Side bar. I also think it is so neat that this thing explodes again...after the freakin war in Iraq. How screwed up is this mess? We need to re-think our lives here. Out of all the companies in the world, the record industry is screwing up peoples lives here, entertainment based companies folks! This is vanity shoved in everyones face. Simply because the general public will feel "safe." How many people actually know who the senator for their state is, more less voted for them? The public gets numb-minded about these issues and don't care, because it does not effect them. Kind of like the same way Drunk Drivers think they will never get caught.

Nope. This would not make it useless, with the cheap prices of hardware these days I don't think this complaint is enough. With the latest program offerings from this Distro it seems to offer more "candy" which takes more power. If you just want gnome and no 3D, little sound, and to be able to operate a few programs at once then a less bloated Distro is ideal, BUT just because the distro does not feed off of the lower-end computers does not make it worthless. That's like driving a Fiat 500 on the interstate and complaining that the speed limit is set too high because your car can't go that fast.

The hardest thing to break is the ego barrier. And it is very evident in many aspects in open source. Take for example the kernel source and different programs branching off. It's great, and even arguably beneficial, except for the fact that different versions of the same program are competing against each other where the forces should be united. Again this is the beauty of Open Source, where you don't have to rely on a leader/Dictator how ever you see it. The fact of this multiplied by the ego's in different countries just make this a big number. What also does not help is the fact that many programmers are not being paid such good money for the programs either. I will still use open source software at home and love it. If people want to compare M$ "standards" to Linux just remember one thing, M$ has about a ten year head start. ;-)
