I had mine a bit longer. I can't remember exactly when I opened it. However I do know this. I went almost a year without touching the account and found it was still active when I did return to it. I have been with my current local ISP since 1994 and back in those days, I focused exclusively on my ISP for mail. Then at some point when hacking and infected email became a problem, I went to yahoo to try and recreate an account and it said that I still have an account open. I had it reset the password and I continued to use it to this day.
I seriously wonder if you can even close it and have it's contents deleted. I don't think you can.
I can see this now. Microsoft's idea of taking the buyout issue straight to the Yahoo shareholders is really saying; "we're sending Guido, Marko, and Tony "Bullets" Kelly out to each of the residences of the shareholders and forcing them to sign agreements releasing their shares to Microsoft... or else!
Next thing you know, Microsoft will have advertising like; "Yahoo mail. We; at Microsoft invented Internet mail much like the rest of the Interet! Now we can improve Yahoo mail!"
Fact is that if there is packet inspection going on, this is slowing down traffic on that one connection. Imagine now that there is many users traffic who is being "scanned", redirected or filtered, et al.
Now; has anyone else noticed that the net is getting slower and slower recently?? We already know that sites such as FoxNews.com and other similar types, have special applets that download and attempt to arrange items on the page so that you are forced to see specific adds for a specific period of time before the rest of the page; including the intended content shows into view!
There are other sites that are beginning to "fiddle" with flash ads and present them in a way that you are unable to avoid them. This is getting to be quite annoying.
I smell shades of McCarthy'ism... What is going on with this country when there is so much divide that people are resorting to out an out violations of constitutional law. And; if memory serves me correct, this has shades of Watergate on it too.... Hmmm... The only thing they haven't done is break into some building housing said logs with which to look at them...
I think it rather self-evident that this church will burn baby burn. They're not needing any help at all from the rest of us. They're doing quite well on their own! Just sit back, grab some marshmellows and get ready to roast!!
Identical laptops with 2ghz P4's and 1gb RAM, and 100+gb hard drives, and DVD/CD burners. One of them is running Fedora Core, and the other is Windows XP Pro with all its shots applied. I have absolutely no compelling reason to change it and I even have seen Vista run on this same laptop (swappable hard drive caddies), and was not at all impressed. In fact, rather bummed out that I spent money on an OS that ran like crap, was missing many apps that are included in XP, and cost more than XP. Worse yet, many of my standard operating software applications would not run on Vista. Program development is a joke. Frankly, I think we'll leave things alone. Old rule of thumb: "Don't fix it if it ain't broke!"...
We have 8 computers in the house, and all of them got this update pushed. Unfortunately, Apple has taken upon itself to operate much like Microsoft where they automatically check all options for you so you don't have to think about it, and just accept what they want to install in your computer. A few years ago we used to refer to this technique as "Drive by download", but now there is so much bundling and tying going on, it isn't funny.
I have a whole lot of machines that DO NOT NEED Itunes, but I must have Quicktime installed. After you successfully get Quicktime solo installed, God help you when Quicktime gets a notice to update, because you'll magically get slammed with Quicktime's update, plus Itunes, and any other crap that Apple deems that it needs on *your* computer!
You have to jump through a whole lot of hoops to install just Quicktime and leave off the other stuff. Apple apparently doesn't seem to see it that way, and thinks that you *need* all of this. I really don't know what to think anymore. They seem to be under this misguided impression that all these computers of ours, are really theirs for the taking. Strange but Microsoft feels that way too! What's going on here with these *commercial* operating systems anyway?
Actually I think you probably have it right there!!! The fact is that they just recently told the FCC to go f***-off as you can't do anything to us. Who's to say that they now begin to require this as part of the TOS when you sign up!! Then they sell use of it to the FBI and the CIA too... Who really is to stop them... Ugh... consumers???!! Hmmm.. Here comes that old line of the "well informed consumer". Thank God for/.!
It really does. If they "delayed" release of this, then they must have been waiting to "lock in" the format war so that they wouldn't have to go supporting both standards. Apparently the Blu Ray was easy enough for them and now that there is "vendor lock-in", this pretty much says that they really are dictating the markets. This really speaks volumes about marketing tactics.
This will likely change substantially once the elections are over and we see what kind of political layout we have in Congress and the Senate. Remember the Dem's are the ones who are likely to kill Net Neutrality because they need a river by which to generate revenue streams for their programs. Market driven forces do not bode well in 2009 I suspect. Albeit; the real telling will be after November and we'll know for sure. I hope a lot of people are paying attention instead of being glued to their social web sites. Unfortunately I still suspect that money talks and bull**** walks, and someone in the FCC would simply drop the case on them and they get off. There has already been too much inequities passed around as it is. I don't like it one damned bit.
