    Is that just like the whole Adobe illustrator thing? I mean they dropped the charges BUT the local authorities were still prosecuting. Lawyer can twist this around to were it doesn't matter IF the owner wanted it done because it_is_still in violation.

    It is, however, disconcerting that this same technology can prevent legitimate news, views, and opinions from easily making it to one location or another.

    I think it might be more disturbing that the practices now will lead to future improvements on companies controling the net even further by only letting people who pay to use basic rights or info. I can see this exploding in the future into real cyber wars. Think about it; a country can totaly block another one from viewing certain things or areas on the internet! Might be paranoia but it is a possability.

    I didn't know that Linux "owned" any part of the market. Sure it might hold the loyalty and intrest of many users-but OWN it? Is it not hard to own something that you do not pay for in a monitary sense?

    I love Net Hack (Falcon eye), Cannon Smash, Free Civ, but for the PAID games I love Quake3 and Alpha Cent! Those two rock hours off the clock. I wish loki would import Black & White.

    As many have said you need the boxes, software, and a person to run it. It would be best to have a person seperate from the faculity to run it, BUT who? Considering the schools don't have enough money to pay the teachers right how can they pay one Linux Tech enough to keep the system running?

    Your right, just like Clinton couldn't decide how to bone the country or the intern; you relate a couple of bad cases with the military to the whole. So all Americans, are heartless, greedy, ignorant, and clueless. Remember this my well educated person. You can bring lets say a Muslim in america and train him to kill thousands of people with an airplane not thinking twice of his plot, but you put an American in a forign country and he/she will stick out like a sore thumb.

    So as we all know the government wants total control over the people. And right now they and thier money giving companies want intelligent computer users put away. So that means in about five years you will have to submit to a DNA test, and a pollygraph everytime you buy a computer part because of it's "potential" to bring down the country.

    Who cares about speed or DVD. The power consumption is great, and at 600 Mhz it's just right. If your a buisness person and need a longer lasting solution this is it. If you complain about non-DVD, or speed than you shouldn't even post here. This will be a great solution for those buisnesses that are searching for new ways to please the share-holders. If you need a DVD, 1+ GHz and 30 Gig HD for Wordprocessing, database, or spreadsheet programs then you are reading the wrong article.

    I would say donate them to 3rd world countries! That is the ones with power ;-) Linux can run on them no problem, and you could teach these 3rd world countries basic computer skills. And wire the world!

    The fact is also that StarOffice is an all around office suite. One program with many integrated features, the biggest being able to read and use M$ Office2K programs. It is the one office suite that allows M$ and *nix machine to comunicate on a .doc(ument) level. And A big PLUS is that the icon setup is much like office which allows easy converstion from M$ to a *nix system.

    SuSE has nothing bad against them. They have been a great distro and will continue to improve. I run 7.2 and have no problems installing it on a PIII 450. A big bounus is that the programs used aren't specialy crafted for SuSE, they are the original.

    The sad fact is that money is the decision maker. You can fight this idea all you want but it is true. Just like M$. If they have not been investing the money like they have, they surely would have been out of business five years ago. In a capitalistic government everything is bought by money-just one bad side about it.

    They just don't want everybody else to know the secret. ;-)

    First of all thank you for the article.

    Second, think about it. The ideas in this article bring some debates. We as humans are always trying to make computers life-like, trying to induce a sense of self with in. We want the computer to make a choice with out the guidance of a complicated algorithm. If we do use the approach suggested in this article than these nano-machine will eventually develop a conscious!

    This is good, but I think more energy should be focused on our four wheeled transportation buckets! Why not imporve the cars BUT also make them cost effective?
