The BBC world service and the BBC World News (the TV equivalent) are great, but here in the UK you don't get BBC World News (you get BBC News 24, which is just local stuff regurgitated all day, indistinguishible from commercial offerings) and the BBC World service is relegated to a crppay AM frequency that no radio can catch (or for nostalgia's sake you can use a World Band radio and then catch it there). Why the world service is not broadcast in FM in the UK beats me.

In Mexico you don't have a concept of nerd as such, first of all because people with computers are in a very small minority, secondly most young people at that age are more worried about starting to make a living than they are about finding reasons to ridicule each other.
Having said that I also think it is related to cultural differences. In Mexico the intelligent person is respected, culture and knowledge is seen as a positive trait that is encouraged. Many writers, poets, scientists belong to the "intellectual" elite and are constantly consulted and interviewed.
In my very personal anecdotal evidence I can say I never faced the treatment to which US nerds are submitted. I was president of my class, went to many parties, had loads of friends, but also used to read loads of books and to talk about these weird things called computers. Nobody ever rediculed me or any one of my likeminded friends for pursuing this esoteric stuff in spite of being studying in one public school notorious for gang activity.

After many years in the IT industry as an SA I began to have pain in my right hand.
I immediatly took some actions (new keyboard, comfortable mouse pads, etc).
Something else I did was to change the mouse to my left hand and declare it in my work machines as a left handed one.
At home I bought the most comfortable input device I could find (I settled for a Waccom pen tablet using the pen 99 per cent of the time) and carried on using it with the right hand.
All those changes eliminated the pain, I have been working like that for 2 years.
The workload in your hands is heavy, help them by distributing the work as much as poosible between both of them and ensuring that your hand does a little in a repetitive manner as possible (next year I may switch hands, devices or both to ensure the new changes don't become a new source of stress).
Most people don't care who gets ripped off, and no matter what you think nobody is being ripped off.

Show me the balance sheets of the companies claiming harm. I want to see the amount they claim they lost in the respective account of their financial statements reflected as a loss.
Lets suppose that by a miracleous trick the Music Cartel can probe that they lost money. Yep, disk manufacturers reduced disk guarantees to one year only, there are not eliable ATA backup devices and I still can put only 2 device in each ATA bus (or 4, wow, fscking fantastic).