I just downloaded it and installed it. On my 2ghz P4 laptop, it took almost 4 hours to fully install and then download yet more updates. However that seems to be the only rub. It appears to be functioning normally and unlike others, I don't see any real improvement in the OS or performance boost. This is Ok though as long as the thing continues to work. I can't afford to be without it when I have to help a customer using it.
Don't count all your chickens before they're hatched. I suspect that even if you can successfully resist temptation that will be placed in front of you to "settle", they have enough tricks of their sleeves. I for one will acknowledge that people can be bought... And; this includes people in power and the courts. Who's to say that they don't somehow manage to wrangle a venue change and get this changed to another jurisdiction and court somewhere that will be favorable to them. They still have a lot of money and I would not put it past them to make sure their little cartel stays in good order. They have more average Americans, and even most artists to fleece!
Since this is the case then, the fact is that the recently won argument against a Duluth woman of supposedly sharing songs on her computer; now is technically void, and should be fully and completely overturned.
In fact, all the cases brought should be overturned except in the states where this company is technically licensed.
I had not read through all of these today but having survived 5+ years now of business only hiring temps and "independent contractors", I have a fair amount of knowledge in the area. Because of this "outsourcing" that many of us went through, our jobs were cut by moves in business to cut IT costs and improve profits for the shareholders, et al. This really is nothing more than devaluating the duties and tasks that we do to that of a high schooler working at a local Mickey-D's.
The real "shortage" comes about because business is NOT able to find someone willing to come in and be an all-purpose IT person, network guru, server admin., etc. and accept pay to the tune of $11 per hour. Thats the real shortage issue. So they will further outsource the jobs and bring in foreigners on H1B's to do those jobs at substantially reduced rates. IBM and a handful of other international companies are notorious for this.
Really what it will come down to is let these large companies hire the kids for $11. You really do get what you paid for. Eventually when things begin to collapse for many of these companies, they will be force to bring in people with knowledge and experience, and best of all; pay them what they're worth.
I am a long time professional technician specializing in many of Sony's product lines. The Betamax was not "killed" in 1988 like this claims. It actually was phased out of production in 2001 and at that point, the ED-Beta was the last machine. I'm inclined now to look into Sony and find out how much of this is correct but that part of it makes me question some of the other info.
In an aside; I actually owned not only a Sony KV-1310 from new but also a Betamax SL-7200. This was some great stuff!!!
Screw the torrent. If your stuck on Comcrap like many are, your torrent will be corrupt and you'll miss out. Better watch for the raw AVI or flash file to show up somewhere....:-)
Thank God and the heavens above that I no longer am working in an environment that requires me to support Vista! What a pile of garbage that thing is. Don't want it and even now Dell's line of computers that I would like to have is now forbidden because they only sell it with Vista. Screw em'. I'll just build a box that fits what I need and put what I want on it.
I hope that this doesn't turn out to be yet another Saturday morning cartoon fest for the 5 and under crowd. I suspect anyone with divestitures on this are likely to loose should it head this way.
This and many other reasons are why Islam is not compatible with the rest of the world. What I am still wondering is why we are even doing business with countries that participate in some of the barbaric things in favor of their sharia law. I just don't get it. I am in America and we are very tolerant of the Muslim people that are here. And; to my knowledge, they are tolerant of those of us that are Christian here. I've known several Muslim men who have never ever thought of me as an infidel.
People like the intolerant Taliban need to be exterminated. From what I hear, they are not even on the right path with the Quran and have skewed things over to some fundamentalist's bent thinking. This can't be that far apart from Bin-Ladin's motives either.
And now the church in England wants the government to honor Sharia law in addition to Christian law. The two are mutually incompatible. I wonder what they were thinking???
that would be right after you see Mr. Ballmer putting the wad of bills into his pants pocket. The briefcase with the rest of the bills is in the chair waiting for him to grab it on his way out of RIAA offices...
He was really fired because he was eating too much into the remaining litigation profits. They're not making anything on actual sales so now the only profits come from winnings in courts across the US. He was costing them probable $90k per year plus and they want that money too!!

LOL...
You are probably right. Technology or not, tie it up in the courts and soak your listeners for millions of dollars that you'll never ever see...
I wonder who will be first to be contacting these guys and threatening legal retaliation based on DMCA.
"You can't copy that tune from there to this device. You must pay another fee!"...

This whole scene now is speaking loud volumes of;
spreading the feces around their own neighborhood and wallowing in it.
Let the show go on. I'm well overdue for some good entertainment value, and I am getting that value out of the lawyers involved with the RIAA.
Ahh yes...
