes you feel better anyway.
Also, the EEPROM chips in slots are closely watched, and only certain payouts are legal. And the authorities do random checks by pulling the EEPROM chips to check the for the correct odds. If a casino is in violation they are fined heavily.
The most this could possibly be used for is telling which machines are played the most, and allowing the casino's to place lower payout machines in higher traffic areas. This is what they've been doing all along tho, so this might only benefit them slightly. Anyway, if you think a card or anything is going to affect the pre-programed odds of a slot machine, that's just stupid. Slots are already a very low payout, something like 5-10% of what is paid into them.
I guess they never watched The Peole vs. Larry Flint... parodies are protected by the First Amendment and the Supreme Court upheld this ruling in the suit against Larry Flint... therefore, this cease & dissist has no basis and should be pursued as frivolous and American Greetings should have to pay damages...
I thought DD was a good movie for what they had to work with. DD was never Spidey in the comics, and the movie had to follow the Spidey movie which was huge, and I think a lot of people expected an edgier Spidey movie, when that isn't even what the comic was.
Daredevil wasn't awful, the vision effects were really cool and the sound effects were the first in a movie that I felt they spent as much time on as the movie itself, as the sound played a really important role in certain scenes.
I think most of you all are taking pot shots at DD because of Affleck, but he's really a good actor.
Actually US agencies cannot employ convicted criminals... the fail the background check... if you had listend in the wake of the attacks you would have heard this repeated several times, as the CIA would like to get this law (or ordinance or whatever it is) repealed...
This should go both ways, since he isn't a US citizen and isn't given freedom of speech protections... a program he wrote and distributed in Russia shouldn't be held accountable under US law...
Everyone of Katz's stories were submitted by people that need to learn responsibility. The one exception being the 16 year old who was charged with a misdemeanor, that record should have been sealed and destroyed when he turned 18 (since 16 is a minor). The rest are stories of people who don't want to claim responsibility for their lack of (or bad) judgement.
The only thing that the speed of getting these reports hurts is the people that don't pay their bills or get into arrangements they didn't read over... at least know how to get out of a monthly payment scheme... come on!
As far as erroneous entries, I'm sure these are few and far between, and while it may be a pain to get cleared up, they will get cleared up... just cite quotes from the Consumer Credit Rights Act and the companies will most likely aide you in any erroneous entries.
Just my opinion... I could be wrong...
P.S. I've had one missed payment in my credit card history, luckily it was on a student card and it hasn't affected my credit rating so far... I've gotten car loans, new cards, etc since then... One missed payment won't kill you, but repeatedly missing bills does... and that is something you should be responsible for keeping up with.
It's odd only selected person's are getting this... maybe this was a pure and simple fuckup and the data was corrupted so they defaulted it back to "normal" as I've not gotten this mail, but I've gotten other auction correspondence...
Kinda like the "confirm before you delete this read-only file" option... they want to make sure that the people who need this the most don't just kill the communication without knowing what it is...
I'm sure there is a valid reason for doing this, but I've not gotten this email, and I know I opted-out of third party emails...
It's still not/spam/... you did sign up, and maybe they updated the information they are sending in these emails and want everyone to give it a try... but this probably isn't the most "slashdot-friendly" way to go about it, but most of their users probably suffer from the "flashing 12:00 syndrome" and never bother to change the defaults and this is what they were hoping for...
At least they did warn you they changed settings....
This isn't spam mail that they are setting back to yes. This is the notifications that you have been outbid, your auction has ended, and your invoice has been processed. I'm sure that they have an autocheck that puts these back to keep customers from missing valuable communications and not spam.
I haven't receieved anything unwanted from eBay, the only time I get mail from them is these notifications that i've been out bid, my invoice was processed, an auction ended etc...
I think the person who wrote this in isn't reading to what exactly these prefrences send them, and they are trying to make eBay seem spam friendly...
Or they will switch to pushing products in the show, you'll see COKE billboards or a star drinking PEPSI, or guzzling BUDWISER on wrestling... it's not that they don't do this now, they'd just be forced to do it more...
Didn't take it that way, I was just pointing out that at least Wrestling sells... and they don't mind rumor and internet sites posting "insider" details, they even play off of the hype from the internet now...
It just wasn't "fun" this time around. Corporatized sports are about as much "fun" as the WWF and WCW wrestling are "intelligent". It just isn't made to be that way.
At least the WWF can sell a significant amount of pay-pwer-view buys on a monthly basis, something the Olympics had a hard time doing during that "Olympic Triplecast" bullcrap 10 or so years ago...
Besides, the WWF is so much more entertaining than any Olympic event.

This link should help you out.
The name was probably document.zip [lots of spaces] .exe
That was the format of the attachment, to get people to open it.

Win98 was better than the "upgrade" that was called ME...

IANAL, YMMV, etc...

Well, if the systems are crashed all the time, I guess it's secure because no one can use it!
This is rather odd, I thought we wanted to secure our homeland, not allow the terrorists to kill our IT departments with ILOVEYOU viruses...
