I'm curious, how often do you feel your PC? Mine just sits on the floor chuging away. I guess if you're into the tactile pleasures of handling your computer the Mac may be the way to go. For the rest of us who are interested in Price:Performance the PC still leads the way.

Saying that productivity went up becasue more hours were worked is analogous to saying your ran faster because you ran longer.
One aspect of the GPL I don't see discussed much is the issue of consideration. Without it a contract is invalid, and I don't see any in the GPL. Has there been any analysis of this?

Productivity is defined as output per unit of time. Increasing the work period does not affect productivity.
