Roads can be built, and maintained privately (and still are in many places). The government really doesn't prevent much crime. The cops are usually there after the fact, and, if they are so good at it, as you say, why are there private security companies?
I noticed that on the first page of results I had 750 results. That was what it showed until about page 10 or so, and then it showed thatr there were only 175 results. What's up with that? Are authors/copyright holders having them pulled, or is it something to do with the beta-ness of the service?
That's 'cause I don't have any Mod points.:D I do have to say that Mr H was starting to ramble a little in his last couple of books, and I still think that he was the greatest SF writer ever.
While I understand that, and I understand that BuyMusic is infringing copyright left and right (pun intended), my point is that this is just one issue with the site/company. It's obvious that the company doesn't care about the users or the artists, but only about making money. I actually emailed support when I found that you couldn't get on the site without IE 5 + (on windows) and have yet to hear from them (3 or more weeks later).
Why does anyone care what's happening on BuyMusic.com, since you can't even get into it on Linux. (Or any Apple OS, or even on Windows, unless you're using IE 5.0+). I haven't been back since I found that out on my 1st visit--using Mozilla.
The sun ate away the night, soaking the sky red. I looked out the pinked window of my kitchen, through a veil of coffee vapor. It was my first cup of the day. I wasn't drinking it, yet. I was holding it, feeling the warmth, cuddling it, like a lover. Caffeine is my addiction, my one true love, but she is a mean, rotten bitch. You love her, but she doesn't love you back. If you try to leave her she makes your head pound. If you indulge, too much, in her warm, black bitterness, she will tear your stomach and nerves apart. Once you've had her, though, you just can't imagine life without her. You may live for coffee, but remember-- Coffee. Doesn't. Care....
Well let's see I've gone 6 or more months with 4 hours of sleep most nights (I'll admit that I do get a full 8 at least one day a week) without any undo loss in mental agility. I do get cranky at times, but hey, who doesn't?
I will say that 1500 lines of code a day is a little much to be believed, I voted forhim using code libraries, and reusing code.
As a white man living in Maine, USA, I take ofense to it also. But since Slashdot is fair it should be moderated down to -1 pretty soon. There're jerks where-ever you go./. isn't immune to them.
450-500 hrs a year ain't too bad...that's only about ten hours a week. Any more than that and you're an idiot. And it better be a decent salary for 50 hrs of work a week. As far as counter offers go, if you weren't worth that in the first place, you have to ask yourself why you are now, and how long you will be.
So we've gone from TV broadcast by radio (or micro) waves, to Cable,Satellite, etc., back to TV broadcast by radio waves? Only difference is it's not local. This is good?
Could you explain what this does? How does it stop the ads? The only things I have in hosts is stuff from norton for scanning emails. Thanks for the info.
Since when does gov't intervention==more competition? The free market would do more for us. Only problem is there hasn't been a real free market in the US since the late 19th century.
Corporate monopolies are gov't monopolies, corporations only happen because they are sanctioned by gov'ts. You'll never vote out the people who created a gov't monopoly, gov't is a self-replicating virus. I'd choose the corporate monopoly over gov't, since, for the most part, the guns backing up the corporations are limited.
Exactly. Plus, I feel, if you pay more, you should get more, anyways. So you can still download open office no matter what level you are, and if you gave the company more money, you can get Star office, personally I feel this is quite fair, and will probably cost less than buying Star from Sun.

There seems to be an echo in here.
Dude! You had broadband in 1996?
Well I actually liked Number of the Beast, and Friday, so I don't think everything after ...No Evil was unreadable.
I agree about Moon, though.

Why is this modded as redundant? No one else suggested this program, and it's pretty good, actually.

I don't think that I could like any of you any less.
The artist never complained, and pretty much understands why, and how, Google does this. He was just hoping that he could get more use out of it.
Thanks, I understand now.

That pretty much sums it up, and in just one sentence. Gertrude would be proud.
Whoops, sorry about the double post. A hitch in my giddy up.

the article was fluff. /. lately.
Can't seem to get much else from
