I got to Olin College of Engineering, and our dorms are pretty well outfitted. There are two major wall panels in the room (it's a double). Each one has 2 fiber ports, 4 Cat6 ports, 1 coax cable TV and 4 power outlets. Even so, I have a power strip hoooked up.
I think people are going to fill whatever capacity they're given...

I have no doubt that if you strip out of the eye candy and turn off some of the other features those older G3's would actually run OS X rather well.
That's true. I have a friend with a Powermac 9600 (that's with a 300mhz 604 PPC) who hacked out most of the eyecandy. The thing works great as a web server.
I was one of the guys there, and let me tell you, it was an awesome experience. It wasn't about just going into the store, it was all about the waiting. I wasn't as hardcore as Hal, I only got there 10 hours early.
Waiting in line, camped out with a bunch of mac users, with network games going on all around and meeting all sorts of new people was really cool. It was the ultimate group experience.
It's been refered to as the "Cult of Mac", and it's really true. When you get it, you just get it. It was easy to pick out the PC users who came by and said "hi" because they just didn't get it.
And the apple store employees were awesome to us. They brought us bagels and everything!
Also good to note is that the current GPS system is long overdue for an overhaul. According to Wired, there are 18 satellites in the constellation that are due for replacement and only 13 in the pipeline (and not nearly enough rockets to launch them all).
Also, since Galileo is supposed to support a lot of what's promised in GPS III, I can't see this being a *bad* thing for anyone.
The "message" of the Matrix, if it can be called that, is sort of like Plato's Allegory of the cave, minus any actual intellectualism and plus a lot of guns.
It has nothing to do with the Allegory. It's a common misconception.
