    seriously, everytime a db discussion comes up here ppl are referring to mysql and postgres. how come firebird almost never gets any credits?

    acid is the first feature that gets mentioned on their factsheet http://firebird.sourceforge.net/guide/FBFactsheet. html

    remember 98lite? i used the micro option on some party p75-mp3-box to get w98 under 50mb (!)

    the company now offers 2000/xplite

    just look at the page what can be stripped out, looks pretty amazing.

    firebird is a remarkable product. period. hats off to the developers!

    i've been developing commercial software since 93 with borland delphi. delphi is a fine ide with awesome db powers. it came a long way with that crappy paradox/bde thing with a bunch of drawbacks, but interbase is a professional and very powerfull dbs with its sql dialect.

    the firebird project forked back in 2000 as interbase became opensource. as it is licensed under a gpl incompatible license there will always be flaimbaits. especially here on /.

    sure, it got alot of attention due to the name conflict, but software developers that rely on a powerfull and stable db engine surely know about it for a long time.

    most ppl are downloading it to have something to brag about. others are just peeking at it for the fun of it, like me. just a few grep's showed some interesting things...

    the file actually is the zip to the spreading files.txt

    whats a little bit weird is a linux coredump at private/security/msv_sspi/core

    it appears someone named eyala from mainsoft used vim (VIM - Vi IMproved 5.6 (2000 Jan 16, compiled Mar 7 2000 12:18:07)) on a redhat x86 box under xfree86/kde on a w2k sp1 sourcefile, well until the box ran out of memory...

    21 grams was the finest movie this year imho.

    i saw rotk and finding nemo... everyone loves those two and they were just awesome, no doubt.

    21 grams is just a different movie. do yourself a favour and watch this one, you wont regret it.

    everyone makes the experience in his life to loose someone very close and you will see the world with different eyes, will start thinking about things you never had. the movie tells a sad story with such a view, and i must admit its been told beautifully.

    this movie really has a meaning, watch it and maybe you will see what i saw.

    i second that, i was blown away by crouching tiger hidden dragon and hulk wasnt as good as it could be, but it surely wasnt as bad as ppl are yelling.

    same goes for the matices, ppl are expecting something different, but the 3 movies as a whole were damn good
