You touched on part of the problem. The media will spin things certain ways, sometimes multiple ways, and the public has that to make decisions on. Yes, yes, people could delve into the issues more deeply. But how many issues? You could watch/read multiple news outlets that have different takes, but which one is "correct?" So even people that want to learn stuff still can get a slant on it. Of course, there are people that will watch only one type of news, like FoxNews or MSNBC full time, and then there are the people that don't even watch the news...
I'll be by your house around 9:30 Thursday morning to check out your computer. I promise I won't install anything on it. Really, there won't be any pictures secretly taken, err, I mean don't mind my art project. It's cool, I asked your neighbor if I could take pictures of you, and he/she said "no problem by me." And would you mine brewing some Kona for me, too?:D
Can't believe I'm standing up for Apple, but- Did those employees have the actual authority to let the guy use the machines this way? Remember, these machines were still owned by Apple, not the employees. Unless I get in touch with Legal first, no way am I letting a guy play an art project on systems like that, even if I'm the store manager.
Not a cult, more like a company trying to work like the government under a Secret clearance. Work as a military consultant and there's a whole lot of stuff you can't even tell your family.
This isn't the type of thing you just ask permission for, like "can I grab an apple off your tree" (yes, intended). Something like this is where you get written permission beforehand, in triplicate, and file one in the basement in a locked closet with a leopard guarding it.
This is not between Apple and an employee. He messed with Apple's property, not the employees. For the obligatory car reference- if a car salesperson says, "Yeah, feel free to run the car into a tree on your test drive!", the potential buyer is not getting off the hook for paying for the car because a salesman said it was cool.
One easy solution is to demand cash, not stocks. Or mostly cash, and some stocks. I never heard of anyone going bankrupt from accepting cash (what happens afterwards, well...). Trusting someone to make you money based on a promise... not so much.
Did someone resurrect William Castle? (He was known for adding these types of things to his showings, such as at "The Tingler" the chair would vibrate to simulate an electrical shock.)
Yes, burning witches is still quite popular. I hear that the rack is still rather popular, too. I think the lack of logic is more on your side since you're talking about things that stopped somewhere around the Industrial Revolution. Are there still fringe camps? Yes. "Much of which still functions like it exists [sic] in the middle ages"? No.
Uh, just recycling the battery and not the entire phone? The phone that has bad stuff it in it, too? If someone is dumb enough to just throw away any electronics, what makes you think they'll recycle a battery?
Especially since the article in question doesn't use it. Apple didn't "force" Google to do anything, Google gave up a feature to avoid a patent fight. Not that the actual article is much better. I hate most of these stupid patents, but don't go around like Apple was whacking Google with a stick to remove a feature. Blame the judge for his ruling, if anything. And I don't even have an iPhone. I don't even have a smartphone.
OK, I can roll with the leaking of stuff like that. I was thinking more in terms of leaking of classified stuff that was not evil but could hurt the country.
It was probably a carbon-42 test.
Oh, great, here we go again.

And the only way to implement terms limits is for these politicians is to do it to themselves. It must be nice to be the ruling caste.

Whatever. We got the water- Mars can suck dust. Take that you funny looking green guys!

That, and the one camp likes cats more than dogs.

Nah, it's just a regular retarded ant that walked through some bromine and into a fireplace. Happens more often than you would think.
Pointing out someone else's smell doesn't make your own funk go away.
It's a bit inconvenient, but those suckers last for centuries.

Me & dad, no. (Some where from 1940s movies!) As for the monkey... they're crafty.
And the relevance of stuff from 100 years ago has what relevance in this discussion? Why not go back to the Spanish Inquisition? Maybe the Crusades!
Um, no, I wasn't. I don't know what other religions call their holy guys. I just thought they were all priests.
They do, which do not require showing an ID at a polling station.

25 or so.
But I also have a BS in Electrical Engineering & a Master's in Compu Sci. So don't be too impressed.
At least you know they won't mess with you!
