Oh my, you're not doing awfully well as a Microsoft apologist/shill now, do you? I mean, you explicitly state you don't know what you are talking about (PS3 online service, unified friends list, and so on), but then you get all aggressive as soon as someone (that would be me) pulls your leg with a little aside, regardless.

Just my two cents here: PSN doesn't even try to be Live, it follows a different concept, so what about getting over it and stopping to do futile comparisons, like "Hey, PSN doesn't look as shiny and web-like as Live, so it fails!"? I, for one, will welcome our new Home overlord as soon as it hits the earth, but I will not do any cheapskate comparisons à la "Live is what?! 2D only? That sucks!", because, you know, apples to oranges don't compare that well. If this helps: PSN is more like a back-end system, where Live is more front-end heavy. Let's hope both concepts get the job done, but accept that many don't find it acceptable for a paid service to be simply 'forgotten' to be beefed up for the peak sales season of the year.

Are you by any chance referring to a screener version, filmed with a camcorder from within a movie theater? I don't know, but if they took a good one to the show, one that has a really good image stabilizer, who knows, maybe that would be the very first screener that's more watchable than the original movie. There's a scent of irony in that.

I think this is good news. I couldn't care less about Skype on the PSP (although better to have the option than not have it), but this means that Sony are on good terms with the team behind Skype and VoIP will eventually be available on the PS3 as well, which is what I have been waiting for since I got the Playstation Eye. It just seems natural, and finally, our video calls to Japan might get through with better quality than now.

Well, you can also argue that not delaying the 360 indeed did make 360 a loser. The whole hardware design is flawed, as stated by top MS execs, six months more could have made a whole lot of a difference in terms of QA and improving cooling, overall stability and power efficiency. Instead, they hushed it out the door to gain an advantage which is now little by little melted away by a catastrophic failure rate of nearly 100% over the expected lifetime of a console (i.e., 4 to 5 years).

Consumer adhesion is still amazingly high, though: Would you still buy another car by Ford Motors if their current models all suffered sudden breakdowns on the highway at a rate of more than 10%? The whole Xbox disaster should dismantle Microsoft's trustworthiness as a hardware vendor for a long time coming, but marvelously, this doesn't seem to have happened yet.

HD-DVD might sound like a natural progression, but many non-geeks already gave up after CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW or double layer, or consider the whole Core2Duo, AMD-64-X2, Quad-whatever mumbo-jumbo. The CPU naming attempts being lame and even more confusing, I think that Blu-ray just got it right. "DVD or Blu-ray?" is an easy choice for John Doe; "DVD or HD-DVD?", not so much.
