Fair enough. I wasan't saying that mac users are stupid (The first part of my comment was a joke). It's just that in most of the jobs I've worked at those were the mac users. they were always picky people too.
Macs: If you make a computer STUPID people can use, only STUPID people will use it.
I mean besides the music industry;) oh wait. They're not always the smartest either.
Seriously
The only people I know who have Macs are people in their early 30's who dropped out of school to persue jobs in web design in the mid to late 90's
Guess what? Most of them aren't doing that anymore.
Slasdot T-shirts, Slashdot mugs, slashdot stickers etc... These things do make $$$, true you have to invest a bit at first but it's worth it. A site this size would make a profit of t-shirts and other merch. Hell, I'd buy a slashdot T-shirt.
You know. Trolling is one thing, hell everybody gets a laugh out of a troll once in a while but your just ruining Slashdot for everyone and thats just not cool.
You know what I love about people like you? You come here telling EVERYONE they are going to hell, they are going to burn, blah blah blah. And you do so in quite a rude way I might add. Then you CRY when people attack you for attacking them in the first place.
I happy you've found god or whatever you call it but DO NOT shove it in everyone else's face and then cry when they bite back.
Your worse then the everyday troll. YOU think you are better then everyone else.
Ok I think I'm ready to be modded down even though I don't think I deserve it.
Slashdot needs a karma whore filter so we can filter out the following types of posts.
1) For more info try this link.
2) here are some mirrors even though they are not needed at this time.
3) cut and paste posts (why do people mod those up?)
4)Bill Gates bashing (Don't get me wrong I hate him too but do those posts have to be modded to +4 insightful?)
I'm sure there are more I just can't think of them right now.
THANK YOU I've been saying this for years!! The people that go somewhere in the computer industry are the ones who love it (ya it sounds corny I know!) not the ones that take the course for the $$$
I only use macs when I have to do audio mastering with pro tools. But I have to say Mac users in general are very bright. Mac users are alot like Linux users (I'm a linux user) There is no changing there mind. They like what they have and they stick with it.
Now go play with you windows pc.
(last part was a joke poking fun at orignal poster)
You also forgot t "There are x standard replies everytime blah" rant that gets posted every time a new kernel is released".
You know. The rant about the rant;)
hell sonebody had to say it.
/. runs on Linux, Perl and mySQL.
As you can see by the fact that./ is up and down like a fucking yo-yo, these four technolagies are no where near ready for the enterprise.
I only counted 3 in what you just said. Maybe you are not ready for enterprise?
I feel the same way you do. But if these companies want to make money they are going to have to start catering to "Joe sixpack". Other wise they'll all go out of business.
I agree with you, if you don't like something then fix it yourself. After all this is open source. But I think the point he was trying to make is that most people don't want to be bothered with source code they just want a program to work. If you want your product to reach a wide group of people then you have to fix these "little things" that most slashdot users don't mind doing themselves. Joe sixpack just wants to install a program and run it. If he can't do that then he'll use something else. This is one of the downfalls of some open source projects.
I too have cogeco and I'm pretty sure they were prepared for this (as you have said) by switching things over.
I did receive a letter from the that said you had to switch you email/isp account by a certin date or your service may stop.
Perhaps they knew about this date ahead of time?

Actually Distro's are using 2.4 because it is the latest stable kernel. 2.5 is a developement kernel not intended for everydays use.

My mistake. I was under the impression that slashdot was not a technology. Silly me ;)

Sometimes it seems like the Government down there is communist. They tell you what you can and can't watch, play and do.
Whats next?

This was posted about two months ago on slashdot.
Well Slashdot just linked to there home page. I wonder if they will go after them?
LOL thats the funniest thing I have read in a while. Thanks for the laugh.
Since slashdot posted this story does that mean that they too will receive a letter from apple?

If your an M$ admin anyou don't set an administrator password for you SQL server you deserve what you get.
Would the 7 m even cover what it costs to make a rocket ship, fuel it, launch it into space and bring it back?
Nice idea and all but it'll never happen. I can hear Bill Gates Laughing now.
