    It does, so does SCO have enough money to carry this out? I mean how long and how many appeals did the first Anti-Trust for MS take? Besides SCO vapor-evidance is still the big thing right now. I wish the media would tell Mr. Mc to STFU untill you produce the evidance on your own.

    It seems as if the who Corp. world has taken over the Convention and only given a little bit of space for the true geeks. Not like the days when people who had jobs would take a day off to bring everything there and show off their stuff. I miss those kind of conventions, more like a non-gaming LAN party these days. Any how I think it is good to go to these big shows and see what commercial "stuff" is around, but remember-that's not all Linux is about.

    swallow our pride and set out to emulate windows's simplicity.

    O.k. I can understand the fact that the Linux community might wanna swallow it's pride, because we all many programmers have them, but we should not emulated windows simplicity. We can work harder to make it easier for people but look at all the problems Microsoft is having now by trying to keep everything to the KISS method. The GUI's can be worked on a bit but trying to standardize to much will limit Linux in the long run.

    I mean there are other groups out there that just wait for a domain name in use to become available by over looking the date, sometime easy to do. Just one day can mean a company will come in swoop you domain name, and then offer to sell it back to you at a %1000 increase for "maintanence and transfering" fees.

    I'm sorry but before I trust the "third party" results I wanna see these results on the third parties website-not Microsofts.

    Second I like the whole "No single analysis of Windows versus Linux provides definitive answers for every company. These reports use different infrastructure models, transaction scenarios, and quantification methods to provide a multifaceted comparison between the two platforms."

    This leaves the option to use biased methods, or a report on certain computations. Like putting a boat on the street at full throttle and saying it is not as good as the car cuz it doesn't go fast enough? Any how when a company make a huge deal over this is almost sounds like SCO drumming up more claut.

    Always an option, but then - you also might come back in a body bag, or with strange medical conditions that don't show up until years later - thanks to some military experimentation on their recruits?

    Some risks just like drinking and driving, doing druggs, or acting on the young adult mentality that one is immortal can bring the same effects. You can die in war/battle that is the first thing you "pledge" to. When you have to repeat that you will obey the orders giving to you even if it mean giving up your life for your country, how can you screw that meaning up? Everything has strings attached, you must choose which strings you want. Plus life is what YOU make it_not_what others make it for you!

    Is this a good thing? I mean don't we sometimes have to abandon the ideas of old in order to progress? How has English evolved over the past 50 years? Besides the branch of American English and the ones the UK speaks and writes. Maybe not much but how about 300 years? As technology progresses further than a Moore breaking speed should the language not evolve as well?

    I agree that Unix language is solid and has been around for a while, but should we choose the permanent language based on technology first conceived 25 years ago?

    No that was R, since they made pg-13 all R ment is some naked people of a curse word. In a sense R now is a very stron pg-13, but of course they can do pg-17 cuz that's to close to NC-17 and if it were...Ah hell your right fuck it.

    Even thoe I don't write or speak the language I think that it is great that the world is getting closer to using Linux in their respective languages! I don't believe we should force english or any other European language on to any one.

    O.k. I d/l'ed the thing and must say that it actually made me laugh. I mean the stuff you can do is insane and just pure fun. Granted pissing on people to make them puke then shooting them is considered vaulgure in our soceity but hey it's fun. The pure out right beating of people can make as all better people. It's based off the Unreal engine from 2001 so this is esentialy a good MOD in my book. There are still some bugs and for $30 I would hope they have them fixed.BUT and a BIG but the demo version also has a Multi-Player function so you can play other maps and so for the demo only. That is a cool future to see how the game is online.

    Over all the game is entertaining, not for $30 though sorry. I'll stick to NWN, UT2003, and Quake3 for now.

    Too long sad to say. It seems like every good gas saving product that comes out just mysteriously disappears. Like the cars that run on used vegi oil, or the car that get 80+ MPG. I hope this car makes it else where in the world.

    You are right. Any one can learn to program in Win or Linux, but to understand the nature of Linux devel takes more that some beer and a LUG meeting.

    its an excellent distro for even veterans of Linux who would rather spend time coding, or tweeking important performance settings instead of mucking about setting up printers or searching for "boot images" just to support year old hardware or file systems other then EXT2/3.

    Excuse me my good man/woman. But I use Slackware and I love tweaking and coding around in it and I don't worry about setting up printers or searching for boot images. Just like who MDK uses graphical installs and flashy colors to help with the Linux experience, some distros like Slack like have multiple boot images to save space and time, it's all flava! Any how I'm glad slack has swaret now I have now problem keeping my package current!

    Plus what I don't like about MDK is every time I install a new version or the same on again something different goes work with it. I can install Slack five time and have the same results. What worries me is that getting more not so technical people to use Linux for money will create a force no person has realized can truly influence the path of Linux in a different direction.

    This is what happens when you have money hungry managers and shareholders that WANT their well deserved profits. I'm afraid many good businesses in the future will suffer the same fate. It is rare to see an intellectually challenging game these days. It is a shame; I think that the software industry has turned to the same marketing tactics of the music industry. Promote a song, no matter how crappy, as much as possible and make sure the public hears it at least six times a day until they are forced to buy the CD, parade the group through every merchandise avenue, then after six months make a new album or a new artist. We are getting screwed buy money hungry publishers and share holders. What ever happened to playing a game for 6 months and still having fun? Hell I still play Zues, Mechawarrior 4, and even x-com UFO defense. They are fun games! Why do I have to buy one every freaking month? If it takes that long to finish I would rather buy five or six books at the same price as the game, at least the entertainment will last longer.

    I think this is one of those rare cases that the courts are right. You can only take fair use so far. Taking a video camera to a movie is like taking one to a concert. We can use the whole I wanna back-up my cd's and my DVD's incase some aliens come by and steal my shit, but the movie AT the movie theater is not yours.

    Now who is going to bring up the issue that some crazzed idiot is going to expand this to copying rented DVD's? The same issue, if you don't buy it, you can't back it up.

    Would this not be a great time to introduce an Open Source Bios and Mobo? I think there should be a big enough market for this, granted MS stuff prolly wont run on it but at least you can get the other Non-MS OS's on the system.

    Frankly I use both MS and Linux, untill now. I'm tired of this crap. Let them trust themselves FIRST!

    Well even though it took a l-o-n-g time for the Linux client to come out, it is a fun game. In fact it is the only game I play on a daily basis on my Linux system. Granted I have had moments of outrage to long delay's it is a great game, and I'm so happy to see the company still support the game and develop for it. This is a game that truly allows the end user and developers to continue the legacy as long as there is a demand. If they actually make a NWN II I hope they will concentrate on bring the Linux release up to par.

    P.s. The gfx is pretty cool, not great but I don't play a game solely based on gfx, I need good playability and challenging tasks.

    Does any one else but me think that MS is just spreading itself too thin by trying to cover EVERY flipping market out there related to IT? Granted I know every business model ends with #.PROFIT, but it is obvious the whole focus on security didn't pan out and we are still waiting for this awesome .NET to take over the internet. Ah screw it, it is Bills' company let him run it .

    This is great news for the linux front, but sad since most Ipaq's go for around $300-$600-the price of a decent Linux box. I don't think many /.'ers can/will offord one. Besides I see this more of a "geek" project. Sure it is a working PDA with linux but it it takes a bit of know how and tweakin along with dedication to get it to work. Bravo guys on increasing the Linux foot print and you have my $$$ to help along the way.
